  2. Funnily enough the corner of the grass where my girl pees in is actually greener than the rest :p I think its because she's a small dog and the small amount is meant to be fertilizing or something. Sorry to rub it in :D
  3. Thanks everyone for your thoughts. I am petrified of the thought of having to use it!!! I'm going to look into the organic control methods and if that fails I think I'll get some of that plastic garden fencing from Bunnings and fence off half the garden. I'll do the fenced area then a couple of weeks later fence the other side and do that area. It's so hard because I have looked on the internet and found so much information saying that glyphosate is only harmful to plants and that pets should be fine but I too am skeptical. You just never know what could happen. I found a past DOL thread re the same topic via google and there were lots of people saying they had used Roundup for years and all was ok but I could never forgive myself if it hurt them in some way. Erny I think I need to borrow your dog! My two together couldn't do that much damage. I don't even have one burnt patch on my lawn and never have had - and the lawn area isn't even that big Maybe I need to invest in a bigger dog purely as a weed killer
  4. Unfortunately its a fairly large area so the boiling water option isn't really going to cut it. I have actually used this on a small patch of onion weed but it didn't kill it either.
  5. Has anyone used a weed killer that is safe to dogs? My gardener told me that Zero would be safe as long as you let it dry first but I'm unsure about this. I have the problem that as part of my landscaping I have rocks and there are weeds galore growing in it. This includes onion weed and unfortunately the only way to get rid of it is to poison it as if you pull one up 10 more appear!! Obviously I want to use something that isn't toxic to dogs, if that so much as exists... or else I'm not sure what I will do. Be taken over by weeds I suspect
  6. My dogs growls when he plays all the time and I hear it SO often 'oh your dog is aggressive' as they call their dog away. I have to as I explain that this is infact his 'play' growl. He doesn't have a mean bone in his body and would run away like the little pansy he is rather than growl (I do love him dearly but he's not exactly tough!!!) So I wouldn't stop it at all. You can certainly tell the difference when you hear the I'm not playing growl, although you might have to explain this to the people at the park etc. sometimes.
  7. Just wondering about the exercise requirements. On the Dogzonline Breed Page they are listed as only 3 paws out of 5 which I would assume is moderate. Would you say they actually require more? Does anyone else have anything to add? Its a breed I'm very interested in for the future so would be good to get some more information from current owners.
  8. Once she gets used to being in her own crate in this position, then begin moving it around so that she'll go in her crate where ever. Sounds like Miss Emmy has you wrapped around her little paw She's so cute I can understand how easy that would be :p
  9. I'd definately eat it!! But then I did drink the ice coffee that my dog stole a lick from
  10. I was going to say swap their positions as well. I also think that Emmy particularly needs to sleep in her crate at night for a while so that she learns that her crate is her space. Once she's got it worked out then let her out to sleep on the bed. Putting them both in their respective crates at the same time with a big juicy bone could help the situation as well I also wish my two would spoon like yours - poor Chip would die of a heart attack if Kiesha so much as stretched her paw towards him although he does love her really
  11. I think that Emmy needs to learn to be seperated from Charlie and ensuring that she use her own crate is one of the first steps. You don't want to get into a situation where Emmy won't use her own crate if Charlie needed to be seperated and in his own crate for example (due to his health issues maybe?). You need to make her crate as enjoyable as possible. One thing I would say is don't put the treat in the crate first to lure her in there but give her the treat as reward for going in the the crate afterwards. I would frequently put her in her crate with kongs stuffed with mince, chicken, peanut butter (anything that is high value to her) or chicken necks/wings etc so that she learns that all good things happen when she is in 'her' crate. Susan Garretts DVD Crate Games could help you also.
  12. Could you use Sentinel Spectrum AND Comfortis to be sure. Or is it not a good thing to mix the two?
  13. ;) BF had this exact problem in bed last night! Then got grumpy at me because it was my fault he was uncomfortable and couldn't move because 'my' dogs had him trapped and he felt bad for moving them since they looked so cute and comfy. Honestly couldn't have planned it better - all three on one side and a whole half a bed ALL to myself
  14. I haven't used the other product but have used Urine Off and simply wouldn't go past it. It works fantastically and is well worth the money!

    Samoyed

Hi Everyone, Samoyeds are a breed of dog that really interest me. CUrrently I'm in no position to add to the furpack but in the future I will be so you never know could end up with a Sammie. I've heard a few people mention that they are rather independent, but what is their recalls like? I know that a great recall is a byproduct of great training but there are definately some breeds out there who are much better at it than others. Thanks
  16. Oh no you poor thing. How did you notice them in your carpet? I have decided that my next step is a prest controller man to get rid of them but so far so good. I haven't found anymore fleas but I do keep finding these reddish brown things on the dogs which are like the shape of a tear drop on the dogs. I think they are about the size of a flea. I have googled images related to fleas but can't find anything similar. Are these likely to be from the fleas? I can't notice any flea dirt either.
  17. The flea saga continues.... I found a dead one on Kiesha last night. I guess its a good thing it was dead but the pesky filthy little buggers are still around in my house. More cleaning for me this long weekend
  18. Your dog will be absolutely fine out in your yard during the day while you are at work if that is what you choose. Just ensure he has enough shelter. Yet if you would like him inside that will work for him too. I bet eventually he will just sleep all day while your gone and be ready for a good game when you get home. I think as long as you allow him inside when you are home to interact with his 'hoomans' then he'll be fine while you're at work. Do whatever you feel is best.
  19. Yay for Serket ;) :happydance2 That is great news!!! I had never had a problem with fleas either while using sentinel spectrum but admittedly I did get slack with it and 'boom' the flea plague began. Although we have almost been flea free for just under a week now. Fingers crossed it remains that way. Can anyone give me an approximation of how long it would take before you would start seeing them again on your dog normally? ETA: Jules Loves Cavs, I hope that they settle down for you soon!
  20. Just wondering if this order is still going ahead? No pressure, not fussed how long it takes but if not I'll look at some other toys
  21. I originally wanted the dogs to sleep on th bed but ex OH wasn't too keen. He then moved onto loving it and I wanted to kick them off. I got them sleeping in their own beds only to find ex OH was sneaking them onto the bed. So I gave up. When ex OH and I broke up it was the middle of winter so I kept my little hot water bottles on the bed to snuggle with. My new bf doesn't seem to mind (well hasn't mentioned anything ) but am sure he wouldn't dare. So there is 4 in the bed most nights. My dogs don't moult though and I think if I had a dog which did then there would be a strict no bed or furniture rule.
  22. Righto - definately changing then.
  23. I saw that too! Lucky for us we excluded everyone as we went away for 4 days so they couldn't attack anyone while they died When I got home I vacuumed and cleaned again and found lots of dead ones so hopefully they stay dead Hopefully the little buggers are now gone for good. But it does sound like they're pretty hard to get rid of. My poor boys skin is red raw though and obviously still very itchy. Fingers crossed it gets better for him soon.
