Ankc - What Changes Would You Like To See?
RallyValley replied to Keshwar's topic in General Dog Discussion
Maybe something easy to do would be brouchers to hand out at vets and obedience clubs for cross bred and BYB dogs (assuming pure bred pups owners will have the info) explaining about Canine association, the events that are offered with an explanation of clubs in the state you can contact to give it a try. Also with info about why not to make the next family member a BYB or cross bred with info about rescue dogs and registered breeders. Then hope that the person will be interested enough to try some sports, register thier dog to compete and the next dog they get they will hopefully get a purebred dog or ethical rescue. Canine associations need to promote purebreds and dog sports more, there is actually not much out there and some of the websites are not general public friendly e.g http://www.dogswest.com/ -
I can't believe that you missed Orange boy ST! Can't wait to see him (and the others ;) ) on Sunday. No new puppy pics yet for me because it has been too rainy and snowy but hopefully will get some soon. :D

Don Burke Takes On The Pedigree Dog Industry
RallyValley replied to warval dobe's topic in In The News
You are right. In the article he invites pedigree dog breeders to contact the magazine to give their opinion. Starting an discussion/arguement with him gives his opinions value, and we know they don't have any! Yes I hope no-one writes in. That would imply someone reads his crap. ;) -

RallyValley replied to Keshwar's topic in General Dog Discussion
People don't even have to cross over to participate. Holding events in the same location would suffice. Quite a few National breed shows have both conformation and performance events. In WA almost all shows are held at the same venue, we have a lower sports oval and an upper showing oval. Very rarely will you find some one going to the other oval to watch the event thats on. -

To try and bridge the division between showing and other sports. If more sports people showed and more show people did sports revenue would increase and show breeders may steer more puppy buyers towards sports, and sports buyers shows ect. -
Well done CC. Your shots is awesome. Your first place is going to come after a shoot with a Brittany puppy

Aww Ruby she looks so sad. Wishing her a speedy recovery. I would get Polaramine RS its the most effective although it does make them drowsy.

RallyValley replied to RubyStar's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Does anyone have a link to buy dummies that suit RAT off the shelf? Preferably on the smaller side. -
Whats going on with Ruby?

Hmmm... his heelwork is good but we haven't done much duration work. His stands are hit and miss... And I haven't even started with stays properly. But I think our next trial is like September, so we have a while to practice Thanks RS! The videoing was great :D It's so great when you have people there to film.

Great job RV & Toby may I ask a silly question what it NFC?? NFC is not for competition class. So basically the judge is aware you are learning, you cannot have food in the ring, but could (if you wanted) praise your dog, or only do one or two exercises ect.

For those interested here is Toby's recall in CCD NFC.. He did even better then I remebered, very happy with him.

Moo Goo Shampoo As A Dog Wash?
RallyValley replied to Red Fox's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I would be wary... MooGoo shampoo reacted badly with my hair - after using it for about a month and having my haor go very very greasy (normally dry hair) I went to the hairdressed to find out what was going on. The Moogoo had left a build up coating on the hair and it took a stylist 4 washes with a stripping shampoo to get it all off... It was completely gross - they said they had never seen anything like it. -
Just spent the evening playing with 6 adorable puppies! I actually contemplated stealing one ;) Puppies are the cutest thing ever! Especially orange ribbon... I am so his fav, he kept coming up to me and wanting to settle in my lap - such a cuddly little sook. :D

My kelpie managed to cheat his tug-a-jug - don't you know the easiet way to get the treats out is to chew through the rope? Kari sounds like a bit of a terror! I imagine the oranges in your bed was quite the icing on the cake. Perhaps she was trying to make you breakfast in bed.

Staffy - Looking For Advice (help)
RallyValley replied to Gammalite's topic in General Dog Discussion
I lived in a situation where the dogs in my house didn't get on. One of the dogs ended up going back to the breeders, the Kelpie x that stayed with me has been having rehabilitation for the last 6 months to correct all the issues living in constant fear and being bullied caused. I cannot tell you how awful it will be if things escalate between Astro and the new dog, I have physical scars from breaking up fights. My mum who I live with has become quite scared when she sees two dogs playing togther, even nicely, because of it all. If you want to keep the new girl you must be prepared to have the dogs live seprately, behaviourists and rehabilition for both dogs ongoing, possibly for thier whole lives - kind of takes the joy out of dog ownership. -
See he knows - he's trying to turn into a Toller (a very big one)

Hmmm Bronson my friends Black lab would counter your point ;) I think that it is quite possible colour and temprament can be linked, I also think that 'bad temprament' in choc Lab's would likely be because apparently they mixed Chessies in with labs in WWII which have a much harder temp then a lab. I think dogs with orange are the smartest - just look at Sandi's kids ;) (And not at Andrea's James )

It is not a police matter. Unless its criminal fraud its a civil matter. The lady will likely have a tough time proving anything though she likely paid cash, no receipt ect. Not sure how it is fraud - no health garuntees with a byb mongrel. It is sad though.

Have you enquired as yet about vacancies for puppy classes? Are you starting term 4? Miss Zora is starting week 2 of term 3 and i.did enquire
