Gorgeous puppies!

I am so sorry for your loss. Feral sounded like a very special character. RIP cheeky kitty.
-
Thanks, they are very cute dogs. That is my MIL in the photos, and they just follow her everywhere.
-
Just some random photos of my BIL's pug Oscar, and my MIL's Frenchie Louis. Oscar was staying with us while his owners were away, and boy that dog has the sad look perfected! LOL! They are both about 1 year old now and cheeky as anything! Oscar is the most active, crazy dog I've ever known - Louis is a couch potato!
-
That is awesome! Is there anywhere in Melbourne that does Dock Diving? My boy would love it!
-
Great photos, the birds all look amazing. I love the Macaws though, especially the Hyacinth Macaw. Stunning!
-
Wow, they are some freaky looking pigeons! LOL!

I am so sorry for your loss. The Lort Smith in Melbourne have counsellors/chaplains you can talk to about the loss of a pet. Perhaps give them a call.

Lolly is gorgeous! That last pic is a classic, Kammy looks like she is saying "Um... what is she doing?"

ROFL!!!!!!

Haha that is so cute!! Baaaaaad dogs! LOL!
-
Oh no. I am so sorry. Sending you big hugs. RIP sweet Bindi.
-
Can someone please tell this to my dog? LOL!
-
What a gorgeous little girl, she was lucky to find you. RIP sweet girl.

I don't think the early desexing would have made a difference. He is a cross breed, so you can't compare him to other breeds, even similar crosses because each one can be very different (genetically, mentally and/or physically). My dog was desexed at 18 months and is now 7yo - he STILL acts like a huge, stupid puppy.
-
Kyliegirl, that black dobe looks EXACTLY like my grandparents Dobe, and he was desexed when he was about 10 years old (for medical reasons). He was tall and leggy, and didn't have a boof head either. He was a pedigree and his parents were show winners. I think comparing dogs is very difficult because who knows what role genetics have played.

OMG no! What happened? She was such a beautiful girl, she deserved to live a long life. I am so sorry. RIP sweet Hope.

There are also studies that show there is no real difference or increased health risks. Depends where you look I guess. :D From my experience, early desexed animals tend to be 'leggier' and can often be taller that their later desexed counterparts. Males desexed early often don't get the big boofy male head either.

Gorgeous photos Annie! Just lovely. I bet the couple will be thrilled! Where did they get married? That first photo looks very high up!

Jed, he writes his own articles and letters. Its not someone else reporting on him. He believes that stray cats are purely to blame for cat over-population and that people who own undesexed cats are not responsible for the problem... I have had a few newspaper-based arguments with him because of his views. The facts are out there on early age cat desexing - there are NO greater risks. I know dozens of rescuers and breeders who have been early desexing for years. I don't know a single person who has lost a kitten because of it being desexed. And no long-term issues either. I won't argue about dogs because I haven't done the research, but with cats the risks/problems just aren't there. All the recent research shows that. If a kitten dies while being desexed, it has nothing to do with its age. There are no greater risks when desexing a kitten compared to an adult. The recovery times are much, much faster. There is just no argument AGAINST early desexing of kittens. The practise of desexing cats at 6 months is outdated and irresponsible when you consider that most moggies come into season at about 5 months and most owners don't keep their cats indoors.

I do hope these poor dogs will be given every chance to find a home. That poor Cocker. I can't imagine the fear and stress she must be feeling. God I hate people sometimes.
-
Why does he have to be confined? Why not crate him when you're out?
-
So what do they do then? Who will take them on? Or should they just keep all the dogs, and keep getting more and more and more... Around 250,000 cats and dogs are PTS in shelters every year in Australia. Where should we put all those animals if we don't PTS?

There is lots of information against it, and a lot of it involves difference in growth etc between early desexed or not. If you google Dr. Harry Corbett, a vet in Vic, you will find he has a lot of practical things to say about it. Are you serious?? Dr Corbett is a nutter. He is against desexing ANY animal at a young age, including kittens, despite all the information out there proving how safe it is. He frequently rants in my local paper about how many kittens have died at his clinic this week because of being desexed early... Absolute rot. Sorry but have no respect for him AT ALL. The paper I am referring to was based on research conducted by numerous vets. I'll try and dig it up.

I think he'll be fine. Expect some gross poops though!
