  1. Yeah its a great place!!! Mason loves his walks there but he has to swim, he just cant resist any body of water PS I got caramel slices for tomorrow!!
  2. Lol my tax return and hubbys has to go back in our credit card, I want to maybe buy Mason another jacket and maybe another collar but both cars need to be serviced too, bummer that we got them 1 month apart as now they always need servicing at the same time!!!
  3. Yes please let us know what the derm has said. My boy bubble boy has an ear infection again ( related to his allergies) and is off all antihistamines etc as he is booked in for allergy testing soon
  4. I had 2 bitches that would have huge fights every now and then, now at almost 11 they have settled down and dont fight anymore. Whenever we were around they would fight, once an empty meat bag blew into our yard and they fought over that, they fought over a bone the time before. After that I had to seperate them when feeding, I stopped feeding bones as one would bury and one would eat their bone.
  5. I have been to Yellongonga once and I really enjoyed it! We went in off the little parking spot on Ocean Reef road, I may try take Mason tomorrow morning as we are going to be out the whole afternoon so he will need a run.
  6. Is there parking for it, or do you walk through Yellongonga to get there? I am maybe going to take Mason tomorrow morning.
  7. Does anyone know where Perry's Paddock is? Is it in Yellongonga Reserve?
  8. Sounds like you guys might be teaching it with the 2x2 method - in this case, definitely avoid him coming back the way he went. You need a reward line - this is the direction he heads through the poles and the direction the reward is thrown. Helps to teach entries from all angles. Edit: you should also be shaping him to go through the poles on his own, and then throw the reward once he's heading through. Do not throw the food to lure him through. It's a frustrating process at first if your dog isn't good with shaping (Ruby is, Millie isn't so I am going to have trouble with her!) but once they "get it", you'll progress in no time. Yes the lady mentioned last night to try and get them to think for themselves and let them work it out and then throw the food, my mistake was letting him walk through and then clicking, he then came me for the reward, I must throw the food for him and not expect him to come and get it from me!! You can avoid him coming back through the poles to get his reward if you move yourself sideways after you click, so he comes back to you round the poles. (If that made any sense.) But the method really works better with throwing the food/tug. So you click for the movement through the poles and instnatly throw the food. On grass, the food needs to be quite large so it's easily visible. The idea is to promote and reward forward motion all the time - along the reward line. This is the line the dog will be driving towards as he starts getting the idea - and is what makes them independent weavers. If you get the chance, see if you can watch the 2x2 dvd - a few times - makes it much easier to see what you're doing and why. Yes I must try get hold of that video as I dont know where the reward line is...
  9. Oh no ST - naughty girl Ari does she often do things like that?? Not much to report here, Mason booked in for allergy tests on the 30th, hoping they go ahead as he is battling another ear infection and he has to be off all topical applications by next friday the 23rd...

  11. We starting teaching weave poles last night, we throw food through and he dog goes to get it etc, but now my dog goes to get the food and comes out the way he went in, is this ok to start with?? We only used 2 poles so maybe he wont do this when there are more up....
  12. Hmm maybe Millie and Beans both need to go on the rehome list. Did anybody hear me screaming like a fishwife last night trying to get Beans to come back from chasing ducks through the pond on the bottom oval at K9 and across the car park........ Poor Bedazzled saw just how good our recalls are NOT I will have Beans Mason was mostly good last night but ran off with his friend after she had run up to us 5x ....... at least he comes back when I call him.
  13. DOnt worry about Mason he is only allowed roo and sweet potato until the 26th, I will bring some treats and snacks along for him.
  14. No suggestions for you Amypie but I hope you come right. We are having our own little problem here, my friend and I go to the same agility class together, our dogs are sometimes allowed to play together, now when my friends dog sees Mason she runs up to us during the whole of class, sometimes Mason will ignore her but other times he runs off with her for a play.... any suggestions for me anyone?
  15. I am supposed to bath Mason 2x a week as part of his allergy plan but I only do it once a week - I am a bad mum Mason also sleeps on the bed which is why I used to bath him once every 3 weeks or so before all his allergy probs....
  16. I ONLY WANTED YOU They say memories are golden well maybe that is true. I never wanted memories, I only wanted you. A million times I needed you, a million times I cried. If love alone could have saved you you never would have died. In life I loved you dearly, In death I love you still. In my heart you hold a place no one could ever fill. If tears could build a stairway and heartache make a lane, I'd walk the path to heaven and bring you back again. Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same. But as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again. Author unknown
  17. The PH of their stomachs needs to be at a certain level to digest bones, if it isnt right then they throw up as they cant digest them. Not sure why the roo is different though, think maybe its because its a lean meat.... other than that I cant think of why it is. My dog has some allergies and is on a diet of roo and sweet potato only, he has not thrown up or had diarrhoa at all so I am guessing he has a food intolerance to beef or chicken.
  18. My dog also threw up bones when he was younger, he still throws up bones if they are not roo, so I just stick to roo
  19. You could even just alternate dogs and take one this week and one the next week and just practice at home with them both, to be honest mason hardly learns anything new in class - I watch, do a little bit of practice myself so I know what to do and then teach it to him at home.
  20. Amypie I also have never won anything in a raffle etc !!! Congrats on your new jump Ptolomy
  21. Happy Birthday Trixie!!! :D I have been bad, since I went to agility class on wed I have only been practicing my agility stuff
