Do you still have the list of shippers in Sweden, we have a pup to come in later in the year, the only pet shipper I can find is Scandi pet I would like to compare a few more, Scandi pet is based in Stockholm and the puppy is quite some distence from there, so would like to try and find one a little closer to the pup. Hi Wyn Jetpets assisted me with my import from Sweden & their agent was Scandipets. You will find that the pup will probably have to depart from Arlanda airport in Stockholm...my breeder delivered the pup to Arlanda airport as they wanted to ensure she arrived safely & they could hand her over. The trip took them well over 2 hours but they were more comfortable with this arrangement. Sorry I can't help you further.

Hi Angelsun...I have already imported from Sweden & it was VERY easy seeing it is a category 2 country. Category 4 countries are more difficult due to the need for Rabies vaccination and the subsequent titre tests....timing & using the right govenment vets are a must. This is the reason why I will probably want to involve an agent. I don't want anything to get messed up due to ignorance in another country. It is more expensive BUT I think it is worth it for peace of mind!! Cheers

Hi Just wondering if anyone has recently imported from either the US or Belgium. Did you use an agent from that country directly or did you involve an Australian based agent like Jetpets to organise everything? I would love any leads for reputable agents. I have used Jetpets in the past & they were brilliant BUT rather expensive. Seeing this is not the first time I have imported I could be comfortable to do some of the paperwork in Australia ie Importation permit & booking quarantine...therefore alleviating a middle man & a portion of the expense. Thanks for any input

My Swedish girl is the dribbliest of the lot...but I think it's because she has the most lip. She doesn't need food to dribble BUT I never give her a treat in the ring as the poor judge would get slimmed!!

Yep...we call them slingers in our home....I have 3 bloodhounds!! We have found a well flung slinger on the roof...gotta love Bloodhounds!!!

Hi I would love to know if anyone has imported from Spain...if so, what agent did you use? I would love to know anything related to the import...good & bad!! Thanks
-
I'm the same...I have my entry forms saved. I have one hound that I show and another that I trial in tracking. Both forms are saved on my PC. Then of course there is Ozentries for many shows...so for the extra few dollars I prefer to use that method as it is certainly worth not having to post things off.

Thanks again for your lead....we will probably do a few more lessons once Glen is back from WA judging. Cheers

I paid directly to the Swedish breeders account...I had a charge from my Bank & then a charge from the breeders bank. The charge is a fixed amount from both Banks. Therefore I got the charge with the deposit and the same lot of charges for the final payment just before the pup left. You need to factors these costs in when looking at your budget to import....it probably adds approx $100 to the cost.

Thanks...I just can't get to some of the group classes that are held at Hillsborough, so I thought some 'one on one' might help. Hopefully he can fit in with my work scedule . I will look him up!! Thanks for the lead sammy_ballerina... I went & had a lesson with Glen yesterday afternoon & it was really helpful. I will be at Castle Hill on Sunday, so we will see if there is any improvement then!!

There are not too many Category two countries, on the way from Norway, that are authorised to unseal & then reseal your crate. My pup went from Arlanda, Stockholm to Heathrow where it was mandatory that she overnighted. She was taken from the crate, fed, watered & kennelled. As Heathrow is an authorised quarantine station, they were then permitted to reseal as per our quarantine restrictions. The flight from Heathrow to Sydney went via Singapore for refuelling but she was not unloaded from the aircraft nor permitted to be taken out of the crate. The refuelling was less than an hour duration....her total time from Heathrow to Sydney was 22 hours. She was a little sooky upon arrival at Eastern Creek but by the next day was her usual mischieveous self & never looked back.

My Swedish import spent 22 hours from Heathrow to Sydney...but had actually spent alot longer at Heathrow due to dreadful weather conditions (plus she had a flight the day before from Sweden to Heathrow. On arrival at quarantine they said she was a little quiet & not wanting to eat BUT by the next day she was a different dog. Absolutely full of beans & eating everything in sight. She never looked back as is a complete wild child She was 14 weeks coming in..so I can't comment about an older dog. Would love to know what anyone has to say as I am considering another import but this time from a Category 4 country which means they can't come in until at least 8 months..

Hi I would love some assistance with show handling. I am a quite a 'newbie' to the dog show world & feel that I am not doing my lovely imported girl justice in the ring. I live in the Maitland area (Hunter Valley NSW) and would love some 'one on one' handling classes/tuition. Due to work commitments it would have to be evenings or Monday's. Any assistance or contact details of trainers would be appreciated. Cheers

Try http://www.petmove.com/ Pet Express in the US is owned by the the same person that owns Jetpets in Australia and Jetpets in the US is not connected to Jetpets in Australia. As for details of importing into Australia they can be found at: http://www.daff.gov.au/aqis/cat-dogs Thanks Wayrod...I replied to you in the other thread...thanks for you input

Preggy Girl With Itchy Boobs And Belly
Hunterhound replied to Chocolate's topic in Breeders Community
my favourite remedy is baby bum cream on the belly & boobs. It's actually zinc & castor oil cream...VERY safe as you can use it on your own baby, but it just seems to take the red out and soothe the area. I have used this 'miracle cream' for all sorts of things including itchy foals, dogs & humans. You can buy it at the supermarket in the baby section...alternatively you can pay substatially more for it through the produce store & it's called 'White Healer'. A friend of mine had a bloodhound bitch heavy in whelp with the same issue...I told her about it & she said it worked very well....she was even going to tell her vet about it!!! I hope that helps. -
Recommendations For Us Agent For Importing A Pup
Hunterhound replied to Hunterhound's topic in General Dog Discussion
Thankyou for the info.....I'm actually fine with the whole importation process, as I have recently been through it all. It was the US agent info that I was hoping to find...and get some feedback on. Have you actually used Pet Express and could recommend them....or do you just know of them?? I appreciate any input you can give. Cheers -
Hi I am toying with the idea of importing from the US (I am aware of all aspects of importing from a Category 4 country). I have imported from Sweden earlier this year & used Jetpets, who were fantastic. I am contemplating organising the import permits & quarantine myself, so maybe I can save a bit of money if I just use an agent in the US rather than using an agent that contracts the US component anyway. If anyone has done this previously & can offer any information or suggestions it would be appreciated. Cheers

Thanks for the replies, I have already been in touch with Debbie and she has sent me their prices which seem resonable, but don't seem to include any of the vet work but I could be reading that all wrong. I will e-mail her back and find out. I imported a Bloodhound pup from Sweden this year using jetpets & their agents Scandipets. The vet fees were not included...I paid my breeder to get all the necessary blood tests etc done. The breeder also had the Cert A completed for me, as this also was an additional cost if you want Scandipets to do it. Hope that helps!! Yes I was hoping to get the breeder to do the vet work as it is very expensive to get Scandipets to do it, just out of interest, what was the all up cost, I have imported from the UK before and as a rule the total cost including the price of the pup was around $9000/ $10,000. But have no idea what to expect from Sweden. To be perfectly honest I haven't done the final maths on my Swedish import....maybe a bit too scared too I know it was below what you mentioned from the UK....maybe around $8500. I'm actually surprised that it would have cost you so much from the UK. I'm not sure what you are paying for the pup but when I received a quote from Ryslip for an UK import, they were very reasonable and much cheaper than Jetpets. All up, inclusive of Cert A & bloodwork it was just short of GBP3000, then $1300 quarantine & the cost of the pup & vet charges!! The biggest factor for cost from Sweden was the size & weight of the crate....as I was importing a rather large bloodhound pup, she needed an XL Vari kennel, so it increased the price of the flights. British Airways are very particular with the size of crate (the pup must be able to sit comfortably in the crate & not hit their head). As we could not get a direct flight from Sweden, my girl came via Heathrow, taken out of the crate, fed, watered and rested in their quarantine kennels overnight...then resealed at Heathrow and made the 22 hour flight via Singapore (for refueling). Hope this helps!!

Finland - Transport Company Recommendation
Hunterhound replied to BJean's topic in Breeders Community
I brought a bitch pup from Sweden using Jetpets & Scandipets were their agent. Everything went very smoothly. I preferred, for my own piece of mind, to have an Australian agent involved. Jetpets oganised all import permits, flights, timelines for vaccinations & vet examinations etc so the process was quite painless. Finland will be slightly different as it is a Category 4 country & there will be the required Rabies vacc & titre tests....so it will take substantially longer. If it is a pup, the minimum age for entry to Australia will be 8 months (and then 30 days in quarantine) if all bloodwork etc comply with AQIS requirements. -
yeah....I've found someone in the Hunter who can help me with Rally O. With a bit of luck we can get some interest in this area & get it up & running. Thanks for everyone who offered assistance..... Anyone else from the Hunter area that is interested please PM me & I can let you know where & when we will be training. Cheers
-
I believe there's a club in Sutherland that is keen on Rally-O, they've had Angelsun up for a workshop. Or is that just a bit too far south for you? I did contact them but unfortunately they weren't able to assist. As I would obviously need to train as well, Sutherland is over 2 hours from me..so possibly a little too far on a regular basis. I will keep hunting around & hopefully something will turn up. Cheers

Are you anywhere near Sydney or the Hunter Valley??? sorry...i just spotted your location, so back to square one!!
