  1. Ok, before I get jumped on I have talked to a vet about this. I was just seeing if there are any other possible views. Twice in the last fortnight after Toby has had chicken mince and VAN mix he has started to shake about 20-30 mins after eating and one time threw up. After the first instance I took him to the vet who could not hear anything strange in his gut, no enlarged lymph nodes etc. The second one happened last night, he didn't throw up but was shaking for about half an hour. These were different batches of meat, my other dog ate the same meat with no adverse reaction. The first time Zora and I were away from home for the evening - the morning Toby had eaten the meat with no issues so we though it might be a stress type thing. He has been on VAN and meat for a few months and gets a mixture of high quality meats picked up from a local source. At the same time I get the meat for myself I get it for 2 friends and my brother and none of their dogs have reacted this either. The second instance there was no out of the ordinary activities. Lately Toby has been quite picky with food and has stopped having breakfast (usually kibble), as in, he no longer comes out at breakfast time or if he does he does not eat. This is the same kibble he has been on for a year. He has recently lost some weight and at one point we became concerned as it seemed he suddenly lost a lot of weight and we were struggling to keep condition on him, however we upped his food some and he has gained the condition back and is not loosing TOO much now he is hardly eating. Toby is also a special mental case and has recently been acting like he was scared of his dinner bowl (so we fed him on a paper plate) and then we fed him outside from his bowl (because he was only scared of it in the garage) and gradually worked it back inside so now he seems to be fine with it again. Since it had only happened the once the vet thought it may have been a mental thing... Here is Toby at his thinnest in June: And a recent pic:
  2. I think Indy from WA might be the first Britt to be titles in agility, ET, retrieving, show AND field titles? http://www.gspclubwa.net/viewphoto.asp?page=1275&photo=12 I emailed his owner and asked them to send you his details. :) Also informed all the field Brittany people in WA.
  3. Helen have you been sent the details for the first Dual Champion?
  4. Wow do that many well bred Dobes end up in rescue?!?!? For most breeds of dog there is a high demand for quality healthy dogs and you tend to find not many end up in rescue or contributing to BYB problems. No RV they don't - the majority of Dobe breeders take great care of where they place their dogs and the majority take rehome dogs back or assist in rehoming if thats not possible. And there is generally a very high demand for puppies - our next litter is majority sold and not advertised, plus we have people waiting for a litter planned in 18 mths - once people have a dobe they are dobe people for life and they are the majority of our puppy buyers presently. I thought that might be the case Bisart! I have never really heard of Dobes coming up in rescue in WA. After reading the rest of the OP's comments it's more understandable why they would make an incorrect statement. I don't have any issue with judging requirements. You CAN become a judge without breeding, you just need to prove your merit in other ways. Personally I would LOVE to see it as an additional requirement that gundog judges steward at a certain number of field and/or retrieving trials to get their show judge licence.
  5. You will be able to make fun weekends of it though There are usually clusters of trials in Perth, so if you choose the right weekend (e.g The Western Classic Weekend at the start of March) you will be able to compete in DWD, Agility, Jumping, Obedience and showing :)
  6. No trials or showd in Kal, you will need to travel to Perth to trial.

  8. If you are after schedules for the Sunbury Weekend most of the shows were in the August gazette; http://www.dogsvictoria.org.au/Portals/0/assets/gazette/GazetteAugust12_schedulesV2.pdf If not I hope you get your answer. :)
  9. Thanks! Tlc Brittany's have must very puppylike faces :) Quite a few people think she is a puppy, I think it is also because she is smaller then they expect a Brittany to be after seeing them in books.
  10. She's my 15 month old Brittany Zora and I shot this today... so she's not exactly new but I have't been on DOL heaps recently so you might not have realised I got her :)
  11. Ok shot in AV mode, the time in my camera is wrong, but it was like 5pm when I shot this, so I put the camera to f3.5 to get as much light as I could in case she moved quickly (which she does  ) Straight from camera and shot in RAW. The stats are Av Mode, f3.5,s speed 1/60, 50mm and ISO 200.
  12. I love my nifty fifty!! (1.8) After over 6 months of exclusively shooting on one I got use of a telephoto today. But I'm sure I will continue to use the fifty lots and lots This is a recent pic I like and this one
  13. Thanks Ptolomy, I loved your pic of Nina and Strauss too! My mum was shown that picture and wants Nina, she sure has lots of fans!!! Good luck in Melbourne for the boys and you and Deb I hope you do WA proud yet again!!! :D Here is the Zora pic for those not on FB (I can't resist sharing my girl!)
  14. Maybe for two active labs but others could probably comfortable fit three SWF's or multiple lazy Grey's in a small yard :p Anyway hi everyone! :) Been a bit absent from DOL, no real news here.

  16. If I had my reactive dog in this situation I would have kept walking better to get past the reacting dog as quickly as possible, especially if there were two adults, I would give one my friendly dog ask them to block or grab the little dog should it leave it's property.
  17. Thanks for the feedback guys, I ended up cutting my losses with the wheelbarrow. In a theme of red it's not really going to stand out, given how faded the wheelbarrow is. I got inspiration from some cherries and took this instead (and no I can't re-shoot this one, the cherries were too yummy! )
  18. Here is a pretty good online guide to Brittany grooming with a list of equipment at the top http://www.brittanygrooming.com/. I have a stone but only use it for Zora's head/legs. I would be very careful with using the stone on orange areas as you might make the coat look cut. Obi does not really need much done, I would just invest in some thinning scissors and some straight scissors for now and then experiment with other techniques as he grows more hair.
  19. Argh sorry I took the first two off Flickr! I don't think I could get the wheelbarrow that red with Toby in the picture sadly without him looking too strange. I have until mid July so I will find another object that is really red and can try some more shots with the wheelbarrow if I get desperate.
  20. Yeah I use Apeture, I have never really used any of the other ones so I don't know how it compares but it seems to work ok and is very easy to upload to Flickr/FB etc. I find it very easy to organise my images too :) I had another go with the wheelbarrow, but don't think this will be the one that makes the competition. Might look for other red things (the theme is red) I did a lot of fiddling around with PP to sort of brighten and make the dog/wheelbarrow more red, fade back the background. I took the shot lying on the ground too. I didn't use any bulk settings, just the individual sliders. I hope it's at least more interesting then the first one!
  21. Seeing an example of how you do it would be great I really have no idea what to do and just end up pressing 'Auto Enchance' and if I don't like that then 'Undo' lol.
  22. I am definitely able to re-shoot, it's a few weeks until it is due. I was't going to use this for sure and I'm going to be compiling a few to choose from :) I only have one lens, a nifty fifty so I will try and experiment a bit more with dramatic angles/doing more with the barrow. Might get Toby into the action  As far as editing I played around with making the red stand out more and then changed the white balance to cloudy (which it was) then used Apeture's "Auto Enhance"... Which seemed to make the picture a bit brighter and put that hilight on top of the wheel barrow. Just so you guys also don't think I'm overestimating myself I am preparing for the Novice category of camera club, the club is a good one and gives feedback on all entries, so I am really doing this for feedback/to practice more with my camera, not because I think I am a potential winner or anything!
  23. I don't want to crash your thread TLC but I have a very similar issue with not being able to decide on a photo due to the fact I suck at post processing. Does anyone have any recommended resources. Here is my best attempt (It's for camera club with a theme of red): Original Raw Best Edit
  24. Another recommendation for the Paw House, even my kooky by Toby had no issues there
