Abandoned Dogs In Different Countries
RallyValley replied to Elina's topic in General Dog Discussion
Very interesting thread Elina!!! Makes me want to move to Europe Only problem is my family is in Greece, Italy and Slovenia which is probably not so good with dogs as the Baltic states. :D -
Thanks Ness, I have looked for a medium length one but I cant seem to find an inbetweener, my short one is too short for the ring and that one is quite long. Callicoma Kelpies makes very soft cotton weave leads at custom lengths for really cheap! You would have to google them.

Mason looks great! There is a lot going on and he does not seem phased or distracted by it at all! I also LOLed at the lead in SFE... it just kept going and going! I was very impressed with his SFE. You should be very pleased with his progress :D

Sounds like I missed a great night! Well done everyone And I didn't get any complaints about you lot so it obviously wasn't too rowdy! Does anyone know who got Puppy of the Year and Gundog Puppy of the year?

No I am really new to obedience and only read about it online, and also came into things after the suggestions stage. But maybe the OP is in a similar position and did not know that they can change things when the next lot of rule changes come around.
-
We do get a chance when we have rules reviews, which we have just had for obedience.

Link to nominee Carolyn of Train a Pup Time not working, this is the correct link http://trainapuptime.com/

One of the nominees is from WA and was nominated by me and Golden Rules for her excellent puppy classes!

I wonder why when we could be having a constructive topic about encouraging more people into obedience or why competitors should steward and judge we are having such a negative nitpicking topic. That makes obedience look bad to people who don't understand the sport and the rest of the rules and why we would have a rule in place such as this. To the original poster, care to clarify why you started this thread? Was it because you train in another language and wanted to know if judges approve of it? Although the thread was about changing the rules, obedience recently had a rules reviw, did you put forward your idea then? And before anyone accuses me of being racist or insensitive many members of my family weren't born here and several don't speak english. EFS

:D Lara has gone down hill over the last 6 weeks, we are seeing Deb on Tuesday to talk about where to from here. Poor Lara, I hope it's just a short term thing and she bounces back

Wish I was going! Then you could bring Lara for some Rally Damn work :D

Not 100% on the start time but I believe both days all breeds will be showing at once - 7 rings set up. Snap Ozjen

I voted no. I don't have a problem with people using commands in other languages for thier dogs but if the judge does not know the languge how are they to know if it is two words or one long word, like they could discern for English. For example, I was considering having my commands in Greek and the word "lets walk" was going to be my heel word, in Greek it is one word, phonetically "perpatoume" I would hate for a judge who did not know the language decide that was too long a word and they couldn't decide if it was one word or two and disqualify me.

Monah, Toby is a funny creature (sorry Toby!) but he takes the easy path in life- it would be much easier to sleep on the couch then to not get along with another dog! I think Amypie's Manchester is adorable but she is too little... and a crazy terrier (that part is for Amypie if she reads this post ) There are a few breeds I am looking into but here in WA we are a bit breed deprived so at some point I am going to have to travel to meet them. I am not at this point considering anything outside gundogs (just haven't found something I like enough) and they are all dual purpose (show/field) breeds . -
Well less then a month into 2011 and I am well into one of my goals! This morning me and my mum went for a bike ride with Toby, he was trotting between the two bikes and was more concerened about looking for birds and kangaroos then the bikes He isn't 100% but is much closer, yesterday when we were at the park a bike also rode past and he didn't seem bothered by it although he definately noticed it Need to start on skateboard phobia next.. We also have a tracking harness on the way so are at least taking a step in that direction too.

Toby has a sweet tooth and really enjoys the morning ritual of tricks for Nutri Grain when I have it for breakfast HMm now I now why he looks like he has been in a good paddock over Xmas He is not getting as much exercise being the only dog he just sleeps all day besides his walks, training and when we play with him... and I don't have nutri grain very often! Only when we run out of bread

Thanks for the advice showdog! I have been in contact with Tracy and I was planning a trip to Adelaide mid year to check out some breeds. Will have to do some more research on Welsh Springers too... I did have them on the list at one point but they sort of slipped because there is not much info on them. Tibetan Terriers look cute but I think too much coat We live on a bush block and all I can see is how all the leaves and sticks would get tangled in it's coat if I kept it in show condition. Around the house Toby is very easy going and more then likely if another dog gets physically aggressive with him he just gets sooky and runs to one of us for help, unless he can't get away from the other dog... so flight turns to fright... saying that it is a pretty extreme situation and more then likely Toby would be staying with my brother if I had a bitch in heat in the house, so we could all rest a bit easier. My old girl Lilly was the biggest cow to him... she was a very alpha bitch and was a bit old and sore when Toby joined us and she had no problems telling him when enough was enough which he gladly complied with. Also in saying that Toby is a family dog so when I move out he will stay with my parents and the new dog will come with me. My parents also go down south frequently and they take Toby with them a lot of the time. -

Me and Toby were working on stands this morning :I was eating Nuri Grain with no milk and I was making him down, down to a sit and I just had to lean down and act like I was going to touch his belly and he would stand. He is starting to get it! But I do have a touchy kelpie who when we are training will move away from my body so that makes going from a down to a sit easier! But we have no aspirations for obedience, just teaching stands for Rally-O so I am not fussed what his feet do and not sure if I am runing that with the way I am teaching it!
-
There were lots of kids on the play equipment and some workmen whipper snippering but no other dogs came near us When we were leaving we did see a kelpie at the top part. I find in the middle of the day on a weekday is pretty good for getting it empty... or the middle of the day when it is over 40 degrees.

I figured out why there is that extra hole in the new model iSqueaks! It's so that when they get all wet inside the water comes out without breaking the squeaker We went to riverside in the middle of the day today and we were the only ones there! Toby and Bronson had such a good time playing fetch in the water... Toby is such an unco swimmer though!

No ;) but I am calling a person who is specifically looking for a dog to do obedience and agility and goes out and gets an ES idiotic. Your breed is quite adorable and has the best tempraments for a happy go lucky, easy to live with dog
