  1. I think she's missing puppy breathe, will just have to get Aussie puppy breathe . Yep, we all need a new showdog (hope Jenna can read this). No pressure or anything Jenna
  2. They are gorgeous! PS I will add Ella to Mason's dogbook ;)
  3. If Katies girls take a medium i think Mason would be the next size up?
  4. That is odd, Mason is the opposite on other foods he gets runny poo and goes like 10x a day, on Holistic Select he goes 3 or 4 x max and they are all small.
  5. I know what u mean Rubystar, Mason gets the most in this house!! I think there is a section there that tells you how to measure, I am unsure if I should get one now because what if Mason grows by next summer Edited so say, no they only tell u how to measure for a collar??? Would also like to know what size I would need, anyway I must get to work now..... wish I didnt have to but someone needs to pay for Masons accessories
  6. Yes G said that the K9 shop sells them, how much is expensive?
  7. I was told yesterday RS that starting this year there is a new title for succsessfully completeing all 3 retrieves in 5 trials regardless of placings. They are trying to make the sport more approcable! Sounds good! Silly question but how far are the retrieves??
  8. I have 2 cats one is siamese x , the other one is also a x, dont know with what his mum was a longhair, and a labrador, the labrador loves both cats, the siamese x will tolerate him when she feels like it the other one loves him to bits! Here is Mason and Socks
  9. It was as hot as yesterday, i felt quite bad for the people entered in the club trial because there wasnt much shade on that open space, they put up 2 umbrella's but they didnt do much. I watched the one class ( not sure which one it was) and most of the dogs were dark colours and you could see them battling. Heaps of dogs also broke their stays.
  10. Where have your ordered the Shammy one's from? I am going to have to think about getting Mason a coat just for club training on a sunday, we do most of our work in the shade but the heelwork is obviously in the sun and after 2 or 3 minutes he is just too hot
  11. Tiggy what sort of training have you done for distractions - have you tried working on your front lawn, then on your front lawn with teddies and food containers on the ground and then working down the footpath and then at the local oval with nobody around and then another different oval the list goes on. Tiggy, I think the problem for most people today was the heat, there were actually very minimal distractions around. Dogs were laggy cos it was so darn hot! And my question is to those gurus out there, how do you motivate a dog to work in the heat? Or you just plain can't? Quite a few of the dark dogs at the club trial today had coats on to keep the sun off, I think I will only do night trials in the summer when I compete, Mason attracts the sun like no tomorrow being black and he doesnt work well in heat at all.
  12. This time 3 years ago I entered Scoota in his first retrieving trial. At the State Agility Champs he jumped up to get a teddybear I was holding and his back legs collapsed and he has been "injured" ever since. To be honest knowing what I know now he would have broken down very early on and I am not sure he has the "drive" when the going gets tough. Me I have an issue touching dead things - so I used to wear gloves when holding the bridies and I couldn't stand it when the birdies used to look at me :D Pathetic isn't it I want to try retrieving but I love birds, dont know how good I will be at seeing dead birds???
  13. Well done Mason . Had a good session tonight as well he was very well behaved and I am much happier with him in general :D
  14. I am looking for the Holistic Select treats, specifically the salmon treats and the biscuits that have a fish flavour, does anyone know where I can get them in WA, I looked at Better Pets in Wangara this morning but they didnt have??
  15. My cats were chipped in south africa, all i did was contact the AAR and have their chips registered on there.
  16. Really?? I had no idea they would cover pre existing condtions once a waiting period was served? From all their product statements I've read, they excluse pre existing entirely? How long have you been with them? It was a blocked tear duct due to a tear duct infection, i suppose its a rare thing and actually hasnt happened again so maybe thats why? We have been with them just under a year now. Edited to say, I must check my policy doc again to be 100% sure but I am sure it said they would cover him in 12 months for any eye condition ( except tear ducts) and then after 24 months for any eye conditions including tear duct probs, like I say I must check my doc to be 100% sure but I know none of the other insurers wanted to cover his eyes ever! Went and had a look at my policy doc and it is exactly as I thought, no eyes for 12 months and after 24 months they will review weather they will cover the tear ducts or not, which will be 2011
  17. Well I am a happy mummy again, Mason worked so well in class today ( and for fish as he cant have other meat) he was great, the instructor made us tie our leads to our belts and get them to loose lead walk and heel etc ( both of which are Masons falldown) but he did really well, even added in some automatic sits Will be meeting up with our mentor tonight to just get some extra tips etc and help with our turns but I am much happier than I was last weekend His best friend in class got up during the down stays and was wondering around, I saw him look at her and thought here we go he is going to get up but he didnt move
  18. I see labs in ring up here all the time! I always thought they were generally eager to please, maybe that's just in comparison to my dog He is eager to please me but he would rather stare at other dogs etc, there is a beagle in our class and she has her nose to the floor the whole class...
  19. I waited about 2 months for my first claim to be paid out but first claims are always longer and it was over xmaas-new year, my following claim took 3 weeks. My dog had an eye condition before he joined so he has to wait 24 months before I can claim on anything eye related but the other insurers wouldnt EVER cover his eyes so its one of the reasons I went with Petplan.
  20. No it wasn't a private lesson it was afternoon tea and I couldn't help myself - a beagle was on my wish list before I discovered duck dogs. And I'm sure after meeting Daisy yesterday you are definitely not regretting that decision MasonsMum I was telling Ptolomy yesterday that part of me would really like a breed like a Toller just to see what it's like to have a dog like that but there is just something about beagles that makes me want to own ten I know what you mean, I thought to myself many times that I should have gotten a collie or something thats eager to please me but I have always wanted a lab and now I have one Rubystar has proven that labs can do well in obedience when they are trained nicely so now I just have to learn how to train him
  21. I am quite happy with them, I also like the fact that they cover alternative treatments like chiro, homeopath etc if your vet thinks it could help your dog
  22. No it wasn't a private lesson it was afternoon tea and I couldn't help myself - a beagle was on my wish list before I discovered duck dogs. I must admit I have a soft spot for beagles and corgi's, dont know if I will ever end up getting one coz I love my labs too but they are cool.
  23. I tried it out with Mason quickly and I must say he is more eager to stay with me and look at me if I am walking backwards but he also ends up stepping on my feet as i dont walk backwards fast enough lol
  24. I am using the EP Holistic Select Anchovy Sardine and Salmon at the moment ( I was using the Chicken and Oatmeal for large dogs but we are on a bit if an elimination diet as my boy has seasonal allergies) I really like it and so does my dog, 3 or 4 small poo's a day only. I am going to maybe try my cats on it too, I have one really fussy cat though but she runs to pick up any of the dog kibble if I drop it so it looks promising. If you email them through the EP site they send you samples. Best of luck
  25. Mason is a pretty smart dog he gets things quickly BUT the things he picks up quickly are the things I KNOW how to teach him, I am not 100% sure about heelwork, I have been shown now how to teach him but it is a process, both him and I have TONS of work to do...
