  1. Re-read what I wrote to Sheridan. How is that an answer to my question??
  2. I think Pitbulls are a dangerous breed - in the wrong hands. Just like any other big, powerful breed. Pitbulls aren't a registered breed here anyway, so how can you really KNOW you have a pitbull? And as far as I have read, nobody is slamming PBs. And just out of curiosity, if I don't know what a PB is and people experienced in the breed don't know what a PB is and the council assessors don't know what a PB is - then who IS qualified to identify one??
  3. OK guys, whatever. I believe I know a pitbull when I see one, but obviously only pitbull owners are intelligent enough to ACTUALLY be able to ID a PB.
  4. Conveniently skipped my post, hey? Most RESPONSIBLE breeders breed dogs like you have described. However, the breeders that these idiots source their dogs from are more than likely NOT responsible. Who knows what traits they are breeding for?
  5. I've been involved in rescue for over 6 years now. I know my dog breeds. Amazing, huh? And no actually, the owner told me what breed it was. After he had managed to beat his 10 month old "puppy" off my poor dog. His dog slipped its collar to race down the path and attack my on-lead dog. My dog didn't even have time to respond. I don't trust PB's after that, but I am smart enough to understand that its not the breed at fault.
  6. Absolutely. I have no doubt that the PB is a wonderful dog - IN THE RIGHT HANDS. But these dogs unfortunately attract some absolute moron owners who think its cool to have a tough dog, so they rough it up and encourage it to attack other dogs, growl at people, etc. and eventually it leads to disaster. The breed is a big, powerful dog so when they do end up aggressive, the results can be horrific. So how do you stop that? The only answer I can see is tighter regulations on pet ownership. Perhaps to own a PB you need to have 5 years of responsible dog ownership? And you must attend obedience and have it desexed, etc. Something along those lines anyway.
  7. My girl was skinny until she got to about 4yrs old, then she fattened up. Have you tried giving her puppy food?
  8. Lo Pan, believe it or not, there are some people other than pitbull owners who do know what a pitbull looks like. I think I am one of them. My own dog WAS attacked by a pitbull 2 years ago - I posted about it at the time, but did not mention the breed. Don't claim to know what I am thinking or what I care about. I don't want to see any breeds banned but I am sick of the PB people refusing to acknowledge that maybe, just maybe a pitbull HAS attacked a dog/person before and maybe just maybe, in this case, a PB was involved.
  9. Haha. I remember once I started a thread about a man walking a pitbull-looking dog who was smirking as his dog lunged and barked. I was shot down in flames because how could I possibly know it was a pitbull!
  10. How can you say the attack didn't involve a pitbull, when the owner called it a pitbull?
  11. Those statistics definitely paint a picture, but we also need to take into account how many people own those dogs. Pitbulls made up a very large number of those attack stats - would it be fair to say however, that they are probably also some of the most commonly owned dogs in America? And we also need to look at WHO is owning these dogs. How many of those dogs were owned by responsible adults? How many were owned by idiots who think its cool to make their dog tough? The druggies, the gangsters, etc. I am not a fan of pitbulls myself however I think if you are going to try to show something with stats, you need the relevant info to back up those stats.
  12. I am so sorry. That was a beautiful tribute and I bet Buddy is watching over you right now. RIP beautiful boy.
  13. I thought it might be, but I'm at work and didn't want to google in case it came up with photos! LOL! I imagine that would be quite irritating, so perhaps see how she goes once the infection is cleared up. Poor girl!
  14. I'm not sure what vaginitis is, but it sounds like an infection? If thats the case, perhaps its irritating her which is why she keeps peeing?
  15. Ahh I have tears in my eyes! I don't know if its true or not, but it certainly struck a nerve in me. If the child had only been caught up for a second, he would have had no marks or anything. And who knows when exactly it happened, it may have been hours earlier and the child has been seen by a Dr already.
  16. You did the right thing. You said he was scared, if cornered by a strange dog or person he may have attacked someone, and that would have been another black mark against the breed. He is now safe and has a full tummy. It sucks but at least he isn't going to hurt anyone or be hurt himself. I hope he gets a second chance, but if not, at least he won't suffer.
  17. Isn't this kind of cheating though? I mean, if the ears don't sit right, wouldn't it be better to not breed from her and breed for better ears? I have no idea about breeding so maybe thats not how it works, just seems odd.
  18. I'm sorry you have gone through this. The puppy didn't look like a cross to me, but it definitely didn't look right. She looked sickly even then I think. I really hope your perfect puppy is just around the corner. :p

    Scared Puppy

He isn't scared of something in the house, is he? Are the floors slippery or perhaps a strange smell (paint, etc). If he is a nervous dog, the scarey thing is perhaps tipping him over the edge?

    Rip Rocky

That is so sad. ;) RIP little Rocky. I hope your poor Aunty is doing OK.
  21. Looks like a callous to me. My dog has them on his back legs from sleeping on concrete (he doesn't have to sleep on concrete, he chooses to - strange dog). :D
  22. I'm sorry for your loss. RIP Nugget.
  23. We tried GB recently and I was disappointed. My dogs will eat anything and do well on anything, but the GB just went straight through them. It is hard to tell living here though because my IL's feed them scraps all the time.. Anyway, back to the topic... We have used Cobber dryfood and Bonnie with great success. Add some raw bones, raw eggs and fresh meat and you have happy dogs.
  24. Oh Snowy. She'll always be with you. I swear I can feel the presence of the cat I lost last year. I hope Ellie comes to visit you too.
