Sounds like a deal. The sad thing is Toby does usually think being inside the car with the door shut is more exciting then training on cold nights! ;)

Tiggy Read about aim for it and race to reward in agility right from the start. -
I was at K9 yesterday Practicing heeling with a couple of red kids :D A couple of lovely red kids and playing with one of the worlds cutest puppies! Oh and I did a little agility too :D I will have to post the clip of Toby at home Ptolomy so you can see the drastic difference between the attitudes.

No I slept in. I was at K9 yesterday and I am going again tomorow so I was feeling too lazy to do 3 days in a row. Don't blame you. How's Toby doing? Ok. I filmed a training session at home earlier and watching back couldn't believe how happy and confident he looked compared to the dog I see at agility trials and training. :D

Well done Xena98! Amypie has a little brag but no news from Toby at Saturdays agility trial.

Were they truly a running contact or were they super quick releases for a 2o2o? For a nationals you may find they were giving a release before the dog had assumed its contact position - at last that is what a US trainer told me they do at big comps a few years back. She said after a Nationals or large regional qualifying event she will then spend a few weeks reproofing the contacts and getting the dog to assume and hold position. The conversation came up as I was at the time trying to convnice trainers at my club to start training a contact behaviour and asked her id she had some videos to show of her dogs using it in comps, but the only videos she had brought with her were nationals videos where she released the dog before it stopped so did not show a solid contact behaviour. It has been a few years since I have done agility so someone like Vickie will probably be able to clarify/explain that better than me. I was going to make the same comment - the dogs may be running through their contacts, but his is because thye have been allowed to do it, not because they have been trained to always run. I know Linda Orton-Hill and Susan Garrett don't have running contacts, but they will release before their dogs stop if they are looking for super fast times. It probably is that. Its just cause the commentator kept saying "This dog has a nice running contact" for almost all the dogs that got the contacts. Agility newbs can get confused. -

I tried it out in water today, Toby wouldn't touch it once it was wet But Lilly had a go! -

I watched the AKC 2010 Nationals last night and only 1 or 2 dogs did 2o2o almost every dog (inclusing the 24" and 26" dogs) had running contacts and the most amazing thing was that only a few dogs missed the contacts. -
A Nice Suprise For Quarantine Dogs

What IS that? WHat does a get wet duck do? It floats It's for playing fetch in the water and if you are Toby holding the beak which has a squeaker and zooming around the house! -
I ordered some stuff from Clean Run (For those not in the know it's a US based dog agility supplies store) and when I came home from work the parcel was here. It had a book, a dvd and one of these: When I was about to put the box in the bin a bit of paper fell out saying "Your box has been inspected by quarantine". Can you imagine the faces on those Labs or Beagles when the squeaky duck was pulled out! It's no wonder Toby was obssesed with sniffing the box.

Yes Chessies and Curly Coats are the exception to most gundog rules. However Lincoln arrived in Melbourne Wednesday and settled in with his breeders pack of 7 dogs that are 3 other Chessie, 2 hounds and a terrie, so socialzation plays a hand too. However Chessies (and maybe Curly Coats) were poachers dog and will guard belongings and although over the last 20 years the tempraments have become softer they still have a protective and anti social streak that runs through the breed that wa. However Lincolns granddam, grandsire and great granddam are all Delta dogs in the states so they can have polar opposite tempraments too.

We didn't do too badly from the losers bin at nationals. Bringing your cabana Sat? Yep I always do but I was thinking of not putting it up because as stupid as it sounds my mum pointed out that I'm all serious when I put it up and that might be contributing to Kyzer's failure Maybe having Toby there is his lucky charm. It is supposed to be rainy.
