Keeping Dogs Out Of The Ring To Help Others
RallyValley replied to SkySoaringMagpie's topic in General Dog Discussion
That has got to be one of the most crazy things I have ever heard! If you got togther all the Chessies in Aus currently showing it still wouldn't be a 25point BOB and when you have a breed some judges don't even recognise getting a BIG seems like a far fetched fantasy. If they brought in this rule I would stop showing. We have Grand Ch to award high achieveing dogs. How can you say that - your dogs sire is an Int CH & a multi BIG winner & RUBIS winner ? Regardless - this is my opinion and it won't change. Also to date all the dogs I have titled have achieved this - and in Victoria where we don't get light competition. Because I am probably underestimating judges I would love if judges would come out and know the standard and the breed and stop doing things like picking up the feet to check for webbing or using the measure of ears to the corners of eyes (I don't know where the feet thing comes from, you can see a Chessie has webbed feet standing over him and the ears is a lab thing). But then I have been spoilt recently showing under only international judges who for the most part seem to know the breed. I think if I show long enough and when my boy is at his peak condition under a judge who knows the standard I could maybe pick up a BIG BUT it seems like a lot of "if's" just to get the title Ch.. Especially since showing for me takes a back seat to agility and evetually Obedience However I do agree that the new Gr Ch rules are well deserved and think it makes the title Gr. Ch an even greater honour. -

Sounds like when Jack had snail pellet posioning. Labs are so stoic, he is probably in terrible pain a half hour is a long time to be in pain I would have him at the vets ASAP. -
Can't wait. Me and Strauss are going to have some play dates involving teeth coming up!

I said no to both however if someone came along with a Chessie I would let them know which shows I will be going to so they can make thier own conclusions about the other shows. I would hope they would still come to the other shows though because I would love to be able to have another dog in the ring with me. -
I got a cd yesterday at the show with mine. Apparently there werent enough pics for a CD with Lincoln, so the guy said he would email them.

Flat Coats are normally bigger then Goldens. -
Well done on your efforts today Ptolomy, Bedazzled and RS! I am a bit bummed I missed Cider Bears round but I was lapping up the comedy gold coming from the general public with thier beyond ignorant at times questions about OES.
-
I got a question that stumped me today about Charlie... and my response was much laughed at. Man: Why is his eye blue? Me: Because it's blue!? Man: Oh.. I thought he was blind. Me: ST and her mum: OES are fun for stupid questions! However I did have fun today and Charlie was really lapping it up! Plus for every 5 idiots there seemed to be one person asking before they pat him or genuinely intersted. ;) WZ I think you would have no issue with fitting between a table and the railing.

RIP Jake So sorry for you and your family Casowner

He is huge now!! How are 2 boys together? Have they ever fought etc? If i get another dog I would love another male but I have only ever had 2 bitches together and they did fight a few times... Hi Mas they have never had a serious fight but like almost any species where you have a pair living togther they get cranky at each other from time to time. They do playfight heaps though We have two dogs because Lilly was such a cow and hated bitches so if we had brough a little bitch into the house it would have been on! However before I got Lincoln I had Lilly and Jack (boy girl) then Lilly and Toby (boy girl) then Lilly and Lincoln and Toby (girl and two boys) now I have the two boys. I prefer to have a dog and a bitch because in my expirience the boys will bow down to a bitch and let her rule the roost without a second thought whereas bringing another dog into the mix could just be asking for trouble while they sort out a heirachy. However Lilly is the only bitch I have ever owned and she was very much an alpha bitch. However if you are looking at getting another lab I doubt you will have an issue whichever way you go.

I know Jersey is the same zone as the UK bringing them back, but I don't actually know anything useful. Just wanted to poke my nose in and say hi! ETA Definately not fair! As if you need another 6 months without Charlie!

Not in any way defending this person showdog I think we have a similar opinion on this person. And I advise the OP to visit a recommended Flat Coated breeder then the one in question, that is the best advice I can offer.
