Sorry to hear Rotties and Rags. Congratulations to Strauss and Ptolomy. I get to go and visit ST's litter tomorrow but James goes home

Way to go Scoota!!! Are they local judges? My week has been good news and bad news... you all know about the spider bite for Toby, then two practical exams and a big chem test (passed the chem test don't know about the others)... laptop is on the out - don't get me started on insurance companies .... and tonight Toby was running around out the back and ran into a fence picket - two teeth smashed up - going back on Monday to get the bits out, Toby was so nonchalant about it all, starting to think he can't feel pain! Vets were great too. So now Toby is getting green cream on his spiderbite and pain medicene and antibiotics. I am seriously starting to think if Toby was a human child I would have DCP onto me Poor dog!

So much happens in a day!Look at all the people getting Lappies! This is a picture of a couple of pups from the litter! They are so smooshy and cute I am 99% sure I am going to name her Zora :D -
Kathy is excellent as is Danielle from K9PositiveWorks. Both are well qualified, very expirenced and friendly. Maybe a session with one of those ladies is a good starting point then joining a dog club once you work on some of the bigger issues. There is no flyball in WA (which would be perfect for you boy!) but there is a dog club in Northern Suburbs that does training on the weekend and you can progress to agility there too. I have never been to the club but a few DOLers go and love it there. Also with the future dogs you refer to - if you are going to have them at the same time as Kobe I would try and get a hold on any issues first in case he teaches the pup his bad habits. Would love to see a picture of Kobe! He sounds cute Also in the general section is a WA thread so you should come introduce yourself there.

They are 3 weeks and in Victoria. They will start to get really cute over the next few weeks! The darker one is the one that looks like the one I may be getting so far... And there will be lots of puppy cuddles (i.e socialization for pup! )

Just a quick post while I am having a study break... ETA might work better if I put the file in

Time outs can be effective if used properly but don't see how they would work for the OP in the situation they describe, here is an example of how I use a time out when training Toby: e.g I am at obedience training, I have high value rewards with me, I am working with the dog doing heelwork (for e,g). He is sitting at heel and looses focus to a dog barking - I wait a few seconds to see if he offers focus, he does not, he breaks heel position and gets more distracted. I walk him back to the car and put him in. By the time I get him back out (usually a max of 5 mins) he is egar to continue the session. I have been doing this with Toby over time who is an easily distracted dog (with some social issues) and over time his focus has built alot (greatest achivement so far - heeling with attention while a strange dog was having a noisy game of tug 3m away) (As well as trying to work him a distance from distractions that does not set him up to fail)... but I digress...

They only found tracks of one dog which made them believe it was a lone dog. I hope the dog is found and the owner euthanized.Especially after not coming forward when thier dog came home covered in blood and all the news coverage started. RIP Crystal...

Ask your dog's breeder what they recommend. They will know the best diet for a dog of that age/size/breed.

Welcome Chihuahalover, and hi everyone else. Dwilds....you must be really patient...that is a long wait for a puppy. I have spent a long time on wait lists, but at least once the puppy is here you know it is only going to be 8 more weeks - not 10 months!! Ralley Valley, how exciting! I love Brittany's. There is one that I see walked near us regularly. Drifter, Daisy is a cutie! And Bianca, have you had an update? We had a fantastic weekend here and I am officially on puppy countdown!! We will have a little curly cutie pie joining our family this coming weekend! We visited with the puppies yesterday and they are all gorgeous, happy, confident puppies. There are 2 boys that would suit us, so I am now just waiting to hear which one will be coming home! I am soooo excited! Will let you know when I hear and then post a picture of our little guy! Is this a Curly Coated Retriever? How exciting I wish I could visit my pup No, a Belgian Laekenois. And yes, it has been great being able to visit the pups . My last two were interstate, so only got to see them the day they came home. Sorry. Still very exciting! They are pretty rare right? That must have been quite the wait! -

what happened? Yes I am curious too If it helps I ran into the ring rope and had to admit to the judge I couldn't stack my pup - then when she went to look at his teeth he rolled over on his belly - this is under an international judge and the first dog in the group - only saving grace is that he was a baby and the judge was very kind :D

RV made me do it She found another website that does them with cheaper shipping and it wasn't any cheaper to go in together as they charge 25% of the cost of the total order for shipping, or a minimum of $20. So I ordered one a fortnight ago with half a dozen dummies. http://www.cabelas.com ;) I still need more stuff So happy to do a group order later in the year I need some canvas dummies and a proper duck sized dokken. ETA - Toby is no longer allowed to play with the dokken after I noticed a few teeth marks...

Correct The head and feet are hard plastic and the body is a soft foam, plus the head is attached by string so swings freely. They get hit by the little hard head if they shake it (lesson 1) and it's must more comfortable to hold the body where there are no feet (lesson 2) and they are bird size and weight (lesson 3) It's a way to dogs used to birds without the excitement of a bird. I only have little species of bird - one is a quail and I can't remember the other - because they are what is used in field trial retrieves and Brittany's are only little :D

Kelpie(ish)+Dokken ;)

Can I ask what benefits there are using a dog dryer vs a regular hand help human hair dryer? I groom my own boy, and just use my own hair dryer set on the lowest heat function. I'm careful not to over dry his coat. I have never looked into a dog dryer before, but thinking it might be something I should look into. I have played on an special dog dryer, the benefits are: 1)On a stand/rack no need to hold them 2)They are crazy strong- but no heat There are other more show related benefits too! If I had hairy dogs I would definately invest in one.

Yay!!! I love mail. I got a puppy collar and leash the other day... It's so ittby bitty it's hard to believe that puppies are ever that small! Plus I finally get to buy girly stuff again :D

I must admit after ozjen's story buying babble balls is very, very low on my priority list

Bugger! RV, we may need to readdress our upcoming agility plans... I had already thought we would be because Ruby's not 100% no stress I will still come down to cheer I wonder if NFC in JDO could be an option? ;) Anyone know if NFC is available for Open classes?? I'm hoping she'll be fine by the 18th/25th June, because we're dying to get back out there! Vet thinks so. Will be great to have your company, regardless But we'll make you have a run SOMEHOW, ok!!!! Yessir! Can't wait to get out to some more dog things! I am having trial/show/training withdrawl too.

We have two tug a jugs here and Toby isn't interested But James loves it! Thanks guys for the well wishes! Toby is acting perfectly normal, such a sotic guy... unless there was a gross patch in the armpit of his left fore you wouldn't even know. Put a sock and some vet wrap - he is now walking like a drama queen - he lifts that foot so high it hits his belly with every step
-
Turns out the infected patch is a spider bite! Getting cortisol and anti inflammatory injections and cream. Vet also thinks that may be why he has been a bit lame. Have to sock one of his feet to stop him scratching how do I get one to stay on?
-
Ptolomy if you look back a week I outlined my training attendence then ;) This week no (big chem test & 2xpractical exam) next week yes, week after and the next week no (exam weeks) then yes for the rest of the year because I have learned my lesson and won't be stupid enough to take on more units then I can handle :D Toby is usually allergy free all summer and breaks out in winter. The vet suggested that since all the grass is dead - no reaction and he only reacts to green grass and my super clued in behaviourist ( ;) ) suggested maybe he is allergic to mould/damp ect.He is odd though.
-
There are only 4 ouos, two girls and two boys. One girl looks promising but will have to wait and see Toby has not been itching too much but overnigh his red sore armpit has turned swollen and slimy... it smells like the bacteria we use in microbiology Taking him to the vet to possibly get some AB's and some medicated cream (ours is past expiry date).
