Could it be a piece of clothing? My Dane puppy is always stealing socks, which she then eats whole... Her poops look a bit like that afterwards!

I am so very sorry. That was a beautiful tribute. RIP Kansas.

Cynthia, that is Pia, my 6mo Greyhound foster.

No worries Erny. Aussie, I loved the legs too.

The dogs spent the afternoon inside today, camped out under the A/C - do you think they are relaxed? LOL! Feel free to add your hot dog pics.

No, Victoria doesn't work that way. Every council has different rates and rules, but regardless of what council, the rego is a yearly thing. I think its about $30 per animal per year (desexed) and about $100 for entire animals per year. If you move councils, you pay a new rego fee for that year. I already pay for the desexing, microchip and at least one (but usually two) vaccs. Its just another added expense. Anyway, I don't want to clog up this forum with rescue stuff! Sorry! Was just trying to work out the most economical way to do things legitimately. ETA: I have just checked my old council's website and their prices are so much cheaper!! $13 per animal. :D Why did I move? LOL!

That is my current motto but I am scared that if they ever found out, they would take them off me. Mind you, my cats are all indoor only so nobody would even know they were there. I can't imagine how much breeders must be paying, especially when registering an entire pet is so expensive!

Exactly! I was at Lillydale Lake last week and there were offlead dogs EVERYWHERE! Dozens of them - swimming in the lake, running on the beach, playing on grass... I thought 'Great! Didn't know this place was offlead! Will bring my dogs next time!". However, on my way out, I passed several signs that read "NO DOGS ON BEACH", 'ALL DOGS MUST BE ON LEADS", etc.

calypso, not sure what state you are in, but there are several Pug Rescues that I can think of. And people, she has decided she wants a rescue puppy!! Not a pedigree!! If she feels prepared for what that entails, then good luck! We should be encouraging her for choosing to rescue instead of going to a BYB or pet shop. Not everyone wants a pedigree puppy.

Well, I personally would not want my kennelled dogs mixing with other dogs. If you are happy for him to have play time with other dogs though, then I think you need to accept that minor scrapes will be part and parcel. They may not have noticed it and hence not told you. If they did know it was there though, they should definitely have told you.

I bought a massive bed (its about 1.2m x 90cm) for my dogs and currently all four can squeeze on (Lab x, BC x, Greyhound puppy and Great Dane puppy). I got it at the markets for about $40. My dogs destroy everything so it isn't worth me spending big $$ on beds. This one has several covers on it because they keep ripping them! LOL!

Awww they are so cute!! My BIL is always making noises about getting another pug, and I keep telling him about Pug Rescue.
-
According to the lady I spoke to, yes that is correct. I wonder if maybe I could apply for a cattery permit instead? It seems really unfair that I would have to pay for animals to be reg'd that will only be here for a month or two!!
-
Well it will work out to be very expensive, once you add in all the individual rego's. If I take in 20 foster cats a year, thats 20 x rego fees plus the permit plus my own animals.
-
Just wondering how you all cope with breeder permits from the council? I have just spoken to our council about getting one (so I can have more foster cats) and was told that I have to pay about $120 per year for the permit PLUS individual rego for each cat (I have to register each foster, even though I won't have it long!!). Is my council a rip off, or are they all like that?

Reading what slk has written, none of the dogs she adopted were unsuitable because of BREED. They were dead, aggressive or deaf! Nothing to do with their breed. Many many dog owners are not set on a particular breed and are flexible to meet any dog's needs. I am that type of owner. I have four dogs with very very different needs here, and I adjust to suit each one. If you have an open mind and are flexible, there is nothing wrong with adopting a mixed breed pound puppy.

I have had a few dealings with Save-A-Dog and they are all lovely people. They seem to do good health and temperamane tests, but I've never actually adopted from them. They have a website and their puppies are listed on it.

Run Free Little Bebe, Free Of Pain At Last
Kirty replied to Her Majesty Dogmad's topic in Rainbow Bridge
I'm so sorry dogmad. :D What a kind thing you did for her though, I know she will be waiting for you at the Bridge. RIP little Bebe. -
Bec, my dog knows when he has been naughty too. We get home and he is nowhere to be seen. We immediately check the yard, and sure enough he will have found something and destroyed it. But if he has been good, he is there to greet us at the door.

I saw this in the paper today, great article. And yay for the AAPS getting some well deserved publicity!!

I am so sorry. RIP big boy.

After reading all the 'cons' against desexing, its amazing we have any dogs left at all. My parents dog was desexed at 6 months and lived to be almost 18 years old. My dogs are all desexed and going strong. All my fosters have been desexed and no issues there either. But my grandparents Dobe was not desexed and had to have big surgery later in life when he developed a painful prostate problem. After the op, he lived another few years. I think he was 14 when he died.
-
Is she desexed? She could be coming into season. Hormones do funny things to dogs.

greytmate, what the hell is in your sig??? ROFL!! I am mesmerized and can't stop watching! LOL!

Pia sits all the time. She will sit on command sometimes, but she always sits before I feed her now - usually before I even get a chance to ask. And she often sits on the couch with us.
