MishB the sweepstakes is just before the Gundog group unfortunately being first in the Gundog ring you will have to rush over for breed class and sweepstakes can be long if there are lots of pups in. I think if you are feeling a bit nervous leave the sweepstake class this time and then you and Obi won't be tired out for breed class :)

Love the pics FHRP!!! I can't wait to get back out in the field but my work is being mean and making me work lots of weekends There is a huge field next to our house that has a bit of cover and rabbits living there, I love taking Zora over to hunt, she gets very animated... It's really her most fav thing in the world. Here is a pic of her on point, watching where the rabbit went off to -

Have fun guys! I am working Fri/Sat/Sun and showing Monday but I will be crossing my fingers for sunny weather for you all! -
One thing not many people are thinking of - most flashy to flashy matings are probably unavoidable when trying to find the best match structurally who has had all the relevant health tests done. I doubt there would be many solid coloured stud dogs out there which would narrow the gene pool a lot if people avoided all flashy to flashy.

There is no mention of any equipment allowed/not allowed in the Utility Gundog Field Trial rules. At a trial the dogs aren't running as long as they are at a training day so I don't think it would be needed then anyway. -
I just emailed the ACES coordinator and they confirmed that Rivergum is the only vet that can do the official ACES test. $75 seems like an ok cost for one dog but your right, if I had 5 it would quickly balloon!!

Hmm so Zora went on an Easter Egg Hunt today! When I was at work and my mum was out the little cow went into my mum's wardrobe, climbed on a trunk and pulled down two Hello Kitty Easter eggs... We think once Zora has made the find Toby "helped" as one box was opened downstairs and one upstairs, both had all the wrappers ripped off and boxes torn apart. Thankfully it was white chocolate and the dogs seem to be fine but it does not surprise me at all for Zora to so this....

The ACES eye test is only $75 which does not seem so bad. I guess it will be done when I am over east, unless they run a Clinic here. :)

A cardiologist heart check is around $80 vs several hundered (Im guessing?!) for the ultrasound... I might just get it done when I am in Vic at the end of the year...
-
Ok I need help DOLers - are there any cardiologists in WA? There used to be Dr Dandrueux but she moved back to Europe. I need Zora heart screened (I.e have a cardiologist listen to her heart and "grade" her on the heart murmur scale) and its looking like I will have to fly east to do that!!! I've contacted Murdoch and they said there was no Cardiologists in the state.. I have managed to find a vet that tests eyes under the Aces scheme and of course she is getting her elbows and hips done but this test is driving me insane!!

I already did my order RS! I better not spend any more on the dogs as I have a very expensive month coming up with hip and elbow X-rays, eye tests and heart testing for Zora. -

I have a tip for everyone, I stumbled on these today; http://www.sierratradingpost.com/hyper-products-hyper-launcher-kit-with-extra-dummies~p~4219g/?filterString=pet-gear~d~5166%2F&colorFamily=99 I don't know how good they are but if you order two they are $30 each including postage and come with 3 dummies and a basic launcher. -
Yes I would never describe a Brittany as a couch potato!!! My girl Zora will chill on the couch but if she does not get our for a walk and/or training she becomes a bit antsy and can vent that into destroying things. Plus she has free run of 3 acres and another dog to play with...

Yeah RS and Fetchingdawgs should be proud - they did an awesome job! It was more challenging then I expected. I also was so proud of my friends Weim, it was his first competition other then a dog show and he just loved every minute of it (too much as he broke in the second reteieve). But both times he went straight out and straight back. :) Can't wait to have a go with Zora next year! -
Yay Jive! How adorable! Also Way to go Cider and Strauss!!!! Can't wait to see how their babies turn out. Also very exciting news that Chica is home

It's the brand I feed but I am trying to get rid of my puppy stuff as it is! Zora has finished growing now so I have to mix half puppy/half adult or she looks like a little tub of lard!

So the verdict on arthritis ??? They only way you know 100% is by x-raying and to be honest it seems a waste of money to tell is something that is inevitably going to happen to Toby because of his past injury. He likely has arthritis in some form, even if it is just the slow process joint degeneration from his old injury. We are treating him with cartrophen treatments now, monitoring activity levels and continuing with Deb's treatments/joint powders etc. I don't think it was arthritis pain the other day though since he bounced back so quickly.
-
Happy Birthday Rosie!!! Since she's all grown up now she will surely behave perfectly ;) Glad to hear Gibbs is doing well MG. CC Toby is going better, he was back to himself after a few days of anti inflammatories and is on slightly limited exercise but no more signs of lameness.

I have yet to comment but I can't help it. It seems the vets were given pretty clear instructions and acted with good intentions. If you look at it like it is with the Bulldog - they saw a scar, they couldn't say for sure what the scar was from at preliminary examination, their guidelines states scarring on the eye is a fail so they had to fail the dog. Yes the dog has clear eye certificates from specialists who WOULD have has the time, resources and expertise plus specialist equipment to examine the eye. This does not invalidate the certificate it just says the examining vet could not say with 100% certainty the dog was a healthy specimen due to a scar on the eye which they did not have the resources, possibly expertise or specialist equipment to examine.

Wow this is a georgeous Brittany Yes he is just stunning! A very exciting import for Tobenlee. His sire recently won an AOM at Westminster too.
