The majority of the sighthounds I know are reserved, or maybe aloof is a better word? But not timid. I work with a Pharoah Hound and an Ibizan Hound and both can be quite snobby, but they aren't frightened. My own Greyhound is sensitive (if you scold her, you can see her heart break in front of your eyes lol) but she LOVES attention and loves everyone and everything. :D

Any tips to stop a puppy peeing with excitement when you first let them inside or come home, etc. She is about 4 months old and has only just started doing it. Very frustrating!

Yesterday I made the heart-breaking decision to give my foster girl Nessie her wings. It was by far the hardest, most devastating thing I have done in rescue and I still don't know that I have done the right thing. I tried to put her first and ignore how I felt. I am so so sorry Nessie. I wish so badly that I could have done something to make it all OK. RIP beautiful girl. Your owners may have discarded you, but I will never forget you. xxx

zara, yes these attacks will continue to occur and some of them may be by Pitbull type dogs. Why? Because the morons who own these dogs don't register them or train them, they are kept hidden until they one day escape. How long has BSL been around in Victoria? The rules have been in place for what 1-2 years and the girl was still killed. The dog that killed her was not registered so council had no idea it existed. Just like the thousands of other underground restricted breed dogs. Banning things does not work. Drugs are illegal, speeding is illegal, etc. Does that stop people being killed? Nup. The solution is not to ban these breeds but to instead ensure that they are owned responsibly.

I don't know pers. But if the OP informs her of the possible health problems (and if the dog has been roaming, who knows what might have knocked it up) then the owner is making an informed decision to breed with the dog regardless of knowing about the risks.

Has she had her Labrador hip scored? DNA tested for PRA? Those tests cost a couple of hundred dollars each and if she fails to do them, and breeds affected pups, she can be sued by the puppy's owners.

Dogs aren't 'angry'. That is a human emotion. How many people have Pitbulls killed in Australia zara? You are buying into the media's crap. The tragic death of the little girl in Melbourne is the first Pitbull related death and in fact, it wasn't even a purebred Pitbull. So should we ban Mastiffs too? Any dog can be bred for aggression. Pitbulls have been regarded as THE dog to own if you are a yobbo for a looooong time. These yobbos have been breeding FOR aggression for a loooong time. Of course there are some examples of this breed which are born with unstable temperaments but that's because it has been selected for by idiots. There are many more LOVELY Pitbulls that have been bred to have wonderful temperaments. If we ban Pitbulls, the yobbos will move onto another breed and destroy that too.

I've been to a few rallies at Parliament House on weekends and it does get a fair bit of both vehicle and pedestrian traffic.

Might not be Cavoodles, was just making the point that the company offers testing for crossbreeds too. I will check on Monday and let you know what breeds/crosses are in there.

Our brochures for DNA testing include Labradoodles, Cavoodles, Spoodles, etc. We see lots of Spoodles with PRA unfortunately.

I was at the Oscars Law rally last week and listened while a Labour MP touted that the Labour Government were committed to shutting down puppy farms. LOL

I'll keep an eye out haven, fingers crossed they are home soon!

We had always had girls together and had no problems, but earlier this year we went through hell when our great dane decided she wasnt going to tolerate our greyhound Pia anymore. She seriously attacked her twice and I am fairly certain Pia would have been killed if my husband hadnt been there to stop it. It was awful.

Council rangers apparently go and investigate. I thought it was a 'dob in a Pitbull' hotline, but there was no mention of breeds.

I just heard an ad for the Dangerous Dog Hotline on the radio. It talked about dangerous and threatening dogs, no mention of Pit Bulls or any other breeds. Just said to call if you felt threatened by a particular dog.
