Definitely up for a meet, would love to see Zora now she's grown a bit :D Did she come into season while you were away? Great photos! looks like you saw all the highlights, and you've nailed the new camera and OMG is that the 'Friends' sofa No she never came into season, she is probably waiting for the big Western Classic dog show Yep that's the Friends sofa!!! I got to sit in Central Perk :D

You will definitely have a handler (me ), it is Friday night and at 20 months he will be in Intermediate - class 5. We may have to recruit someone for BIG line up if Zora and/or Zach get through for the Brittanys since ST is away but I am sure we will be able to palm a Brittany off to someone if you can't take Strauss in... ;)
-
ST is placing one tomorrow morning ;)

Not sure, RV. Would be good if it was a comp already! I guess I could sit and do some entries for next year already to tide me over until the season starts back up again next year! I need to get the Western Classic ones organized and the fun teams one for Cloverdale soon. Early bird entries for the Classic need to be in by Friday! Just doing some show entries now for Zora.

I have to catch up with Deb BUT Toby has been sound almost all year and has improved so much since she began working with him so we might have a chat about recommencing agility for him. I am cautiously excited. So we may be doing some agility training over the summer too Ptolomy. However my reason for posting is just get a little advice, what types of exercises would the people here do to proof stays? Would you practice situations where loose dogs come up? I won't be in obedience at the Western Classic mostly because I am showing that night and want to be careful of taking too much on. However saying that Ptolomy if you want to take more on the Friday night conformation judge has judged Toller Speciality's in Canada and I would be able to handle if needed. ;)

Yes Feb seems so far away!!! Does anyone know if the Rally O Introduction mentioned in the Northern Suburbs Obedience ad in the K9 Mag is like a demo or actual competition classes?
-
I am lucky this year and get Christmas off! Also NYE I am working Christmas Eve until midnight and every day between boxing day until NYE.
-
Ah ok... I didn't know they would come up like that, sorry guys!! Here are the rest Washington DC and NYC

First of all congratulations for the obedience achievements of RS, Ptolomy, Bedazzled and MG!! Nice to hear the agility results and glad to hear your near misses anne, RS and amypie :D Well she will keep getting dogs at the beginning of the alphabet!! I don't mind being first so much - like Mirawee said the judge is happy to explain exactly how they want things because they don't expect you to know being first. The worst is having a hairy dog that is first up so I need to be up extra early. CC - Would love to have a social meet over the summer with Toby, Z and the cresties again. Hmm photos here are some Flickr sets if people are interested; Los Angeles Las Vegas http://www.flickr.com/photos/46087317@N04/sets/72157628137098097/

Yep ncarter that was in the US. Home now!!!! Dogs (and I) were so excited to see each other. Zora grew while I was away I am not really sure if she got taller but she definitely is becoming more mature and less puppy like. No training tonight right?

Troy in regards to the Field Ch. or the Retrieving Ch. being worth only half the points of a Tracking Ch. that is just insanity! To get a retrieving champ or a field champ dogs must win multiple times in trial to progress from upper levels to lower levels and then win again at the top level multiple times to complete the championship, this is intense and competitive and very few dogs actually reach the level of Field Ch. or Retrieving Ch..... Either make them all the same please or follow up on just how hard it is to get one of these titles, no idea why it is worth half a Tracking Ch.!!!

Kelpies are very versatile and can also be trained to retrieve ducks ( ;) ) In all honesty my boy is of unknown origins but from the bush, he definitely has Kelpie in there and likely WKC Kelpie - he is a such a sweet boy and if I asked him to come for a 8km bike ride he would be there and if I was sick in bed for a week he would be on my feet all week. He used to live with sheep and was definitely very interested in them but I have no idea about sheep herding so do not if he was doing good things or bad things. He is smart and trainable - I would definitely recommend both WKC or ANKC kelpies, I find that the only difference for me would be a cosmetic one, I think someone with the right breeder/lines could find the right Kelpie for them from either registry. Also benshiva Toby is heartbroken you think he is a 'mere' Kelpie :p I have owned one of each and have to say from my experience the poster that earlier described the differences was spot on!

Retrieving & Field Training Talk

And Lulu I don't think the puppy girls are far off being able to do it. I think that is great news and I am very excited about the prospect of having RAT in WA :D -
Yeah I know, I'm just jealous No no I'm just going to have to buy more stuff I'm afraid I keep adding in the stick in the ground weave poles, then taking them out, then adding them back in, then taking them out.... Anyone here had them arrive yet and how are they?
-
My second yet to be placed is at $150... I can add some of that to your order AP ;) And not showing off - just want to have some stuff when I get home, I don't think my first parcel has arrived yet.
-
My indecision is what should I order from Clean Run and what should I buy from the Pet Co down the road from my hotel and bring home.
-
Yep. No emergencies please people :D Anyway off to bed - it's 10.23pm here and I better get going, have to finish all my Christmas Shopping tomorrow!!
-
Sunday afternoon, although I leave New York Friday morning... I hate flying long distance and I have a 5 hour flight to LA then a 12 hr flight to Auckland then a massive layover then a 6 hr flight to Perth. Then I have work Monday through Saturday.
-
I get a daily tally - she has now destroyed 7 Christmas balls Mum is glad I will be home to entertain her soon, she is badly in need of mental stimulation but has been enjoying going for walks with Toby and my cousin and her baby around the neighbourhood when weather permits. ;)
-
Maybe if she learns not to destroy the Christmas Tree she can have a spot. My mum is loving looking after a frustrated puppy.
-
I don't even think Zora is in mine Bad owner!! (Going to check now!)
-
Zora would have kicked butt ;) Starting to get very near the end of my trip and can't wait to see my dogs again.

Still haven't started I am not home from the US until December 10th - but I am keeping up with all the reading and will be ready to go the day I get home. -
I'm telling Kyzer! Tenties would have been 4th I do like them, I just like the other three better, my OH chose him not me :p ETA my lists also rotate often according to dogs I have met and like (or don't like) Is that why a Brittany is your number 1 Gundog ;) - Zora loves you too. Group 1- Tibetan Spaniel, Papillon Group 2- Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Manchester Terrier Group 3- Brittany, Large Munsterlander, English Setter (Very easy to keep adding more breeds after 3!!!) Group 4- Petit Basset Griffon Venden, Basset Fauve De Bretagne Group 5- Old English Sheepdog, Australian Kelpie, Australian Shepherd Group 6- Bernese Mountain Dog, Portugese Water Dog, Newfoundland Group 7- Standard Poodle

It makes me sad if you are a "professional" dog walker. If your 'friendly' dog ran up to the wrong dog it could end up attacked - I have witnessed this happen and have had a near miss with one of my own dogs and she (RIP) was an old bitch that would have happily put puncture marks in approaching dogs. Having your dog off leash in on leash areas is illegal and being in an off leash area is not a free for all, there is such a thing as manners. If I thought an approaching dog has threatening body language I would lift my dog (one is around 14kg and the other 20ishkgs so no little dogs), let you know very clearly to get your dog away and if necessary use my foot to defend us. If I get bit in the process I WILL go to the ranger and get the dog declared dangerous. I would much rather I was bitten by a dog then one of my dogs was, especially when one already has social issues. If your dog is jumping up on strangers who are obviously frightened you are definitely in the wrong and unbelievably rude. I only see one ignorant owner in your post and that is you.
