  1. At uni all day with classes But I know quite a lot of people from Curtin will be there to represent
  2. Knew you'd say that :p Except that isn't as compact But golly gosh is that puppy adorable!! So many dogs, so little time! I'll never be able to decide :D Also chat to Crazy Cresties, she had a working cocker back in the UK named Fargo ;)
  3. Hmmm you know what that working cocker you posted looks kinda like And they can have plenty of drive too ;) Here is a adorable pup begging to play fetch
  4. Start with a low value treat, even just a bit of their dry food. Put it near them and when they go to take it, just give a little tap on their nose and say 'leave'. As soon as they recoil away from it reward them with a really yummy treat that your holding in your other hand. Keep repeating and making it more difficult. You should only need to do the nose taps a few times, they pick it up quickly. Or just let them see a treat in your hand and then close your fist over it, say "leave it" wait until they stop licking and pawing the hand and then give a treat from the other hand you just grabbed. Repeat the process and build up to having the fist less tightly closed as the dog starts to understand, when you can have an open palm you can move to treats on the ground, or the dogs paws ect. If you want the dog to take the treat and you are not going to reward with another one introduce a take it command. That way you won't have to 'tap' your dog on the nose and they don't learn to associate kibble with 'taps' on the nose. (Sorry to butt in! Accidentaly clicked on the wrong link and then had a browse)
  5. Oh we do this! Especially when I was teaching heel position. If I can find the camera charger tonight I will try and have a session after work tomorrow and film it.
  6. Thanks for the comments Cosmolo! Yes when I was watching back I was suprised how long the session went for and realised why I started to lose him I usually try to wind things up under 5 mins (by my mental clock) but got carried away being on camera obviously I had to watch the video back to see the front again, thanks for the feedback on that. Will try that out next time we train. What is doodling? I have heard it mentioned but have no idea what it is... At this stage we are only heeling in straight lines as I want to learn the turn footwork properly before I am doing heeling turns with Toby so he learns consistency from the start.
  7. Here is me and Toby's training from the other day, a special medal for anyone that can sit through all 6 and a half minutes of it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu...iYIpM&gl=US I have got some things to work on from the video already but as always constuctive critisim is appreciated. Having a couple of days off because Toby is lame so am taking some time to plan training sessions and review how things are going.
  8. Toby is much better today! (But still not 100%) We do play fetch with him but when I am training him I try to throw it right at him and my dad uses a tennis racket and lobs it right up in the air, so it does not go far and he is not tearing after it and suddenly stopping. Having Lilly who was a fetch demon but had arthritis taught us to try and be more clever with how we throw the ball. He has injured his leg before chasing kangaroos and jumping fences so he will always find a way. Best of luck Bedazzled and Ptolomy!!! I am sure you will make us proud regardless of wins and scores.
  9. It may also be good for any kind of social gathering with lots of dogs to spoil... e.g big dog show away with friends - party pack... big competetion camping with friends -party pack ect.
  10. Well done mirawee! Arlo sounds like he will be lots of fun to show We have had a set back with Toby, after so long of being sound he was chasing the ball yesterday and came back limping. Giving it 24hrs and if no improvement it's off to Deb's (and we will try to get in before we go away anyway). Will have to wait and see about training tonight Poor boy, I just sent of some agility entrys and they have now become donations to the clubs . Crazycresties you need to go to my birthplace! Visit Bunbury! Lots more to do and see in Bunbury and surrounds, if you can make a few days of it Dunsborugh is beautiful also. And on a seperate trip Albany is supposed to be quite nice.
  11. Ok I haven't had much of a chance to comment the last few weeks but I had a go at commenting all the week 14 pics Gila-Love your boys expression! Those eyebrows remind me so much of my old girl Lilly, she used to frown at us and raise them at us. Wagsalot- you and Riley look great. He looks so enthusiastic to have a picture with you  Clicking mad – What interesting location are Lotus and Chester? Love Chester’s pic especially, the clarity is perfect and he looks like he is about to take off with those ears. Shell- Zero’s looks so cheeky and like he is playing the best game! Toby does that second face a second before he steals what I am holding and runs off with it. LuvLottie- she is practicing for being an obedience star in her pic obviously! Look at the concentration. Poocow- Moo looks lovely as always! Her eyes are the most beautiful shade of amber. Helen- Chazer looks so happy, I can just imagine his head out of a car window when I see this. Evolving – little Bob looks so serious! 14/52 - 2011 by rallyvalley, on Flickr
  12. Was great watching both rounds Wuffles and LuvLottie! You guys both looked great I hope I look half as composed at my first trial. A good weekend for Aussies! It's a bit boring Like 5 mins long and quite a lot of it is just me playing with Toby.
  13. Just had a filmed session with Toby I must say it's so helpful to know how you are doing. There are a few sections of heelwork that I am quite proud of! However I need to work on keeping it interesting for him and my tone, what I think sounds fine listening back sounded a tad harsh. However I am seeing real potential in this dog it's just if I can bring it out. But I think I am beginning to get an inkling of what it might feel like to be one of the UDX ladies... his fronts are a lot straighter but his right finishes are suddenly so slow! Still only going in straight lines too ;)
  14. No there isn't. Just one lady who lives near the Canine Assoc. I can give you her number if you like? She is often at the Canine Assoc. The quality of the food out ways the effort I go to get it. I live past Joondalup and I still buy it Not a huge fan of talking on the phone out of work after doing it all day. Kibble makes up such a tiny portion of my boys diet it seems like a bit of effort, especially since I only have the one dog who would be lucky to get 3 cups of kibble a week. ;) Text and email seem really popular these days :D But why then ask about the food if you have no intention of feeding it anyway? I'll take that as a compliment. Badger is my third Pointer but first Pointer I've raised on this kind of diet. No offense taken. My mums current Pointer was very thin for until she was about two, but now she has too much weight but sadly my mum can't see this. Guess that's better than a Pointer who has bones sticking out everywhere. So I'm doing my best to keep Badger at the perfect weight and condition for a Pointer I asked about it because although not much my boy still gets kibble and I was wondering if it is available in retail because I would like to support an Australian company but not so keen on chasing down a supplier. Who made you the black hawk police? Isn't this thread for asking questions about the product? Or can you only do that if you already feed it.
  15. I am training Toby for CCD. Maybe CD but I doubt it. We only get 3 'passing shots' in the CCD ring, because of that I want those to be nice passes, I am being quite fussy with Toby. To me, I hate doing a test unless I am confidant I will pass, if I am not it sends me into such a foul mood - watch out - . So with obedience I am not going to enter the ring until my dog is perfoming perfect rounds at home and very good rounds in a distracting enviroment. Also the metronome is awesome ;)
  16. Someone in WA runs in a blue pair of these... he had the unfortunate timing of starting around the time the movie avatar came out and I will only ever think of them now as avatar shoes.
  17. What an awesome pic CC I had a hairdo like that at one stage, after my brother tried to cut my hair and the hairdresser had to "fix" it. I was only 4 and cried for ages and ages that all my hair was gone... still traumatised by it! I won't be there tommorow so Happy Burthday Mason!!! I have come down with an odd virus that saw me almost faint in my lab on Wednesday and I have been feeling a bit weak, doc says I should be ok and thinks I am fighting off the flu or something.

  19. We would do maybe 4kms in about 50 mins on a typical walk, for about 2kms Toby is in an offleash bush area and runs around. We also stop and have some training along the way.
  20. Is there any retail outlets that stock this? The website for the WA stockist is down and I find that the hassle of tracking down a supplier and going to pick it up negates possible cost benefits.
  21. Some Chris Christensen brushes!! And domestic US airfares Hope the $ is still like this in Nov And my dad a kindle for his brithday.
  22. My tests went via Murdoch Uni... which possibly adds $ to the price ;) But still very reasonable to me. :D
