I was going to put up a puppy pen using some Bunnings puppy cages but no, there is no part on my property besides in the house that is 100% escape proof. However if we are out the back it's about 50m each way before you hit a fence and the only fence that joins to a road is about 200m away.

Also MG Gibbs is just adorable! I am so excited you are showing him, it means I will get to spend lots of time with him
-
RS (and maybe MG) also a note that the boundary fences we have are wire fences and your puppies could probably fit out of them if they tried... I would hate for you guys to lose concentration and for a puppy to go off exploring so I am giving a warning now ;) . ST given Lulu and JT are bigger then Toby you should be fine If there is anyone else coming besides RS that has not been to my place before let me know and I will PM you my address.

MG she would be welcome to bring the puppy BUT (and this is a big but for everyone to remember) Zora (and JT and Lulu and I think Pippa) are fully immunised and has been to lots of places, including places I consider 'high risk' like the Dogswest grounds. As long as your friend (and anyone else who wants to come with a puppy) realises this and is ok with it she is welcome.

Sounds like it's me you and maybe RS and CC then? (Can't remember who else was on the list) ;) RnH Tori is very adorable! There is almost one DOL show baby in each group! We have Gibbs, Zora, Lulu, JT, Booker,Tori and Jerry (sorry if I forgot any!)

MG I have had a relapse puppy - my parents are away and while I am at work Zora is home alone for 8 hr periods, needless to say I have been coming home to messes. (Both of destruction and toilet kinds)

Massive Congratulations Ptolomy and Scoota!!!! :D
-
Which ones are show turns again? I have to teach Toby both for Rally anyway.
-
Toby had a lightning bolt shaped needle once  He has improved very much going to Deb but when he does go it's always his shoulders, neck, pecs, around his hips - it all gets thrown out by his crooked leg. Hope James will be feeling 100% soon!

Your pup is very cute! Hope getting chipped went well. They are doing burn offs out the back of Kalamunda and my whole house is smokey and I have a headache

Retrieving & Field Training Talk
RallyValley replied to RubyStar's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
FHRP (and anyone else who may be interested in UG field trial stuff) I am very excited! I found out that a dog from Zora's breeder whose owner has been giving me advice with field work won the WA WGAA State Champs! Apparently he beat the National Ch. too Definitely noticing Zora is starting to get more birdy - she has been stalking and pointing birds in the yard. Zora is in that teething stage now, so until she has her adult canines we are planning on working on obedience/whistle work (recalls, change of direction, starting woah, whistle sit) as well as her puppy agility and obedience stuff -
Good luck Ptolomy! (And Bedazzled and RS if you are going!) Had a very motivated day today and did a few little training sessions with both dogs that went great. Plus on Monday at training Toby made me soooooooooo proud by offering me focused heelwork close to other dogs, working, tugging, squeaking balls....

Only a moron whould consider her anthing other than a moron. You don't have to be a Liberal voter to work that out. Nice ignorant view ;) Must be a close minded Liberal
-
Ah ok. Well Liberal supporters will say shes a moron no matter what ;) And people will always make judgments over whether someone will be fit to own a dog without knowing the full situation
-
Well, I bought a poodle cross 3.5 years ago. I had no idea it came from a puppy farm. By your statement above I'm a moronic idiot. Charming. My dogs are better socialised, better exercised and better behaved than most other dogs I know. I don't agree with her buying a poodle x, but how can you say that she hasn't researched the commitment a dog takes? Her partner does not work in a traditional full-time job, maybe he is doing the caring. Barack Obama has a much more stressful job and he has a dog. I've seen pics of it lying in the oval office while groups come to visit. It stays calmly and seems very well adjusted. If people want to highlight the evils of puppy farming, better stick to the facts and stop the name calling. Yes but being informed would you still get a poodle cross? The idea would be to inform her before she has the dog so she can make an educated choice after knowing where her puppy is coming from.

Unable To Keep Dog Thats Under A Contract
RallyValley replied to pinkpuppy's topic in General Dog Discussion
How do you know he/she wont? You haven't even asked them yet...... OMG For all you know when you contact the breeder they might say 'yes we will pay the full purchase price' yet you are ranting as if they have refused!!! -
Contact the PM and let her know how disgusting puppy farms are http://www.pm.gov.au/contact-your-pm (I am )
-
She needs a feisty but friendly red head with street appeal... just like the one I have at home, so a Brittany ;)
-
Well done RS and girls.
-
What is wrong for rewarding the pup for sitting and holding that position? How would you train stays and keep a dog in drive then? (Genuinely curious, still don't really get 'drive')
-
Awwww look at her work Have you done anything with the bird wings I wonder how much the photogenic aspect of a dog will affect my next dog decision He's a handsome boy RV My dad helped me out with the wing (I went out while he was chopping wood) I have been doing a tiny bit of work with it but since she is loosing teeth like nothing else, so when she looses the next couple thats the front done and we can start playing fetch again! Also Brittany's are very photogenic ;) No problem fetchindawgs always happy for advice from people who know what they are doing. Luckily I had already been told the same by someone before (or read it somewhere) so we have been on hiatus from retrieving stuff and working on obedience and show stuff.

That's all well and good if you think having good manners is important in a sport dog, IMO I would intentionally be training any new pup of mine NOT to have manners ;) I don't have a sport dog, I have a pet that I enjoy sports with, so does the OP ;) I live with a family and my dog lives in the house so they need to have manners to co-exist with each other. How would you train a pup not to have manners and why? Do you think a dog being able to listen to a command (i.e do not take food unless offered from a hand or a bowl/plate ect. without permission) will somehow lessen it's desire for that reward?
