Hmmm seriously considering flying from WA for it.... ;)

So jealous, wish I could go! No chance Pat will be visiting WA? ;) PAT HASTINGS PUPPY PUZZLE PRESENTATION Hosted by the Yass District Kennel and Training Club Inc "Puppy Puzzle: The Hastings Approach to Evaluating the Structural Quality of Puppies," this presentation has information to benefit everyone working with dogs and every puppy out of a conscientious breeding program. The single most important decision we can make for our puppies is to determine whether each puppy is structurally sound enough to do what we will ask of it in its lifetime. Whether the hope is for the show ring and whelping box or obedience, agility, field trials or flyball, we owe it to our dogs to know in which lifestyle each may best flourish. Seminar includes the Puppy Puzzle Presentation, plus an extended question-and-answer session on any and all issues related to raising, teaching, conditioning, and caring for show dogs. Pat has been involved in the dog world since 1959. She began her career as an owner-handler, moved into breeding, then teamed up with her husband in professional handling. She is currently an AKC judge of the Herding, Non-Sporting Groups and Working Groups; Junior Showmanship; and Best in Show. She has articles published in a wide variety of dog magazines. Wednesday 4th May 2011 6.30pm St Clements Church Hall, Church Street, Yass $55.00 per head including Hot Supper Tickets available from Coleen Stirton - Ph 02 6226 4524 Email : [email protected] or Yass District Kennel & Training Club, PO Box 129 Yass, NSW 2582.

It's an epidemic! Yesterday Toby was limping and later on in the veneing when I inspected his leg there was a cut on the underside and the top of the foot and he was very senstitive to me handling it and mum piped up 'Oh yeah he did get caught in a fence today'... Silly boy! He's a bit sore.... But in other news his titre scores were perfect!

Retrieving Ability Tests For Gundogs
RallyValley replied to twoblackdogs's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
For people who don't get the Retrieving Club newsletter: Training The beginners’ classes will be at Kingsmeadow, Guildford on Sundays in March starting at 8.30am. We plan to run 3 Training Days as mentioned in the schedule. You will get more details later. The ANKC has introduced 2 new titles for Retrieving. There are 2 levels of Retrieving Ability Tests for Gundogs. Dogs do not have to be Registered, but must be a Gundog type. eg an unregistered Gundog perhaps or a cross These tests can be held at an Obedience trial because a gun is not used and the retrieves done with dummies. At the beginners’ class there will be a demonstration of what’s required and you can practise for the Novice level Test. (Title is NRA) To see the full details please go to the ANKC website and go to Rules, then Retrieving Ability Tests. Looks like the Retrieving club will run the test in WA -
Ideas On Dogs Sports For My Pointer
RallyValley replied to a topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
As far as I am aware the club NOR requires you to pass a few levels of obedience before you start agility. -
Down when you are lying on the floor, sitting, jumping up and down? Down from a sit/stand/when he is running...

That's coz it is too hot Although better today Much better today! Well I got my K9 membership number today so I can now do an entry for the Western classic. I will only be able to get the money order WED and post it off on the same day so all going well it should get in on time How exciting! I hope I can get there to watch. When do you find out if you are rostered on?? I know now I just keep forgetting to get out my roster and K9 news and figure out when/if it clashes.

No problem Sandi Thier not choosing my handling but your handsome lad so a big to his breeder and you. C'mon the dark side would love you I can just see you with a red setter ;) I love your kids too Congrats to all the agility brags! Good work Trim, Shine and Ruby

OMG Mirawee! Thing's aren't going to well for you!
-
my 98% one was the Gordon Setter so i dno lol and i think the labrador was second i cannot remember the rest of them I would not pick a setter as a first choice if I was considering dog sports... A Flat Coated Retriever is a lovely, dual purpose breed that is suitable for a novice owner but also able to take you up to the highest levels of dog sport with the right dog.

Yeah Ice hit close to home for me.. swap a 6 month old lab to a 9 week old kelpie cross ad you have my dog Toby Thankfully Toby's break didn't go through thr skin so no infection so he kept his leg, although it's now wonky. The English Springer was so cute and had me tempted too! I enjoyed the show a lot and will be watching next week definately

Must have been a massive dog to attack a Rott that badly! Hope your friends dog is ok.
-
If anyone has a chance Bionic vet on ABC now has a dog and story so similat to Toby's... only Toby was 9 weeks, not 6 months.

Your Favourite Dog Books (or Dvds)
RallyValley replied to Henrietta's topic in General Dog Discussion
I am currently reading McDowell Lyon's The Dog In Action it's a book about conformation and some of the analogies he uses just sink right in my brain! A tiny bit of the info is out of date (the book was written in the 50's lol) but it's still very informative (and can be purchased quite cheap secondhand!). -
Too Much Rough Play For A Puppy?
RallyValley replied to all creatures's topic in General Dog Discussion
Hmmmm not quite sure what you mean by that last comment? If you don't want advice don't ask, Showdog is just being helpful and if you think just because someone breeds dog thier advice isn't valid or is snobby maybe this forum is not the right place for you. A person like showdog who breeds a small breed and also owns very large active breeds as well as owning a boarding kennel is going to have helpful advice. Maybe try listening instead of getting defensive. :D Best of luck with the new pup and always if in doubt go to the pups breeder :D
