ETA They need to correct their terminology because they make it sound as though 70% of dogs will be fixed and that is misleading. Yeah it could be misleading. Its so hard to know what the right thing to do is, our vet told us that he has been in practice for 24 years and seen loads of dogs with allergies, he recons the natural route works for loads of other conditions but for allergies he has seen little success treating the dog with just natural methods.

Lol I am a collar collector Mason has 3 collars that have nothing wrong with them and I have seen a lovely soft leather collar with bling on that I want too, with a matching lead of course ( knowing my luck he will be allergic to the leather or something :D )

Marilyn's Rebel is awesome he is a lovely dog, I have met a few Flatcoats that are lovely, if I couldn't have a lab or goldie I would get a flatcoat.

You have about 6 weeks to get some and stock up the freezer - she says running out the door to beat you to it :D I only have a tiny freezer MM have you used the Pet Chef in Midland? They deliver too. I have not seen roo on their menu though or any other unusual meats but I will send them a mail or phone them....

Does anyone know where I can get pet meat NOR?

Did you have something that states it's 70-80%? Because 3 different Vets told me 20% approx were successful, may have increased over the years but I don't think it would have jumped that high. Our info sheet from the vet states that it has a 65-70% chance of reducing symptoms...

When Mason went for desexing they shaved some of his one front leg obviously for needles. Not even going to think about the patch they will shave for his allergy testing, he is going to look so funny!
-
I think you are right it is much cheaper than just trying everything else and I think we will do it as soon as we have saved our coins :D
-
Hope Lincoln feels better soon, it takes ages for the shaved hair to look normal again

I walk Mason on lead every morning, then train and if he is good I then let him offlead at the park. I must admit we never walked or trained today though

If you ever have a feeling that you think your vet could be wrong get a second opinion, try go to a vet who is recommended to you by someone you know who's animals have had a similar issue to yours. I recently took my dog to the vet for allergies, was told things that are not true, when I got home I looked some info up on the net and my vet had given my outdated treatments etc. I then went to a vet who was recommended to my by someone who has a dog with allergies and I am shocked at how much more knowledgeable this second vet is.

We did it and it didn't work, we live on Cortisone as many of his allergens are things we can not control. That would be an option for us but my dog is not tolerant of cortisone he gets incontinent and very depressed. I heard there is something called cyclosporin that some people are using, wonder how successful it is.
-
Thanks Ozjen I am a member and they have been very helpful. I am trying a shampoo with him at the moment and a cortisone cream, nothing seems to help, the antihistamines do nothing either. I think its contact but maybe I must try feed him something different like potato and roo for a few weeks to see what happens, I just dont see how I can bath him and 5 mins later he is itchy again.

Just looking for some experinces of people with dogs who have allergies who have done the desensitization, has it worked for your dog? How long did it take to start showing any improvement. Also for someone who cannot afford to pay for it right now what other options are there which could be successful?

Lillim I feel for you, you must have spent a fortune and it seems that you have seen little results. I am just wondering for myself ( and maybe others) if one cannot afford immunotherapy or if it does not work for your dog what its the next best thing to try? I for one dont want to spend $1000's of dollars and then we dont get any sort of improvement, I know this can be the case and if I had loads of money I would not be hesitating but I am not well off at all.

Lol I have put a shirt on Mason today, he seems much happier with it on, not scratching as much.

Oh no, poor Lincoln! How are Tobys allergies? Mason has been refered to Murdoch for allergy testing, I am eating plain bread and butter for the next 3 months its gonna cost a bomb... They were bad for a week or so when his paw was red and itchy but I got ointment to help and had him on Polaramine for a few days and he is fine now. I am lucky Tobys allergies are so minor! Lincoln's toe has cost me close to $1000!!!!!! Thank god he is insured! I think I have seperation anxiety from him ;) He has been tearing around like an idiot even with his toe nail hanging half off so I think once I get him home the problem will be keeping him calm. We were out your way today Mirawee looking at land You are lucky that the Polaramine works, it did nothing to help Mason, he is now trying Zyrtec, I cant say that I have seen an improvement he seems to not get any relief from antihistamines. Its going to cost me 2x what you paid for Lincolns toe and thats only 5 months worth of immunotherapy and testing.
-
Were you? You can buy our place ;) I would love some land somewhere, I love having space around me lol.

I am waiting to hear back from him, havent had a chance to phone him again as I have had my own dog at the vet tonight etc.
-
Exactly Papers are better in the hand than chasing a breeder who's phone is disconnected I agree and from his papers we can see who his parents are and that they have been hip scored etc, if you are not given those papers you have no proof of who the parents are etc. Personally i would not leave with the puppy if I didnt have the papers.
-
I got my pups papers the day we collected him, he is on the limited register. If a breeder wants to they can then upgrade the dog to the main register.

Valley Mason wont play with his toys in class when there are other dogs around , he will occassionally but he much prefers food, he will work for that whenever and wherever
-
My dog got his final vac at 10 weeks too.

Did any of you practice your footwork without the dog for awhile with turns?
