  1. Sorry to hear about Bondi! I would never believe it from her! I have never seen a dog bounce spreads so naturally. I hope now you know what it is it will be easier to help her :D
  2. Ohhh where from? (asks the only person sad enough to hang out in this thread without a gundog :D ... yet )
  3. A Large Munsterlander is the only dog in 20 years to qualify for the SA gundog club's award for placings in obedience, retrieveing and showing in the same year A smaller LM bitch would be within Huski's size range but they were brought into this thread because they are a breed I am considering
  4. And here are two Large Munsterlanders: The older dog is Sh Ch Tanzenbach Chevalier and he is the most handsome LM I have ever seen (but a very close second to his dad Sh Ch Tanzenbach Waterboatman!) And this is the adorable rising star of Stommeerploder kennel in the Netherlands, she is called Lizzy and if I could I would fly over and steal her!
  5. Because you asked for it RS A Brittany just for you Huski This is FC/AFC Jazz's Sweetest Little Secret winner of the 2010 National Gundog Championship - at amatuer level And this is Wayside's Blueridge Runner, the 567th Dual Ch (Field/Show) Brittany and in my opinion a very handsome dog The total of Dual Ch. Brittany's now stands at 575.
  6. This week me and Toby have been a little lazy... so here he is putting his feet up. I love that photo of Chazer! The colours go so well.
  7. RV - What about a Weimaraner Longhaired - would tick all your boxes. I love Wei's but I don't see them as 'good with other dogs' in the way I want.
  8. that doesnt' leave many HPRs... spinone, bracco?? I'm waiting for OH to 'let' me have a Bracco. He says no more dogs, so maybe I'll have to get a divorce instead. wanted one for many years now!! spins are furry, all the Griffons are. Korthals Griffon? or slovakian rough haired pointer? very nice!! I also like the Cesky Fousek, great gundog and I'm sure there are breeders in NZ (beautiful!!) wire vizss are stunning and great temperaments. fantastic dogs. another on my list!! absolutely adorable... I can't see a Spin or Bracco doing agility.., and Griffons, Slovakian Pointers and Wire Viz are all a bit wiry (so are Spin actually) It leaves Brittany's, LM and that we don't have in Aus GLP's, Small Munsterlanders, Kooikerhondje(although they are a tolling breed) and Stabyhoun
  9. I am not a huge fan of wire coats... although in my research I have come across some GWP's (or drathaars ) that are the most spectacularly conformed dogs.. at the moment I like Large Munsterlanders, Brittanys and Flat Coated Retrievers.... but that is known to change week to week.
  10. I do so much research!!! I know the most inane and odd facts about several breeds! I can quote parts of the standards for most gundogs The issue for me is that many of the breeds I am considering I can't meet until I travel interstate. But here are my super fussy requirements (they make you look easy-peasy!): -dual-purpose HPR or retriever that I could also do agility with -generally mentally and physically sound -good with other dogs and not too aloof with strange people -furry (no unfortunately no GSP's,weis, Viz ect)
  11. Not to derail the thread but just curious now... when you have a few breeds shortlisted how do you choose one? Each breed obviously has pros and cons and they wouldn't be shortlisted if you didn't like them a lot. I am in a position where I have started to reseach breeds for my next dog which will be a few years away and when I am no longer living at home (I am not so sure about having another dog and Toby under the same roof again) and I am even fussier then you Huski Once I have my next pup unless it's a total clash I never want another breed! I hate choosing breeds and doing hours and hours of research for nothing
  12. Although Toby dosen't want to be on us all the time he will follow me from room to room and when I come out of the shower he will be laying in the study opposite the bathroom waiting for me. At night he usually sleeps on his mat by my window that overlooks the balcony when he could choose to sleep on my bed... however if we are in the living room watching tv he will choose the most crowded couch and squeeze between the people on it I don't really see him as a clingy dog... to me thats a normal dog.
  13. Hi Kylie! I think I met you also I am a bit annoyed about when the Obedience Challange is... I would have loved to help out but it falls right in with Uni Exams Uni dosen't take public holidays so it's more then likely I will have an exam on that day. It would have been really good to watch too...
  14. I like some dogs better then others definately.... years ago a friend of mine had this big slob pet shop lab and it had no personality and always used to cock its leg on everything (neutered) and walk while it pooed on walks, even when it was let offleash it would just sort of wonder aimlessley and pee... I didn't like him even though I tried hard to Usually when I have "hate" feelings towards a dog it lasts for about a second before the feelings get (and rightly so) redirected to the owner.
  15. Nope, I have my future dogs already picked out It's just a matter of deciding which one comes first (Why can't I have them ALL and have them all NOW?! ) 1. Money 2. Time 3. Space Just find a sugar daddy and you'll be fine For me it's finding that one breed I want to spend the rest of my life owning! Plus the fact it has to be a show dog as well is a bit of a hinderance. But I am fairly certain that in a few years when I am ready for the next one I should have the breed totally sussed.... by then
  16. I am sure you vet will be happy to help Bondi Poor thing, it sounds so hard for her. I can't give you any advice other then to give her lots of gentle reassurance.
  17. There is a bull breed rescue in WA I think... maybe try find thier number to give thier number to your cousin.
  18. LOL I like a challenge but I would be miserable living with a lazy dog! I need something that's still active... a lazy dog would drive me up the wall! Beautiful dogs though You could always try an Irish Setter, Gordon Setter or an Irish Red and White Setter.... they are all a little bit more traditionally intelligent then thier English counterparts and they are all supposed to be very very active dogs Yes we have one breeder
  19. The max size is 30kgs or "sibe size" surely a GSP is bigger then this?
  20. An absolutely beatiful breed but too big for huski... they commonly weigh over 30kilos and are much taller then any sibe I have seen. are there any small musterlanders in oz? :D about 20kg and 22 inches. Not yet Hopefully one day I must say to me Pyrenean Shepards look just like a scruffy SWF... I know Silvia Trkman does really well in agility with hers but... still don't appeal to me.... I can see them becoming the next BC though ;)
  21. An absolutely beautiful breed but too big for huski... they commonly weigh over 30kilos and are much taller then any sibe I have seen. EFS
  22. Such a bummer I can't come next Friday... All the best to everyone going!
