  1. Mason seems a bit down and I think its the cortisone - hate the stuff
  2. If you PM Ptolomy she has the name of one that doesn't cause drowsiness, I have the name somewhere I could also try find it for you if you like?? Mason is not too drowsy, he is sleeping more than normal but when he is awake he seems fine. They are ones like Fexo and Loratidine (I work at a pharmacy remember ) but since Toby only gets allergies badly for a couple of weeks when seasons change and even then he dosen't need them everyday even then it isn't a huge problem for me. Thats how Mason's started when he was that age, hopefully Toby's dont get worse, I think the name is Zyrtec or something like that ( cant find the paper I wrote it down on now ) I am pretty sure fexo is the cheaper version of Zyrtec :D How old is Mason? I thought he was only 18 months? Toby is nearly 3. Sorry I am getting confused I thought lincoln was the one with allergies I have no idea of generic names etc

  5. Does anyone know if its safe for a dog to exercise on cortisone and anti-histamines? I forgot to ask my vet and she is not there today.
  6. I must have been half asleep this morning because when I went to count out Mason's cortisone pills this evening I see that there was one missing for this morning..... I am shocked how much relief these little tablets are giving him, he is on one cortisone a day and 2 anti-histamines...
  7. RS- Ruby cracks me up Mason is also a silent trainer lol
  8. Glad to hear the anti-histamines have helped and there are no long term side effects to using them. Take it from me - its best to buy them in bulk as it works out much cheaper. Is it best to just get them from the chemist? She has put him on Iramine for now, and even on 1 tablet he is a bit sleepy but then that could also be the cortisone he was doing a weird licking chewing thing with his mouth and tongue and I have decided today to not give the cortisone and see if it is that, will phone her on Monday as she isnt working today and just let her know what he is doing and if it is the cortisone or the anti-histamine.
  9. If you can - make an appointment to see Mandy - she calls a spade and spade - just don't have anything to drink the night before your appointment so you can keep up with everything she tells you. Pssst - make sure you tell her you have tried some alternative things and then tell her you know me - that will get her started lol Have to save my pennys now for the Murdoch consult, will probably be in June that we will go, the anit-histamines have helped loads already, he is way less itchy
  10. No it wasnt split, after 2 days his paws are actually looking almost normal again
  11. Will you let us know when the order has been shipped??
  12. We had some rain up here but not much of a storm...
  13. I suspect that my boys are also touch allergies, I know when he touches certain plants his eyes swell, sometimes even when we walk into a park his eyes will swell up so it is something in the air if you ask me but no vets etc seem to take that point into account. Murdoch will see people without a referral, I emailed them the whole story today and they are happy to help.
  14. Thanks for the info Dagmar, I have been using colloidal silver on him...
  15. I have emailed them this morning, will see what they say. No his feet are not sore for him to walk on but without anti-histamines he licks them constantly which is what has made the sores in the first place.
  16. I am keen to go to Murdoch but my vet wont give me a referral...
  17. Is the conditioner Aloveen? No I think its called Pyrohex or something like that? Aloveen makes Mason scratch a lot for some reason
  18. Our club always says, if in your trial level you need for eg a 3 minute sit stay always train it for 4 minutes, so that would be training above the level you are trialling at ...... just carry on doing what you are doing with Daisy, she is doing so well at the moment
  19. Dont worry about them Huski, show them the middle finger and tell them you when you ask for an opinion then they can give it. At the end of the day Daisy is your dog and you know her and what works for her. It reminds me of horse people and how some of them treat you like they always know better ...............
  20. She is treating him for both at this stage.....
  21. Verdict is allergies, we are now on Hills ZD and antihistamines and cortisone for awhile, we also have some leave on conditioner.
  22. Beans ended up at the vet last night I couldn't put my finger on it, but something wasn't right, she was cuddly, she was quiet and as time went on she started squealing if Cider went to pull on her or when she tried to lay down or get up. Couldn't find what the problem was ? gastro from eating the chocolate, less likely a blockage or a pulled muscle somewhere from doing something - little darling wasn't very cooporative for the vet. Can rule out a blockage so she is on boring food and reduced exercise for a few days and will see what happens. Poor Beans!! Wazzat I wanted to do the walk but Mason has very sore feet and I am not walking him at all at the moment so we wont be going ( whole story under Health and Nutrition - we have a vet app at 16h15 so we will then find out the cause of the sores - I am suspecting its all allergy related though)
  23. Yeah he has 2 paws that have one sore each and a 3rd paw is very red between the pads. I will see what the vets have to say, I am also thinking allergies, his ears are also really itchy at the moment but that sould just be scratching from allergies and no infection - took him to the vet about 5 weeks ago and they said he had a ball of hair down his ear and we flushed it out using ear rinse.
  24. Is that really the case? Sorry, just trying to understand. I didn't join the Canine until Ruby was 2 years old. She was registered in my name by 8/9 weeks of age, and on her registration papers it had a membership number against my name, though I didn't have a membership yet. When I actually registered, this became my number. So the dog can be registered in your name even if you aren't a member yet, and it looks like a membership number is reserved for the owner should they wish to join. Having the dog registered in your name may not matter to some if they aren't going to join Canine, but to me it would feel wrong having my dog in someone else's name, regardless of me joining Canine or not. I want to know my dogs are mine in every sense, if you know what I mean. Happy to oblige anything in a contract, I like to earn and keep the respect of my breeder/s, but would still like a dog in my name if the breeder is happy for that to happen. I'm lucky that it was never an issue with Ruby, the breeder transferred her over to me automatically, no prodding from me required And yes, she is desexed, but wasn't part of any contract. Yip, Mason is in my name too, I think we did the paperwork on the saturday and by the friday I had the new rego papers for him, it was very quick and painless.
  25. Did your vet say what is was? I would suspect bacterial or fungal cause if related to the dam... Mason's Mum: An allergic dog may be more prone to picking up fungal or bacterial things from the dam / river as well, as their skin barrier function may be compromised, so getting that functioning better may help in the long run... Yeah I have noticed that ;) I feel so sorry for the poor thing
