  1. I love it! Especially since my girl has an American background so I can track her ancestors. It's very interesting how early some breeders started hip scoring, then you hear about breeders today that don't, especially in high risk breeds!
  2. I just did it, seem to be a few too many bull breeds, I am wondering if it's actually something to do with them...
  3. Artemis Fresh Mix Maximal has almost all your requirements except contains tomato pomace: http://www.artemispetfood.com.au/dog_23.htm It's available in Aus and gets a 6* rating on that website.
  4. She sounds like she is powering along TSD! I tried out my new power grip on my Dokken today. Turns out they make you too powerful and powered my Dokken straight into a tree. After spending half an hour throwing rocks at it I gave up...
  5. When they talk online about 3" - they are meaning the width. ;) Check with your RATG group perhaps? Ours seems to have a manufacturer here and they are reasonably priced. There is no RATG Group in WA ;) I don't even think there are plans for a RAT. Might try and include one in a potential trip east next year
  6. Dummies should be made of a soft material, e.g. canvas or plastic, and be of a subdued colour. Dummy length should be in the range 25cm to 31cm in length, with a circumference of between 20cm and 27cm and a have weight of between 300gms and 450gms and must be free of all feather and fur.' According to the RAT rules these are the dummies needed, now 20cm is 8", the biggest dummies I can find online are 3" ones! Where did you all get your dummies?
  7. I guess a stand because it's traditionally done that way.... I actually don't know enough about field trialling to know the answer to that ;) ETA - A google tells me that some people believe a sit will break the dogs focus on the bird, especially if sits are used when casting the dog (i,e it does retrieving too).
  8. Sounds like you are doing great LL Good luck to everyone going to the nationals :D Zora is getting better with her play retrieves now, she loves to fetch and we have a short session each day. She isn't a huge fan of water at this stage but I am sure that will come.
  9. Ok, basically for field dogs a VERY solid 'Woah' command is needed, its basically a stand stay command but able to be given at great distance, the dogs stands still instantly and in the face of overwhelming temptation. The dog must not move until you verbally or physically release it. Obviously you have to split this into many many tiny parts but I have no idea how to start it, here is a video of a dog approaching the finished product: There are all sorts of wonderful and weird methods out there, making the dog stand on barrels, jerking it on a long leash ect. I have not seen any methods I could use and I have about 8 months to train it, so if it takes 100 tiny pieces thats ok Any DOLers have any creative methods?
  10. Fingers crossed here. I can't imagine how awful it must be for you.
  11. She has been good, from about 11 weeks on we have has maybe one accident every second day, sometimes a few days without one.
  12. So sorry to hear about your mum Ptolomy And yours too Mim. Hope they are both back to 100% soon. Tiggy- When I went to get Zora for training she was that kind of coma like fast asleep. I think two walks, having Bronson around, having a bath and two training sessions is just too much in one day for a little bub. She didn't wake up until 30 mins ago Next week we will be more careful
  13. The bathrooms on this house are so outdated we are lucky they have hot water
  14. She goes in the pretty full bathtub and I use a cup to wet her.
  15. Thank god she is well behaved being bathed.
  16. You should have seen K9 last night It was half underwater.
  17. After falling in a muddy ditch little miss just had to have a bath, it took three wash throughs before she was white again! Does anyone know if K9 has recovered today, not keen on getting my sparkly white pup gross and muddy.
  18. I did something a bit naughty My neighbours dog roams on the road and he is friendly enough and seems to be car savvy, but today he brought a BCx with him that looked a but skittish and when I called out to them he ran off onto the road. I called the ranger because I am worried for the BCx.... I hope I don't get the neighbours dog in trouble though (even though it pees on our outdoor furniture and pot plants).
  19. Yes by the time she is ready for junior handlers Zora will (hopefully) be a sensible older girl and her dog to handle ;) Brittany's are conveniently sized.
  20. What AP your saying that I paid for a retrieving DVD and I STILL have to actually teach my dog the stuff? Zora's breeder recommended Black Hawk so I use it. She's never been on anything else... maybe I can blame the Black Hawk for her being feral! Toby also gets it, he's on a cup a day and going well, he has had allergy break outs but I am 99% sure it's seasonal as my dad mowed down the paddocks the other week and his allergies have subsided.
  21. Hmm not game to put my power grips on yet... I think it will just encourage the little bitch to pick it up by the string.
  22. In case Faolmor does not get back soon I will attempt an answer.... more then 1 but under 4
  23. Yes I agree Faolmor, since when has it been against the rules for people to cheer A congratulations was missed - another ring debut today, Faolmor's little girl did an awesome job handling Foinni in kindy handlers ;) Hope you get to the bottom of things quickly.
  24. Thanks boxagirl, can't wait to meet Booker! Zora had fun today and did enjoy meeting so many new people and dogs! Toby had a go at rally too. Big thanks to Candice who made that possible Zora got 2x Baby of Breed but it was ST's babies that stole the show ;)
