One of my foster kittens from about 3-4 years ago has been handed in to a vet clinic in Geelong, and for some reason is still chipped in my name. I have been unable to reach the people who adopted her, and the vet will only hold her until Thursday morning. After that she will go to the pound. I will take her back and I don't want her going to the Geelong pound after what I've heard about that place. I am hoping like mad that her owners will pick her up before then, but if they don't would anyone be able to pick her up and hold her for a few days until I can come and get her? I am stressing like mad and I can't get down there until the weekend. Any help would be much appreciated!!

Clipping A Double Coated Breed
Kirty replied to aussielover's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
When I was a groomer, I clipped a few short coated dogs, including one Labrador. He was clipped because he shed too much apparently (wasn't my place to judge!), but anyway we used a #10 blade so his coat was very short! It would definitely be easier to see a tick on that length coat. He was done once or twice a year and I didn't notice any difference in his coat when it grew back. You need to remember though that ticks will still get in their ears, under their tails, between their toes, etc. -
I need to buy a really cheap soft crate. Does anyone have the link to that website that often has them on special? Thanks!

I've been to Kate's a few times with foster dogs. - Its amazing to see those repressed instincts kick in. Its so amazing to watch.

But they weren't Pit Bulls, so clearly the new legislation is working....

Buckets just do not fit sighthounds either lol. Poor bubby!

I am still planning on being there, bringing some friends too! Do you know what dogs will be attending yet? If you need any bomb-proof volunteers, let me know. I didn't get that email though? -
Poor baby. I have had a cat that was allergic to the sutures we used and she was so irritated by them! Will he let you put an ice pack on the wound? And I second the suggestion to get some Rescue Remedy. Otherwise can you give him a big meaty bone to distract him?

I'm so sorry for your loss. RIP Tara.

Gayle do you train at Kate's place?

I need to name a new foster pup and am stuck on ideas! Large breed female pup with a disability. Need a name that signifies strength, braveness, determination, etc. Any ideas much appreciated!

Our dog growing up caught so many Cane Toads - literally dozens of them - and every time, we just rinsed her mouth out with the hose and she never suffered any ill effects. Keep an eye on him, but he should be fine.

Why Do Sighthounds Tend To Be Timid/sensitive?
Kirty replied to corvus's topic in General Dog Discussion
I got Borzoi cuddles last week and those dogs didn't know me from a bar of soap. At first they seemed completely disinterested as I patted them - but then I stopped... I got head-butted and nose-poked and whacked with paws until I relented and gave them more cuddles. :D They were dignified and reserved, not shy or timid. :D -
I'm So Excited! And I Just Can't Hide It!
Kirty replied to Ness1409's topic in General Dog Discussion
Can't answer your questions sorry but just want to say YAY! I can imagine how excited you must be after so long apart! -
I was quite unwell on Sunday and spent most of the day in bed. Very disappointed that I couldn't make it. Hopefully next time!

Sorry but I think this whole thing is a load of BS. What a perfect coincidence that the dog who the person wants to breed goes missing during her season and comes back probably pregnant.
-
Sorry but why was this pup not at the vets? Why didn't you take him? I agree with poodlefan that the dehydration alone would have killed him. But yes, I would be very concerned that it was parvo and yes it can kill that quickly - especially left untreated. Yes your car could be infected and no, vaccinating now will NOT protect the other pup.

Don't tell me that! I'm hoping that because it is a new behaviour, that its just a phase...
