  1. The local PP here has Staffy x Maltese puppies quite frequently.
  2. My MIL's Frenchie had mange (some sort of cattle mange - can't remember the name) and the vet put him on some pretty strong drugs. Cleared it up very quickly though.
  3. A bit of poop here and there won't hurt them. Just keep them up to date with their normal worming and you will be fine.

    Fraser

I'm very sorry for your loss. RIP Fraser.
  5. Don't have any advice, just wanted to send my best wishes. Poor old man, that doesn't seem fair.
  6. I wouldn't be encouraging it HOWEVER my dogs used to eat them by the bucketload (they would actually climb our tree to eat them) and they never had any problems. Some poos would contain 5-6 stones!! Ouch!! It is very possibly that they could cause an obstruction so keep an eye on her.

    Loki

I'm so sorry Haven. RIP Loki.
  8. I am so very sorry Gillbear. That just doesn't seem fair at all. RIP sweet Abbie. Watch over your mum.
  9. As an ex-groomer, I groomed a lot of "bad" dogs. No way in hell would I have returned a dog in that state. We prided ourselves on the 'finished product' regardless of how difficult the dog was. Brushing is not enough to remove undercoat like that. We would have raked the dog first to loosen the hair, then bathed it and blowed it until the hair stopped coming. It would then have been lightly brushed to get the last few out. $60 is expensive for a wash and dry (that's what we charged but as I said, we were all about the finished product).
  10. Oh for christ's sake!! WHERE did I say I let my kids do anything to my dogs? Point that out to me please huski. My kids are always supervised with the dogs and taught how to handle dogs correctly. My 2yo is a pain because she is rough with them, so she gets a smack on the bum if she is rough. I know my dogs well enough to know then they are sick/in pain BEFORE they resort to biting. Nothing irritates ME more than people who think dogs have higher value than children.
  11. huski, grow up. Maybe one day when you have kids you'll understand. I would PTS a dog if it severely bit a child. Wouldn't think twice about it. If it nipped the child for being rough, then I wouldn't. But my kids are FAR more important than my pets and I'll do whatever I have to to protect them. I don't think its entirely the dogs fault but I believe the way they respond to things shows their character. Eg. my in-laws dog used to turn and attack you if you accidentally stood on its foot. My own dogs, if you did that, would yelp or run. Not bite. And no I don't purposely go around hurting my dogs, but I've had them for 8 years so I know them pretty well.
  12. I don't believe that. If a lower ranking wild dog reacted to being hurt by a pack leader by biting the pack leader, that dog would be dealt with swiftly.
  13. If I stood on my dog's tail or fell on them, they wouldn't maul me. I believe it IS a judge of character how a dog reacts when startled/hurt.
  14. I still think its a load of crap. Nobody has had a result say "One parent was x, other parent was y" - its always "a bit of this, a bit of that" and most of the results seem totally wrong! I have said it before, but I would LOVE to get my boy done because he is an F1 cross and I saw both his parents. I bet the results wouldn't show that though.
  15. A fe people on here have had it done, and I am pretty sure that they weren't happy with the results.
  16. I am someone who believes that if a food works for you and your dog, stick to it. If the puppy is healthy and happy, you may as well stick to Supercoat. My own dog had a very sensitive tummy when she was little and we tried EVERY food known to man (and dog) but the only thing that didn't upset her was Supercoat. I have found it to be a good product for a lot of dogs and I subsequently used it on dozens of foster dogs and my own puppies. Oh and congrats on your new baby!! I am so happy for you and I hope this new baby can help you recover from the loss of your gorgeous Fraser.
  17. Oh pers, I am so sorry. RIP Dulcie and babies. :p
  18. To be honest, that behaviour doesn't sound overly aggressive. It sounds like dominance and maybe jealousy, but not aggression. Having said that, it could definitely be a precursor to aggression. My dogs will tell off naughty puppies when they get too boisterous or cheeky, they might growl or snap at them to put them in their place. But no damage is ever done, its all just a warning. To err on the side of caution, I would keep them seperate when you're not home and also feed them seperately.
  19. I need to speak with someone with regard to a dog. Not my dog, just need some help. Please pm me if you can help.
  20. Guide dogs aren't given bones while working, or allowed to roam around while their owner is otherwise occupied. They also no doubt have much better manners than this husky.
  21. My daughter was almost bitten on the face while I was talking to the dog's owner. I was holding her hand at the time and she was standing quietly beside me. The dog lunged at her face suddenly and it was only the fact that he was on a lead that saved my daughter from being seriously bitten. Was I not supervising my child? She was attached to my hand, but had she been bitten, no doubt the crazies on here would find someway to make it MY fault or my child's fault.
