Why Would You Not Go To Back To The Breeder.?
budgiew replied to budgiew's topic in General Dog Discussion
I have read many times on breeders sites that they are the first point of call if any of their dogs need rehoming. If the breeder is unable to help surely they would refer them to the breed club.I have already emailed the breed club. I am sure if they are interested they can email the sellers of this dog. -
Why Would You Not Go To Back To The Breeder.?

I know they do rescue and re home for this breed as it states on the club website. -
Sore an advert today ;owners wanting to re home a pedigree pup with papers. Why would they not go back to the breeder ?I sent an email to the breed club so would perhaps be able to help him.Did i do the right thing? The breed was one i am very fond of and i could not help feeling very anxious about what will happen with him.I think i must be turning into a doggy person .

As an alternative they could take the dog to a shelter like Blue cross in Wonga Park They are in homestead road .They are a no kill shelter and they rehab many dogs that would otherwise have been PTS at other shelters. You could also try Animal aid in coldstream but give them a call first and see what they think.Blue cross is your best bet ;and at least the poor dog will have the best chance at a new life.

That's awful.Report this to the police,..What about calling a couple of radio stations and see if they can get the word out as well.

I would like to see him star in his own action movie

What's A Suitable Breed For My Lifestyle?
budgiew replied to Sabby's topic in General Dog Discussion
Congratulations,Can't wait for the pictures.I bet wolfy x will enjoy having a new play mate. -
Yes i agree with Aussielover and Nevafollo;English pointers are a nice gentle family dog; very good with people. Well worth consideration, thats why i mentioned them before.
-
Pointer.? Best of luck with whatever you decide.
-
Havanese.Non shedding;Placid ;gentle.friendly.What about a Cavalier,good with young children.

..............Reading through again,it seems you and fiancee have quite different likes as to breeds,Have you changed your mind about the Vizsla? My neighbour has one and he is so well trained and quiet indoors.I think a Vizsla would be good with a cat;so maybe they would be good living with a cavalier? So you could get another cavalier for you and a Vizsla for your Partner. If he is prepared to train and help to look after the dogs with you i think it would work. -What do you think about 2 dogs?
-
I am sorry about your little cavalier. How active do you want the dog to be?Maybe a Clumber Spaniel; The fiancee would like them;cute but not too girly.I really like these.A bit bigger than other spaniels and a bit slower and quieter. If you want more active a cocker spaniel or brittany If you walk a lot a Beagle.Bigger still a curly coated retriever;they are good indoors and active outside do not shed as much as a Golden Retriever but I also think Golden,Flat coat,or English setter.and of coarse the good old Labrador. ....Reading through again,it seems you and fiancee have quite different likes as to breeds,Have you changed your mind about the Vizsla? A couple of years ago i called the rspca and council about a notorious pet shop where some older pups had spent many weeks in their glass fish tanks. One was 7 months old. They were only let out a bit in the morning when the guy got to work he told me;or if customer wanted to check them out in the courtyard.I sent an email to a dog rescue group and they posted my email on this forum.I was not a member then;but i kept up with the big to do that followed. In the end the thread had to be deleted because the pet shop owner had got security people in as DOLers had planed to go down there. One pup at the store was let out for me to see.He kept running off a retaining wall and crashing head first onto the concrete as he did not know there were different ground levels out in the world. He was 15 weeks old Weimaraner x.Other ones there at the time were.7 month Border Collie x kelpie ;5 month old Mastiff x Ridgeback;3 juvenile cattle dogs;3 Weimaraner x lab x boxer,15 weeks old.It seems the law allows this because they have food water and shelter. Never mind that these animals have brains;or feel hot cold bored scared or lonely. If we put a chimpanze in a glass box like this there would be an immediate outcry and response. So how can society allow dogs cats an other pets to be treated like baked beans on a shelf.

They are kept out the back of the shop in wire crates stacked on top of each other.I have seen these a few times.

Olivebaby- The papers you get with your pup from a registered breeder is a warranty or guarantee;as much as one could warranty a live animal. This shows that the dog is from pure breed ancestors and has been screened for diseases .Also it is i think a contract that if there are problems with the dog then you may get assistance from the breeder after sale.If you were to breed your dog with another registered dog ,and register the puppies and sell with papers then you are not a byb. That is how i interpret it;i am not a dog breeder. If say you were to breed your dog with the labrador down the road ,you would not know if the dog had other breeds in its ancestry and selling the pups without papers and health screening that could be interpreted as backyard breeding . If i am incorrect in my interpretation someone please let me know.

Do the pups go out on their own with a flock or are there older dogs with them.Could the pups be attacked by foxes and stray dogs ? What age can they work alone.
-
Yes, may also not want to pay for vaccinations ,desexing or decent food .I have come across people like this in the past.
-
I don't know how much a breeder would charge for a mini schnauzer, but recently sore a pure breed one in pet shop for .$1,200 I was gobsmacked.

Our local pet shop have Staffy x Tenterfield terriers. What next.?

Pemphigus Foliaceus (skin Condition Usually In Dogs)
budgiew replied to Isabel964's topic in General Dog Discussion
Perhaps there may be medication that can be added to his food each day?Google in Australia www.cat.world.com.au pemphigus in cats. -
Was just trying to think of a way to keep pets out of the hands of those puppy farmers.I agree though if you are screened as a responsible owner you should be able to say get a permit to keep a not desexed animal;much the same as a registered dog breeder.
-
In my perfect world there would be no animals in pet shops. You would need to apply to a registered breeder for a pet; so as to be screened a suitable owner. All pups and kittens desexed before sale unless to another registered breeder. Is this likely to ever happen or should i just dream on.

Advert: Person wanting a free puppy for very young child;any breed would do!! I wish that people had to sit a test and get a license to own an animal .

I think if it was a neighbor they would have complained to the council.;ring them and ask if a complaint was made. We used to live next door to dog breeders;and they often asked us to tell them if the dogs were barking too much at any time.On a few rare occasions we did tell them and they always did something about it.Perhaps go see all the neighbors and ask them if the dogs are annoying them .This will set your mind at rest;and you can sort out any issues if there are any.

Bichon Frise;Poodle;cavalier ;cocker spaniel;Or a boston terrier or whippet wearing a fur coat. Maybe a beagle, but i don"t know if they would suit apartment living,??
