It's a shame they don't have trials where you can test the Whippets at what they were bred for.

BUMP - Page 2!! Ok a question as well, are there any WA DOLers or do any WA DOLers know people that would be interested in competing in a Retrieving Ability Test? I have been having a chat with Lynne from the Retrieving Club and she mentioned I might like to come to the AGM and help promote the RAT when it is discussed. I know that RS and ST would be interested, for all other gun dog owners it involves an off leash heel in a straight line for 20-30m, a recall at 20m and 2x single mark retrieves, one of which may be in water. It is likely the RAT will be done with canvas dummies, not birds ( Ptolomy and MG). Anyway trying to build a listed of interested people to help plead the case for a RAT.

LR I will be there on the 30th. It's Zora's last outing in baby puppy :D

Doing some dumbbell work last night, it just comes so much more naturally to Zora, I swear she is almost at the same level as Toby who has been doing it for 6 months! Any advice for down stays? Toby can do long sit and stand stays without fidgeting but as soon as he is in a down he fidgets, pops up, comes over to say hi.

The Best Seat In The House

Here where they can look out the window onto the road. Now we have two vying for it ;) -
Mostly this but a bit different. I was involved in agility before showing and have only been in showing for a few years I probably class as a younger exhibitor (21) and at shows my friends are all similar age or a little bit older. Recently at the Perth Royal a young girl who was awaiting a puppy in my breed to arrive from over East came up and introduced herself, she expressed an interest in showing. I talked to her for a while and exchanged details, if it turns out that her pup is not able to be shown (she hadn't realised she had to ask the breeder about that until I told her) I will invite her to handle my bitch when she is better behaved and let her know about Junior Handlers. I also encouraged her to look into agility if she can't show. I have also recruited a field trailer to showing (very excited about handling his dog) and a second is likely to start next year. These are all dogs in my breed and potential 'competition' to my dog, two of the people I have encouraged have bitches similar ages to mine (one a few months older, one a few months younger) but I really don't care! I would rather see the dogs out there. I am interested in UG Field Trialling, the people who compete locally have been soooo helpful, inviting us out to trials, training days, one trailer even invited us along to ongoing private training sessions that do not benefit his own dog, just some up and comer pups. These people seem to remember that they will become extinct without new blood, not see everyone new as competition, when did show people stop caring? Also just a note - obedience is NOT flourishing as someone earlier mentioned, numbers are dropping in that too.

Main register you are paying for access to bloodlines, my girls breeder has spent many $1000's of dollars importing new bloodlines from the USA. I didn't mind paying a small amount extra to have access to those bloodlines and think the breeder has every right to charge a couple of $100 extra, would have even paid more ;)

What Brand Of Dry Food Do You Feed Your Dog?
RallyValley replied to Baileys mum's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Mine are on Earthborn Holstic - we get it cheap from the agility club and help raise funds for them by buying it, win-win. Plus the older dog has allergy issues so I find that grain free fish based kibble is good. -
I am getting mine done on Sat... Bye bye curls

I have a bitch that will be bred pending health tests, I will keep my eyes out for upcoming dogs but I already have a pretty good idea who I will use. She is 5mths and her litters will likely occur around 2 years and 5 years. If I got a puppy enquiry now I would let them know what sort of time frame it will be and refer them to other breeders if they are looking now. As they say though "Man makes plans, God laughs".

So many Greeks live in South Africa Would lol if they were of African descent though.

Seriously MG you will be fine. I went to one show before I showed Lincoln and one show class where the instructor was so mean to me she made me cry! My first show was the Western Classic under an International Judge and I was scared Lincoln might growl at the judge when she tried to mouth him. BUT I had the support of ST, Falomor and everyone else and I survived. ;) Now what excuse could you possibly have that is anywhere near as scary as my first show?
-
I am 100% sure someone else will take Gibbs in for you. Plus I am taking in a 6yo dog with 0 show training and have to go in first, everyone will be too busy still laughing at me to even look at you and Gibbs ;)
-
Jealous of all you guys! I was looking forward to agility. Now I will only get 3 agility lessons this term between KC and then USA. In other news I am soooooo excited that on the 13th of November Zora will have competition in the Brittany class! I have convinced another Britt owner to let me show their lovely boy! And Toby and Zora just brought me the paper - so cute!

Happy Brithday Scoota and Dekka!

Fine, no coughing since yesterday morning. Toby has not coughed but that dog has been exposed to kennel cough before and not caught it either.
-
Well done Ptolomy! Sounds like the stud dog might need a new adjective! ;)

Just realised something a bit insane! Because of the time difference of LA and Aus I have the 19th twice! But for you guys it will be the 20th. Anyway on my LA 19th I am pretty sure I am going shopping for Cowboy boots then off to Saddle Ranch for dinner, cheap drinks and mechanical bull rodeo
