Yeah AP the speciality was so much fun! It was great to see so many Britts and learn so much. Handling was a bit scary but I am now glad that I did it!

Mate - I have to sell the house I think to pay for all my entries - I didn't see it mentioned - will have to borrow Bedazzled's reading glasses next time I pretend to be reading my magazine . I am actually trying to get some weight off my boy, so hoping he will not be in "show" condition come March. He is also eligible to enter Puppy of the Year - but I stumbled at the first hurdle when it asked to name the show he won the class in to become eligible - buggered if I know...... Glad you are entering You already have a handler lined up (who booked the night off work already ;) ) and ST and Lulu will be entered as her Minor in Group a few weeks ago has made her eligible too. I am also fairly sure that Strauss may have got a class in group at the NYE show last year? Steve Warry gave him one - or was that Tikka that got one on NYE, or Banjo... Congrats on back to back BIS show dog and your class in group Emery! I have a bit of a show brag - when I was at the Brittany National I became the second Australian to handle a dog there (after Zora's breeder) - I handled her new import who is coming out in the new year. Can't wait to see the Pro Photographer pics which should be up soon.

Dog Behaviourist In Perth Recommendations
RallyValley replied to White Shepherd mom's topic in General Dog Discussion
Why not call her and ask? I don't think anyone could possibly answer for her - she probably will be able to discuss the actual method/s she would use in your situation. ;) -
Going to be a Happy Brittany Christmas at mine too... my second order will go through just after I get home from the USA plus I am buying the dogs goodies here.
-
I am going to HAVE to do a second order soon as I NEED a copy of Ruff Love for my Recaller's course and I need some new tugs and to pre order Linda Mecklenburg's handling DVD (http://www.cleanrun.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=3042 )

Well less then a month into 2011 and I am well into one of my goals! This morning me and my mum went for a bike ride with Toby, he was trotting between the two bikes and was more concerened about looking for birds and kangaroos then the bikes ;) He isn't 100% but is much closer, yesterday when we were at the park a bike also rode past and he didn't seem bothered by it although he definately noticed it ;) Need to start on skateboard phobia next.. We also have a tracking harness on the way so are at least taking a step in that direction too. Ok so we are at; -Toby is very good with bikes still but won't be doing ET as the long distance trotting on hard ground makes him a bit sore, so we have been advised only short rides by his vet/physio. -With his obedience we are heeling now And he is much happier to train around other dogs. -Tracking won't happen in 2011, I don't have enough time -Definately still learning and having fun -May be doing agility again Toby's soundness has come forward in leaps and bounds! Well at the end of 2012 (almost) I feel that we have kind of met our goals. Toby would be ready to enter a Rally trial tomorrow, he is a little off CCD but that is mostly nerve issues and stays. He has done a CCD NFC round and only did the recall exercise, he was very up and focused in the ring and he would have passed the exercise. Tracking won't happen probably ever now, most Saturdays in tracking season I will be in the field doing stuff with Zora. Toby has been mostly sound, when I start proper agility training with Zora I am going to run through it with him too and see how he holds up. The bike phobia is probably my achievement for 2011, he now is mostly unfazed by bikes - however skateboards, scooters and shopping trolleys all scare him.

Susan Garrett Recallers
RallyValley replied to Rileys mum's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I signed up for my summer motivation. Will see how we go. -
Toby CCD RN Zora Confirmation Ch. RN Would love to compete in a field trial but don't expect her to fill a card until she is a bit older. Mostly I want to keep enjoying my dogs and get Toby over his temp issues.

Ok it's real late at night here, I had an awesome time today and loved the dog who won BISS. The dog I was handling performed well but wasn't what the judge was looking for. It was pretty nerve wracking. I don't have pics (yet) bit there was a pro photographer there so there will hopefully me some!!!

Don't want to post on WA click as the people on there are scary - but next time you all have a trial the day of the trial in the morning someone can call 131 444 and ask for a 'Request for patrols' job to be put on, just explain you have had multiple thefts/suspicious people around at trials and then they will route the patrol cars to come by during the evening. ;) Also if you see anyone suspicious call 131 444 and report it, they usually get a car out pretty quickly, especially if you see the person casing cars ect. There is a big sign outside the Police station in Canning Vale saying the same thing because there is a rise in burglaries in the area. Katie I hope you and all others reported your thefts to the Police as if they are not reported they don't know the extent of what is happening and they base their patrol routes etc on that info. It's 4am here but I am up with butterflies in my tummy as I am showing a dog in the national today! He is a very handsome and sweet boy that is coming out to Aus in Jan. There is also the cutest pup here and if I could he would be coming with me in my suitcase! It's very full on here, so many Britts and I am learning so much. I am feeling a bit sad that it ends today though.

Just checking in on the WA thread and had a heart attack for a minute there RS! Glad the girls are ok Hi everyone! In the US have been following along on DOL when I can but am mostly on FB atm. Just waiting to board my plane to Arkansas for the Brittany speciality - very excited! Sorry I don't have time to comment to everyone. The dogs are doing well in Perth - mum has been walking them and they are being spoiled. I still managed to do a Clean Run free shipping order - Toby is getting some Cuz balls for Christmas :D Will possibly do a second one, does anyone have a copy of Susan Salo's Foundation Jumping that I can borrow eventually? If not I might need to get that one... and a few other things... worst timing ever for free shipping

I know ST does not check out this thread too often but I am sure she would be a yes too. ;) Also you would have to ask Ptolomy, she was interested in RAT but does not check this thread either. -

Young Dog Who Has Broken Her Leg
RallyValley replied to Zug Zug's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
My dog broke his leg very young and had to retire from agility due to soundness issues - maybe in another 6 months we will have built enough condition to give agility a try again but the first signs of being lame he is pulled. He is only 3 and a half. IF you decide to proceed with this dog you will need lots of acupuncture/Bowen/sports vet visits to maintain a sound dog which does not come cheap!!! Plus the heart sinking feeling when you see him limping, again. My dogs soundness issues are from compensation and lack of muscle mostly. That takes a very long time to build the muscles back up. I would not recommend someone place themselves into this situation -
My breed has close to 600 dual field and show champions in the USA. Both my dog and the other Brittany I handle in the show ring work in the field - we actually need the Kennel Club to run the Utility Gundog field trials for us ;)

I am loving my new body/lens combo! Can't believe how noiseless the camera is even at high ISO! Here are some of the obligatory pics I didn't get the camera until after work (10.30) last night so they are all from either last night or first thing this morning.

This :D Well done RS!!!

Yay!!!! Way to go Bedazzled and Brookie!!!! Any other results?
-
Poor you and Bondi boxagirl. Hoping that all is well soon.

I told off a guy the other day, I had my 10kg Brittany puppy on leash and his enormously fat lab (never seen one as fat) waddled over and started humping her! I shouted out "Sir can you come get your dog?" to get "Oh he's being friendly" to which i replied "Oh well my dog is tiny and she's getting crushed!" Even after he came over and got the dog he was making excuses...

AP if Zora stops growing soon she will be a 400 dog! ( ) Or the very lowest 500 dog. However likely you will be in Masters before she is ready for her debut
