  1. Chazer is so handsome!! Love his point and the effect. I got my insparation for a shoot tomorrow from the physio Toby sees
  2. How much would it cost to post a Dokken dummy interstate? Also I found an awesome blog everyone http://lumi-laddie-test-series.blogspot.com/ Masses of info there from a guy who uses 2Q (Positive reinforcement/negative punishment (i.e taking something away) no collars no force) to train his dogs with a load of drills, training videos and info! I am also loving his online book http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/User:Lindsay_..._for_Retrievers
  3. We have a new dog in the extended family My brother is now the proud owner of a 4 year old stafford bitch who was rehomed by the breeder after the original owners marriage broke up. She is a sweet black brindle bitch and loves cuddling.
  4. or a shetland sheepdog (the breeders in the US say they are sheltie size) Everything is smaller in the Shetland islands :D Shetland sheep http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shetland_%28sheep%29 Shetland Pony http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shetland_pony
  5. Yes Toby knows stationary heel position ( 'line up' for a left/flip finish and 'finish' for a right/behind finish) but I have been a bit wary about the next steps, it seems like such a big thing to teach and I don't want to muck it up! ETA - I just realised why I know the name Fanny Gott - she trained an English Setter to competition obedience. :D
  6. Ok so I am an obedience newb and I am at the point where teaching Toby to heel is the next step... but I keep putting it off because I have no idea which method to use, what the different types of methods are and what works. I am basically clueless. I have been shown some bits and pieces but I do best having a book/dvd/website that I can refer to.
  7. It's a beatiful photo! And just how abstract can you get I was looking at joining my local camera club but (no offence ) if you are 20 years to young I would be like a fish out of water.
  8. In WA if the dog is still there or there is serious injury to a person calling the police as well as the ranger would be advisable. If you a reporting a past event or an injury to a dog then contact the council ranger.
  9. For puppy school - Carolyns Train a Pup Time in Forrestdale http://trainapuptime.com/ For obedience closest to you is Perth Obedience Club's lessons in Vic Park http://www.perthtraining.com/ or Southern River Agility and Obedience Club at K9 grounds in Southern River http://www.southernriverdogclub.org.au/Nav...geName=Homepage
  10. Sounds good... just like Kyzer and Toby agility debuted togther
  11. Of course he will! It's a very far off day though Maybe 2015
  12. Toby just did a 30 sec out of sight sit stay and about 30 secs in sight He remebers his finishes (although they could do with some re-tuning )AND I have decided to start doing heel work with him He is also starting to get 'stand' and stand stays I was stewarding at a mock obedience trial last night and it gave me hope that Toby may one day be able to do CCD.
  13. Ok so this week I had a cheating catch up week - I don't want any blanks in my 52 weeks book so here goes: Week 3 - This is a re-creation of this pic I took of Toby when he was a lot younger. Week 6 - I got a tyre jump So Toby is having a play Week 7 - I was having a look in the garden bed and Toby just jumped on in Finally Week 8, what the grass looks like in WA - I am so jealous of you guys and your green grass! This is what we have here:
  14. I have been a bit slack with the 52 weeks - missing weeks here and there... But I have been inspired by Bella and her beatiful book so I am going to pick up from whetever week we are now and add more on the end
  15. I'd love to come see the Aussies, if you want company Where is the Western Classics? The Western Classic is at K9 grounds, Cnr Warton and Ranford Rd Southern River The Gundog group had the Greek lady on the Saturday (I think, they definately had her one day) - so they will now have the NZ judge.
  16. Just wondering how someone could accidentally put three packs of rat poison in a park. Sounds like a deliberate action to me. Just being the devils adovocate and asking the questions the OP is likely to get if they call up the police to report it - they answered it - that it was speard across a large area ect. I'm glad the OP reported it and that the council is on thier way out - it seems to me like something a ranger would do (i.e search the park for more ratsack).
  17. If you call the police they may advise it is a council issue. Make sure you are clear if it looks like it was deliberte and that there may be more there, however to me it does not sound like a police matter - how do you know the poision wasn't put there by accident?
  18. Change of Judge Due to illness, Mrs Maria Dekaristou (Greece) has cancelled her assignments in Australia - she is extremely disappointed as she has been looking forward to judging your dogs. The Reserve judge listed in the advertised schedule - Mr P Kersey (NZ) - will take over Mrs Dekaristou's judging allocations. We apologise for this situation. However, it is beyond our control. Clint Hudson, Chairperson, Western Classic Working Party
  19. For you and your son. How awful. ;)
  20. I'm sure this is the case in Victoria Yep same here. although I think that in WA you can still sell puppies without papers, as in the litter has to be registered, but you can sell them to their new owners without. Bloody silly in my opinion. Having Limited register and main there is no need to sell a dog without papers. Yes that is the rule in WA I would love to know what can be done to change it!
  21. Not registering every pup in a litter is "legally" wrong.
