  1. In WA this is not a police issue, they would refer you to the council.
  2. true, unless you are willing to travel you won't see that much... but I suppose that it's a general make up of various things... i'm not saying I use shows as the only way of assessing breeding stock, but that it is part of what i use. I chose the stud dog for my bitch at the national weimaraner specialty last May. he has since gone on to produce several litters for other kennels and i am using what he produces as an additional assessment tool. Sheridan if you didn't want to use the show ring to assess breed stock, how would you go about finding a stud dog? In wheatens, there's so few people, most know each other and their dogs. It's probably the same for a lot of breeds. Don't know what happens in the breeds with large numbers. Yes but how would you go about picking a stud dog? By the owners then? I agree with you btw, especially national specialtys. :D
  3. Lucky Toby is registered due to his (failed) agility career! Can anyone answer this - I want to bike Toby in a non restrictive tracking harness, but I also want to try tracking ths year... can I usre the same harness or will that confuse him and should I buy a new harness for biking?
  4. I think the user Mason2009 swears by Ellenbrook vets.
  5. I think after postage to WA the Walky Dog would work out about the same.
  6. Where did you get the Springer from and let me know when you find the cheap comptuer thingy.
  7. Perth is pretty big Which area are you in?
  8. The AKC (US) standard for the FCR is quite different then that used by FCI. Does anyone in this thread know if they came up with it as a breed club or if they are based on an older UK version?
  9. Well I have flunked out of this. My dad has "Put away" my camera memory card and I have no idea where it is!!!
  10. I have excellent receptionists at my vet. They put up with me quite well and are always accomodating to my sometimes odd requests (they have written notes for the vet so when my dad takes the dog in even if he forgets something the vet knows, they always put me through to the vet, ask the vet themselves or get the vet to call me). One of them even told me Toby is one of her faviroutes and most of them know my dogs and me
  11. Poor Trixie! Hope everything is ok. This morning Toby got his anal glands expressed, it must be that time of year.
  12. He perfomed like a pro out there. Nice to see setters represent Atleast in the wind no one could see the crap grooming.been a not to plan week with mum in hospital with kidney stones & a full house of boarders & ensuring all the oldies get the special care in the heat. They both got a head/neck & throat trim & the rest was Atleast they have a few weeks off to be spruced up Thats awful about you mum. I hope she is ok. Probably one of the only times you will be glad for all that wind at a show though?
  13. He perfomed like a pro out there. Nice to see setters represent
  14. Yay Ness and Kenz!!!! Can't wait to see the video!
  15. Congratulations again Banjo and Mirawee! And Happy Birthday Ruby!!! I had a nice time last night handling the red kids and am pleased to say they both performed very well That is tough luck with Rommi's toe OSoSwift
  16. RS don't worry food wise My turn to bring some stuff :D
  17. You best because I want someone to video the Tollers going around the ring!
  18. I thought a dog had to be registered within 18 months of birth, so either the dog is very young (and presumably not health tested as some tests can't be done till the dog is a bit older) or not going to be registered at all. The only other thing I can think of is an import and waiting for the papaerowork to be issued on the Australian side but still.... not a risk I would take.
  19. Can anyone remind me what time tonight starts?
  20. If I trained up I could ride that far but Toby is absolutely terrified of bikes, skateboards, anything with wheels and I think even though I am doing positive reinforcement work and he is getting better I don't know what his heart rate would be like though!
  21. I personally would not enter the dog if it was not enjoying it but I would still take it down to the show and after the show is finished or in an empty ring I would take the dog in and play lots of games and give it lots of treats, get a friend to play judge. To me it sounds like your dog sees the ring as a big chore instead of a game. A trick I did with my boy when he was nervous under cover was do some cliker work, I would make a noise or throw something to make him put his ears up (they were back when he was nervous) and click that and treat it. As he got into the game he begun to forget his nerves.
  22. Have someone hold open the closed part and gradually start lowering it.
  23. Very true. I have realised Ruby has lost her "mojo" for heeling, so I am going to have to try ever so hard to pretend she knows nothing and retrain from scratch and make it more fun. I am getting nowhere just "making do" with what I have. Fingers crossed this plan will work, and even more so that I stick to it. This is just for heelwork, though, I will continue training other stuff as she enjoys the other stuff, it's just that darned heelwork What postgrad speciality are you looking at doing? Yeah I am teaching Toby heelwork and I really have no idea what I am doing... so I will probably have to re-do it all in a few months Just watched this video! I love this lab http://www.akc.org/events/obedience/nation.../2010/video.cfm (click on finals) I am torn for what to do postgrad! At the moment I am looking at Speech Pathology, Genetic Counselling or Embryology (IVF).
