Yes Toby was wearing a yellow bow :p I had kept hold of it since March as I wanted to do a pic with it and figured it would fit into last weeks shot. poocow - Flynn and Storm are both so handsome, Flynn is the big brother right? SammieS- Astie looks so cute in that pic, I can only imagine what Frenchie play would sound like after hearing my brothers stafford snuffle around. Weibritty- Marlo has such fluffy ears! It's such a nice, soft picture. TLC- Classic picture! Very serious easter bunny. Our numbers seem to be dropping as the weeks go on... I have my shoot planned for today... now if only I can get Toby to co-operate.

Protien Levels In Kibble
RallyValley replied to RallyValley's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Thanks for the advice Danios. Frodo's mum the kibble I am considering is 38%. -
I am thinking of using a grain free kibble (Earthborn Holistic Primitive Natural) to supplement my boy's diet instead of the Nutro he gets but the protien content seems really high? How would this effect the dog? Do you feed less? Or no difference? Toby is a moderately active, about 20kg Kelpieish if that helps. Toby is allergic to grass and over the summer (when the grass is dead) he is fine and has no episodes however when there is grass around and he is closer to threshold giving him certain foods (dairy and some really processed things) will set him off.

Looking so pregnant ST!!! How exciting! Not too long now.
-
Thanks for the replies! I will be able to get a pretty limited slip then Ptolomy will work on turns before duration then but duration will just be straight lines and big circles to start
-
Quick questions. In CCD competiton is there a lead length you must have? Also I assume flat collars only in the ring (meaning I must buy a new one as Toby can slip out of his buckle collars, he is that awful on the cusp of two sizes size)? And also would it be wiser to build duration with heeling before I start working on turns or to learn turns and then begin building duration?

Retrieving & Field Training Talk
RallyValley replied to RubyStar's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I did the same Waiting for mine to arrive Love the vid, what a good Kelpie!! Yes I was actually a bit surpised he fetched them :p Expecting to have him run out, sniff and run back without it. I just got the field trial birds... I know they do but at this stage just can't imagine my future Britt pup retrieveing a huge duck! Not until it's fully grown at least -
As a fellow noob here goes, just the basics. CCD- lowest class, heel pattern on leash, followed by figure 8 heeling around 2 people (on leash), followed by a stand for exam (on leash) followed by a 12+m recall (off leash) then sit stays and down stays (off leash with other dogs) CD -Novice - like CCD except all off leash and longer durations/distances. Plus another optional (as in you choose which one) exercise. CDX - Open - Much harder... lost more stuff don't actually know 100% what happens myself so will let the experts fill you in. UD -Utility Dog and UDX - Utility Dog Excellent are for insane people and/or genius dogs... They have to do scentwork, directed jumps, heel patterns with no verbal commands and directed retrieves ect. Also google Rally-O, it will be officiated next year and definately fun for you and Hemi to try!

Retrieving & Field Training Talk

Will watch video at home Linky please to dokkens... want to order some myself. Thought you, me and Mason2009 were going to combine an order! :p We are still going to do a joint order from Lion County right? I need some canvas bumpers and a bigger dokken (I got a quail and a pigeon only) Cabelas postage is - International Standard Surface shipping and handling is 25% of the total order amount or a minimum of $20.00. - so going in togther is not any cheaper, it was $85 AUD for 6 rubber bumpers, and two little dokkens including postage! http://www.cabelas.com/product/Hunting/Dog...%3Bcat104824980 -

I have something to make you all laugh... what happens when you get some dokkens but don't have a gundog but do have a herding dog? (The dokkens are from Cabelas.. couldn't resist with the exchange rate... going to also use them in temp/potential testing a friends wei litter and for my future gundog of course) -
In Albany ;) ... Toby will be in Southern River though.. just about to post a video of how clever he is... maybe he can take Strauss round
-
Unfortunately not. Who is doing the Midland obedience trial the following weekend and are you doing AM/PM/Both? I've entered both cos I'm a glutton for punishment Just trying to see if I will be buddyless at any stage during the day! It's my local so I might pop down to watch a bit of the trial... is it the Sat or Sun?

Ok good. I brought some cookies for all the special agility dogs

Is training on tonight?

The girls are looking good RS A question for the confuzzled.....do you compete within your height class in WA? Thanks :D They are really coming along! Ruby didn't miss a beat in jumping all weekend! The only thing she fluffed out of 6 runs over the weekend was her agility final The girls both measure at 53cm so are in the 500 jump height, which is what they compete at. I hope that answers your question? :D TSD each height was a seperate class and had thier own placings at states... is that what you meant?

Well done Ziggy and Cindy and PAX.

Tactile Sensitivity In Dogs
RallyValley replied to Jigsaw's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I have heard Kelpies have space issues while working, don't know if it's true for all of them but I certaintly found it was for Toby. -
Kalamunda show was very good today! The general public were really mingling and asking lots of questions there didn't seem to be a big entry though. I heard about the horse when I got home, how awful Well done RS! Must have been an awesome feeling getting called up 1st and 2nd with your girls and your first agility title There was an adorable Kelpie pup at the show today that was either black and tan or brown and tan

15/52 - 2011 Toby also had a bath this week! It must have been the week for it, sadly Toby's before and after shots show practically no difference cause he has no hair.
