I am ao sorry for your loss. RIP little Bobby.

Wow, that is very scary. Thankfully, the animals do not interact unless we are there. Cats are inside, dogs are outside. Dogs come inside when we are home. I don't trust any of my dogs with the cats, but Phoebe is definitely the scariest.

LOL! -
It just surprised me that it has suddenly gotten so bad. Especially seeing as she has been raised around them. Will get onto Cosmo again.

Advocate is pretty strong stuff. I won't use anything stronger than Advantage on my puppies/kittens. It sounds like a reaction, not neuroligcal. What was the puppy being fed at the breeders place? Can the owner switch back to that diet for now. Some dogs have weird allergies, eg red meat, pasta, etc.

That is just not fair. RIP Magnus and Meg. Just not fair. -
My in-laws dog (RIP) was terrified of storms. He would often run away during a storm and take cover in someone's front yard! The funny thing was, they would all baby him and cuddle him and make a big fuss. Gazza and I did not see eye to eye, so if he tried to get attention from me during a storm, I'd tell him to cut it out and make him do a sit, etc. From then on, whenever there was a storm, he would actively seek me out! I think he felt safer around me because I was 'so brave'. LOL!

They are NEVER alone together (dogs are only inside when we are home), but she is a big dog and my foster kittens are tiny - one quick snap and she'd kill them. Tam, I think its time for another visit! LOL!

My Great Dane is becoming increasingly interested in my cats. Unfortunately, as her confidence grows, so too does her prey drive. She has been raised around the cats, and didn't use to show much interest. Now she watches them through the window VERY keenly, and when I bring her inside she gets a bit too rough with them. I am now shutting the cats away when she is inside. She is almost 12 months old. Is it possible to train this out of a dog? Or is it going to be a management issue.

Our local council will only come and get a dog if you have caught it already. I once found a scared little dog running all over a major highway - it was an accident waiting to happen. The dog was too scared for me to catch so I called the council, hoping they'd come out with a catch pole. Nup, they told me to just leave it if I couldn't catch it. Useless.

Poor baby. Wishing him a speedy and full recovery.

I feel so silly, sitting here at work in tears over somebody I have never met. But Jed has been such a huge part of DOL, I always love reading her posts. And all I can think about is how she must be feeling, to know that so many of her gorgeous babies are gone. Jed, I am so very very sorry for what has happened. You and your family are in my thoughts and I am sending as many get well vibes as I can. To everyone who is helping, thank you so much for doing such fantastic work. We are all with you in spirit. Making a donation now. -
Just a quick update on Sam. I took him to see another vet and the vet was really happy with his leg. He was amazed that it had healed so well, especially considering he had no treatment! He said the bones had fused quite well and that they would continue to heal as he grows. He said there was no need to re-break it and no need for amputation. :D He said the greatest risk would be if the muscles fused or became rigid (sorry, can't remember his exact words) but that Sam was not showing any signs of that. He had normal range of movement and no pain. ;)

I'd love to come to your classes, but I work on Saturdays. :D Knox are great in the puppy classes, they use all positive methods but then for some reason they switch to choker chains and corrections when you go up? Phoebe is actually doing really well and can cope with corrections, I really want to go for socialisation not so much the training aspect. Although she would do with some training cos she is naughty! LOL!

Haha, what good dogs. :D My dog recalled off a possum that ran right under her nose once - I think she was in shock!

Staffordshire BT's and APBTs are different breeds?

I definitely believe some people have a special gift when it comes to animals. I have seen it myself twice, both times with horses. One was an equine dentist who was attempting to file the teeth of a very head-shy horse. The horse was so frightened, but he just did this very slow, gentle massage on the horses head while talking to it, and the horse instantly calmed down and allowed his teeth to be done. The second time was with a horse I owned. I had bought him sight unseen, he was supposed to be a 2yo Clydie cross but turned out to be a 5yo Brumby! He was completely unhandled and quite dangerous. He would strike out with his front legs at random and it took us weeks to get the way-too-small halter off him (which I suspect was put on in a cattle crush because there was no way you could get near him). Anyway, I couldn't bear to send him to the doggers so I advertised him warts and all. A lovely couple came to get him. The man walked into the yard, talking to Charlie and got a halter on him within 2 mins! He then put a lead rope on and walked him onto the float!! My jaw was on the floor! LOL!
