The Weimeraner Club of WA has been doing rescue - they are great and their rescue lady will have a chat with your son about it all.
-
That sucks everyone! I am so mad for you all!!!! I am sending off Zoras first non show entry soon! I'm entering her in the RAT even though I don't think she will pass, just want to support the RAT and the club. Eta - I think that's pretty lousy especially about the Classic. It would have been a nice surprise on the post and a nice momento!

Zora is a popular Slovenian name meaning Dawn. I wanted the name as I wanted to capture the attitude of my Slovenian great grandma and pay tribute to her.
-
How scary for you Ptolomy!!! Fingers crossed everything is ok!

My girl Zora got 2x Puppy in Group this past weekend! I am very happy with how she is going, she is maturing and behaving very well in the ring now. Here is a recent photo of her:
-
Well done Bedazzled! I looked over and saw you in the ring for quite a while and thought you must be doing well.

What was the prognosis?
-
I also had this, I have been seeing the same Vet as Ptolomy with Toby and he has been sound for the last 11 months (aside from recently where he ripped his feet up from allergies, but that was not a proper unsound, he just had awful sores on his pads). The vet has given me the all clear to start him again in agility, she recommends I do the same jumping program with Toby and Zora, so starting with Susan Salo's puppy jumping and working up from there. We will keep monitoring his soundness and if there is any relapse he will stop jumping. There are other things you can train with a dog to keep their mind active, Toby has been enjoying working in Rally O and will be able to trial in that coming up.

Off topic but yay!!! Poodle fan is back! Took me long enough to realize. I think people will always whine no matter who is put up. I don't know anything about Pekes but I sure he confirms very well to standrard, it was very brave of the judge to pick the Peke for "America's Dog" when she could have taken an easy out and chosen a more popular breed. -
My pup broke a tooth, I too ummmed and ached about getting it out, spoke to a couple of vets who gave me the all clear to leave it in, then it went black and the gum became inflamed, went and got it out.... Now the adult tooth has an odd stain on part of the lower part of the tooth no vet has ever seen before. If I could have my time over again that tooth would have gone right away!!

Mine is just coming out of season, thank god! I think she read the textbook though because her season has followed it perfectly. :) Anyone else going to Albany this weekend?

Double Merle Rough Collies & Wesminster

Sorry not trying to hijack but I've not heard about choc labs before. We have a couple in the extended family with behavioural issues. Can you give me more info on chocolate issues please (PM is fine if you prefer)? Some say its true and others say it is a myth. I think it will depend on who you talk to regarding the chocs. "Unless judges have pedigrees in front of them, they're not going to know the ancestry of the dogs they're judging" Perhaps its time they did. Yes so they can award dogs based on who their sire is and if they have Gr Ch. in front of their name... It's up to exhibitors to be ethical in their programs, it's not up to show judges to police this. Plus a name is a name, if they were not a Collie person they would probably just see the sire and read some words, not go oooh that dog is deaf and blind... -

I don't get this bit? The AKC invites the 5 top ranked dogs. 2 blue merle dogs happened to be in the top 5 - this is because show judges gave them wins, not because the AKC chooses the top 5 dogs based on colour or the like.... -
Yeah it's his allergies. He has been so good for ages and now the itch! He did have a minor diet change so that is probably what has brought the itching about.
-
Good luck to all the DOLers with sick dogs! Fingers crossed for Millie tomorrow RS. Toby started limping Monday for the first time in a long time However he has chewed a big sore between his toes on one of his feet and I have been treating that and the limp is getting better, so it looks like it was just to stop him stepping on the sore foot not an actual soundness problem!
-
For the DOL profile which is an advertisement essentially I don't see the harm in adding BIS/RUIS or BISS for Ch shows... For official forms/paperwork it's only ANKC titles.
-
Wow I'm sorry and will remember not to celebrate if my dog gets a RUBIS - it did get beaten after all. What happened to just letting people enjoy their wins?! It's called good sportsmanship.

How do your dogs clean themselves when they are asleep?
-
Ok my bitch Zora is being a little cow and ripping the pads out of her bitch pants.. They are the plain black kind that come on the cardboard boxes. Are there any pants out that are a bit stronger for little bitches?
-
I think unless the dog is in pain the second you stop the dog wins, Toby used to be a little terror, mouthing my hand and going for the clippers. I persisted, even if I just did one nail and then gave him a treat. Always end the hold on your terms and do short sessions, often. Toby is now an angel to do and sits there calmly looking bored. ;)
-
Yay Ptolomy So excited for you.. if you want Chicka to get her Aus Ch. title you know where to find a handler ;) Can't wait to meet her :)
-
I would love to RS but right now is not a good time for me (car rego, car insurance, going to Albany, and 3 big birthdays in the next 3 weeks). I would be able to towards the end of March?
-
MG I will be entering to show support but I doubt Zora will be ready. Does anyone know a canine ophthalmologist and a canine cardiologist that is able to do breeders certificates in WA?
-
I was entered as I was also going to catch up with family but Zora might still be in season then so, we'll see ;) miss chandra has come into season 2 months early she is day 8 (well i hope she is day 8 and i didn't miss her) today, bet she brings her daughter in though lol, :) but at least i figure now they will no longer be in for the classic like they were meant to be :D Zora is only around day 4. She's only a baby though so we will see how this season goes. :)
