  1. Toby perfomed really well today. He had a jump, chute, pinwheel, tunnel, spread and then a serpentine which was close to the edge of the ring so he couldn't resist going to say hi to Cap If he hadn't gone to play I am fairly certain he would have run clear as after the first 14 ostables 15 onwards was in a nice sweeping arc and involved a tunnel. He still wasn't running with as much enthusiasm as he does at home but he was getting there. Tassie- hand targeting and shaking paw are my warm ups. Hopefully by the time Toby is 3 (next June ) I will have something to put in the brags thread. ;)
  2. Tassie, you hit the nail on the head!! Here's a quote from Nancy Gyes from the TeamSmallDog Blog... Dump the attitude, get rid of corrections, make your teammate your best friend with lots of play. If your dog will play with you in some way, engage and look you in the eye with a smile on her face then you are half way there. Play does not need to be tugging with a toy, that's an easy way to play but there are lots of others as well. You should be able to get down on the ground and roll around with your dog and just have fun making physical contact with each other. End quote. I don't doubt that you guys play a lot, I just noticed a disconnection when you threw your toy...your turning of your back ends the play connection. You could throw your toy and then run in and play with lots of physical contact. More play Thanks Caffy. It's great to get some feedback. :D
  3. Thanks for the advice, lots in there for me to think about. He does tug a little but tends to shut down in public and will only play with the iSqueak or food. However I have just rediscovered my Control Unleashed book so hopefully using some of those exercises I can get him tugging.
  4. This one is really for amypie and ptolomy but I thought I would put it up for anyone who wants to have some constructive critisicm. It's because last weekend at the agility trial Toby was all edgy and not willing to jump and I was like "he's not like this at home" so the next day I decided I needed a little proof that he's really not like that at home so I made this little video of us training. Here is the link to the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5NNpIcy3F9w I have a trial tomorrow and if he could have the raring to go attitude that he has in this video in the ring that would be better then any quallie or first place for me. But I am not holding out to much hope because I think his attitude is 99% coming from my nerves which aren't going to be any better especially with my family coming to watch!
  5. Nutro Large Breed might be a good one for you to look into. It has high levels of Essential Fatty Acids, as well as VitE and Zinc. It's 100% natural, australian made, and a little cheaper than both EP and RC. I second this! I had my Chessie pup on EP for a good 2 months, 1 month gradual changeover and 1 months straight EP, I don't think he did one solid poo that whole time and his coat was a bit matt. Switched to Nutro and the gloss came back, the wight came on and I only had to feed half of what I did for EP to keep the weight on, oh and the poos were pretty good.
  6. Like what? I am seriously stumped about what I can do with her. You could always put the target (i.e a piece of paper) on your hand and get her to target that. Then wean the paper away from you hand until she is targeting the paper on the floor or another surface, then make the paper smaller and smaller until she isn't really targeting the paper anyomore, this might get her using her nose to target too. She nose targets fine. That isn't the problem. I'm trying to get her to use her feet. I must have read that the wrong way sorry!
  7. I'm thinking at the end of the challange we can do a rainbow. I am back and hopefully I will have something to contribute this time.
  8. Chessies do very well in dock diving. I'm sorry I missed this. Badazzled glad the dogs are ok.

  10. I am looking at that thinking... I will probabaly end up getting it because I can never help myself with Clean Run free shipping.
  11. Thanks for that! :p I did meet you at nationals but I didn't realise who you were until way after. A normal leash should be ok but I might have to invest in some of those dorky elbow, wrist and knee pads that I my nonna got me to rollerblade in.
  12. I am sure it wouldn't be too hard to find someone who needs an ET handler if you are taking both the girls (people will be fighting over me ) and I do need to get fit so it's not a big deal.
  13. In all seriousness I will try and get fit enough to do it next year but I need a training plan for me, so if anyone has one please share the link
  14. You might have to change them to Chessies then.. but then birds are bound to cause that reaction. Can you use one of those special bungee leashes for the ET?
  15. Who is going to teach him the BIS winning show stand and adorable face for the judges then? (well the adorable face bit comes naturally ;) )
  16. I will do a leg for Ari if you will do one for Lincoln in two years. :D If you're pimping your services, you wanna run one of my ratbags for the entire thing? But what do I get in return for that I will definetly consider it but only if you train your girls not to get so excited they will pull me off the bike if they see a person/dog/bird/anything I know my lesson the hard way from going rollerblading with my friends lab. :D

  18. Me???? Um when is it - we are entered in a show this weekend but her ladyship is in season, my hydrobath motor isn't working, the boxes from the move keep multiplying every time I turn my back and I haven't chatted to my stand in handler to see if she was planning on going or not. Hmm it doesn't sound too hopeful does it Happy to handle her if you still want to go ahead with showing her. I want to do ET too, just wondering if someone who is registered as a handler only would be able to run a dog? I also have to wait till Lincoln turns two since Toby is scared of bikes and I seriously doubt I could run that far! I didn't think Ptolomy is entered in the GDC ST, maybe your confusing the royal?
  19. Last night after doing some agility stuff with Toby out the back I came in to find shredded newspaper all over the floor. Since Lincoln is im Melbourne at the moment it was very easy to lay the blame... with my 14yo!
  20. Was that going in fast forward?!?!?! Nope he was just that fast
  21. When he is still he actually looks slot like Toby Are you in love Amy?
  22. You will have to google that but a Rat Terrier won at AKC nationals this year and it was soooooooooooooooo fast you couldn't even see it run!
  23. No more terriers for a long time. No more of any dog for that matter Yeah I keep forgetting what a long agility carrer terriers have! Not like my big boofs I miss Lincoln so much Lucky his breeder emails me almost every day
  24. Shes closer to maternity leave then retirement. HELL NO! I knew that would get your goat. Next birthday your going to import a Rat Terrier aren't you . Next time I see you (which should be the B&A Trial) I will give you the disk so you can get all clucky (getting the hint that I want you to get a Rat Terrier and beat Border Collies with it). Clean Run put up a new DVD in free shipping especially for your birthday! Edited because my grammar sucks!
