Retrieving & Field Training Talk
RallyValley replied to RubyStar's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Some passerbys thought we were on Saturday I am sure Really proud of Zora, she definitely understands her "job" now and was keen to find the birds, quartering well and enthusiastically and stopping still when she found them. She also backed the decoy pointer. Now we are on hiatus until it cools down again then will be joining the big dogs ( ) at their training days. So we will be working on the skills we can without birds. -
This will be my dilemma soon ;) Except I am not really interested in the video capabilities, purely for photos!

I fly out in 11 days!

Forecast for Monday A few showers, heavy at times with the risk of a thunderstorm. Fresh to strong and gusty W/NW winds. Precis: A few showers, heavy at times. City: Max 23 Mandurah: Max 22 Ooohh I don't train on Mondays so never worry about the weather Yes but you always know the weather!

Starting to realize how annoying it will be to leave the dogs for three weeks. I have started preparing mum and making sure she will comb Z's ears and even brought some bitch pants just in case she has her first season while I am away.

What's the forecast for tonight AP?

What Is The Right Way To Enter.....
RallyValley replied to Shazzapug's topic in General Dog Discussion
I must be hated then! I recently sent in three entries, all the dogs had different owner names with one cheque. I wrote the cheque number on all the entries and we don't worry about having numbers sent in WA. -
Some Ideas To Keep Heelwork Exciting
RallyValley replied to Mason_Gibbs's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
If Toby gives me a poor effort he goes away. I then train the pup or just 'have some fun' - i.e throw around his Cuz etc. He will then get a second chance, I will start for asking something easy/fun and rewarding well then asking for the behaviour I had a poor effort with, usually he is MUCH more interested. If he isn't that's it he is done (And I have driven all the way down to K9 and not trained with him a few times). -
Problem is now solved! I will be borrowing CC's body and have started my Canon lens collection for when I get a Canon next year ;) I now am waiting on a Canon 50mm 1.8 and Tamron 70-300mm :D

Ok so I am in a dilemma, I am going overseas in less then 2 weeks and I dropped one of my kit lenses a 4/3 40-150mm lens (80-300mm equivalent). My only other lens is a 14-50mm (28- 100mm equivalent). Both lenses have a high maximum aperture (around 5) and I am going to be in gloomy weather for much of my trip. I am going to have to spend at least $250 to replace the lens and would love to upgrade to something better however this has really forced my hand as I have been considering jumping ship to Canon or Nikon next year. So what is a good mid range Canon or Nikon SLR? Is it possible to get a mid range Canon or Nikon and a fairly versatile lens for less then $1200? I might have to buy a new camera ( ) because it would be the worst thing ever to have not very good pics from the trip!

Congratulations! You have put in the work with her and it shows. I would never have guessed that was her first trial, she handled the whole atmosphere well and it seems to me you only concern in future is where you will put all your trophies and ribbons! ;)

Sounds awesome TSD! I am up at the crack of dawn tomorrow for another field training session. Will try and take a video camera :D -
I agree absolutely, why don't you give it a go CC ? give him a cuddle from me and I hope he is better soon. Yes I recommend this, also! Saying that though, I have just made an appointment for my girls first Bowen session. Don't know what to expect as I am pretty clueless with this stuff, but I'm open to try new things! I think Millie may be sore, her training demeanor has changed slightly. Ruby is training much nicer than she has in a while but I know she gets sore from her appointment with Deb, so both kids will get a seeing to We're booked in on Monday arvo... so I won't be training that night. RV, I will still come down and do an SFE and whatever else if you want That's ok RS have the night off ;) If Toby's brain is working on Saturday evening we can maybe try a SFE then.

It's awful to hear about Louis CC! I hope he's feeling better soon!

I did. I think RS has it. I can't remember who got what. :D RS thinks she has it and has PMed me. Thanks Tiggy!

Good to have you back ST! Does anyone have a copy of Susan Salo Puppy Jumping to sell/lend? Using her exercises with jump bumps at ACWA and it really makes sense! Something I want to be able to work on over the summer...

Dogs Not Recognising Members Of Their Own Species
RallyValley replied to raineth's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Hmmm my Britt is almost completely white and I have yet to have an antisocial experience with her.... Fingers crossed it does not happen. -
Ok I know I have missed lots go brags so just Congratulations everyone and their awesome dogs!

Had an awesome session tonight. Zora was pretty good offering focus and playing tug with other dogs nearby. Toby did some nice heel work and good focus with dogs playing agility nearby, getting back on track after missing lots of weeks. Huski in WA most of us keep out gear in the car ;)

Have to say I don't really blame you, a massive long trip home, another to training and another home. Since I started working closer to home I am more willing to go to training when I used to be a bit meh before.
-
Fingers crossed for Bondi. After 5 weeks off I am more then ready for agility class!!!
-
::p: I finally get to go back to ACWA tonight. So excited! I bet Zora will be feral!

I know!!! Insert laughing emoticon (On iPhone).... Mum goes 'That looks like a brunette Zora, only with half the legs'
