  1. Of course! Once I speak to the vet, I will do a proper intro for her.
  2. Update! Apparently it's food poisoning! The tests on the other pups have come back as some sort of salmonella type thing. I'm going to speak to their vet tomorrow and get the official report, but they are confident its definitely not parvo. I'm so relieved! I'm still going to keep disinfecting for a few more weeks just to be safe but phew!
  3. The vet treating the other pups have apparently confirmed it is not parvo. They are waiting on more test results which should be in tomorrow. I am still treating as if it is parvo with regard to cleaning, just in case.
  4. Yep she is on Trizine. The bloating has gone this morning, no poops yet but she is bright and happy.
  5. I am so sorry Staffyluv. He was a truly special dog. RIP gorgeous boy.
  6. This afternoon she seemed a bit quieter and her poops were starting to get soft again, so I went back to the vet. Parvo test negative, but vet said they aren't very reliable. She has put her on meds in case it is coccidia and I have to take a stool sample in tomorrow. Tonight, she has got the runs again. She is still happy and bouncy and eating well. *sigh* What a saga. Other pups from the litter have also been back at the vet and the vet dealing with them thinks it is not parvo but some sort of nasty bacterial infection. He has sent stool samples from those pups off to the lab so we should get some more results tomorrow.
  7. Latest story I read says that the dead dog was a Staffy and it was killed by one of the Pit Bulls from next door, while the other two tried to get through the fence.
  8. My vet hasn't tested my pup for anything, because she is now clinically well. I'm not sure what the other pups were tested for.
  9. Is this the breeder who used to have Maine Coons and Ragdolls? The name sounds very familiar. Chris the rebel wolf, entire cats make a HELL of a noise and they STINK too. In suburbia they would be very hard to hide, but perhaps these people lived more rurally.
  10. Wow. Just wow. So someone disagrees with you being cruel and this is what you dish out? Bloody hell, people keep pet rats and mice and rabbits alongside dogs and cats every day - is that cruel too? What a nasty piece of work you are. If you want to kill snakes in a cruel manner, go ahead. But don't attack other people simply because they choose NOT to be cruel.
  11. In my quote, I said if my dog was in danger I might kill the snake, if I had something handy. Otherwise I would protect my dogs the best I can. But if I lived in a snake-prone area, my dogs WOULD be protected by the methods already listed. But hey, I guess I am just one of those 'do-gooders' that doesn't like killing things just because they exist. I suppose you think we should hunt down sharks that kill swimmers too? And while we're at it, why don't we eradicate all the spiders too just in case they DARE to enter our homes. And why not kill all lions, tigers, bears, etc because they kill people too. What a fun world that will be.
  12. Do you have a link? I tried Ebay but couldn't find any.
  13. They were wormed (as far as I know) at 2, 4, 6 weeks with Drontal worming suspension. I have since given her a Drontal tablet.
  14. cockerlover, can you make them in hot pink and purple? :D
  15. I'm not saying you shouldn't protect your dogs, but when someone gives you a easy, humane option and you choose the cruel option, I think that is rough. If a snake was about to bite my dog, I might kill it. But I would have tried everything possible first to prevent them from coming near my dogs in a HUMANE way.
  16. Or fungus. I also don't find it soothing - I know when I have used it on animals it is quite stingy.
  17. Pup had the runs before I brought her home (started that day). Other pups had the same symptoms and now two have tested positive to parvo. She has been fed the same food she was on, except for chicken and rice.
  18. I am looking for some plastic-coated webbing leads. I bought some from a seller ages ago but they don't make them anymore. This link shows the type of material I am looking for. I actually saw someone with the exact leads I'm after at the rally on Saturday and I was going to ask about them but then I lost sight of the person! LOL! Anyway, does anyone know of somewhere I can buy them? Thanks!
  19. Hmmm this is getting more and more interesting! Just found an article about Campylobacter which said the virus will sometimes give false positives for parvo? The symptoms described are the closest match to my pup and the rest of the pups. One symptom was crying with pain - she cried for the first 24hrs that she was here but I assumed she was just stressed. Will get her tested for Campylobacter ASAP. http://www.afghanhoundsinternational.net/health/campy.htm
  20. I just wish I knew either way. Everything I am reading says a parvo pup is a very sick pup - which mine is not. But I guess better to be safe than sorry.
  21. So more reading has revealed that vaccination can cause false positives 5-17 days after vaccination. It also seems that false negatives are more uncommon than false positives. Bloody hell this is so confusing!!!
  22. I just googled Corona virus and it sounds similar, but not quite spot on. She hasn't had watery poos and the symptoms have lasted too long. Another question - is it possible to get false positives for parvo?
  23. Thats the thing, there has been no blood at all. Its all very weird. She hasn't had any meds and the only thing I did was give her some sub-cut fluids when she was a bit flat on that one day. I have ordered some Protexin.
  24. And can you get really mild cases? I guess I am just hoping for a miracle because I am not looking forward to disinfecting my entire house and yard. I always disinfect myself before work anyway but I'm being even more thorough now - footbath at the front door, putting on clothes just before I leave, etc.
