  1. Thanks all, I love her to bits. She is supposed to be a foster, but we'll see. She amazes me every day and I can't wait to start tracking with her. I am so grateful to her breeder too for deciding to give her a chance.
  2. There is a video of Stevie in general. As for the toiletting, the deterrant spray didn't do much but with persistance she is now going on the grass 90% of the time. When she does go on the deck, I clean it thoroughly and spray more repellant. Hopefully she'll stop eventually!
  3. Stevie was born blind, so she has no idea she is 'special'. She is bold and confident, but also quite sensible. She rarely crashes into things because she likes to assess new places/situations carefully. She is best mates with my Standard Poodle pup and loves the kids.
  4. Hope this works! I'm using my phone so I'm not sure how to add links. Anyway, hopefully this is a video of my blind foster pup playing in the hose today. She LOVES water, especially the hose. Turn the sound down unless you want to hear my daughter sulking!
  5. Yesterday, while driving home from the beach in the 34 degree heat, I noticed a woman walking her dog. At first I thought the dog was limping, but then I realised it was 'hopping' on the burning hot footpath. The owner was completely oblivious, dragging the poor dog along behind her. Honestly, what are some people thinking?? If it's too hot for you to walk barefoot on the concrete, its too hot for the poor dog too!
  6. Poor little guy. What was the outcome?
  7. Just saw on the news that a family dog attacked its owners, leaving them with parts of their fingers missing. Large bringle crossbreed - looked like Am Bulldog or Boxer cross type dog (the footage was dark). Wonder what happened?
  8. I don't understand how some people fit so many crates in their home! We have an average sized house but there is no way I could fit five crates in here. Even two is pushing it!
  9. My lot sleep in our room. Pia, Champa and Maisie sleep on beds on the floor while Toby (puppy) sleeps in a soft crate next to my bed. I have a baby gate on our doorway to stop them roaming (aka trashing) the house. Stevie (foster pup) sleeps in a crate in the family room. When its really hot though, I usually leave them outside at night because its cooler than our room.
  10. I will be thinking of you tomorrow xxx
  11. Can anyone help me get into tracking? I tried a few years ago via the club and it was not a pleasant experience. I have a blind GSD pup who I want to try tracking with but just not sure where to start. Even happy to just watch/help others so I can learn the basics. Thanks!
  12. I like them equally. I have four dogs and six cats, and they are all special for their own reasons. I find indoor cats much more friendly and affectionate than cats who are allowed to roam. My baby Ginger runs and leaps into my arms when I get home, tackles my legs, plays fetch, etc. What's not to love?
  13. Nelson has been found!! Not sure of details yet, but his owner is ecstatic!! Thanks for everyone's help.
  14. Oh damn, I was actually really excited to see a siamese-looking Poodle!
  15. If its not getting better, its time for a more thorough investigation such as skin scrapings or maybe a specialist.
  16. Well she has masteted the stairs now, up and down them like a pro with barely any encouragement. Still need to get her to stop toiletting on the deck though! I call her down to the grass every hour or so when I'm home, and she goes every time. I praise like mad and reward etc but she still toilets on the deck at other times. I have ordered a dog repellant so hopefully that will help!
  17. Why don't you test one of those collars on Ripley then, just to see if he responds to the zap?
  18. Did they say why they didn't collect it from the shelter?
  19. Gayle, my friend has a mini Foxie and they live on acreage. They bought an invisible fence system and fenced off about an acre of their land. So dog can romp around but not go past the boundaries he has been taught. Basically, the wire is laid under the ground (I think), the dog wears a special collar, and when it gets too close to the wire, it gets a beep then a zap. They very quickly learn where the boundaries are.
  20. Thanks so much cavNrott. happypaws, dog is missing from Bayswater (outer eastern suburbs) in Victoria.
  21. My mum's friend came home last night to find her home ransacked and her dog missing. He is a goregous black Labrador - described as an 'American' Labrador - apparently he is very tall and leggy. His name is Nelson and he is jet black and very friendly. Missing from Bayswater area. Council, shelters, vets, etc have all been contacted and posters are going up now. Can everyone please keep an eye out for him - she is devastated. Don't have any more details yet but will post more if I find out more.
  22. But there are also a lot of demanding clients who expect groomers to do unrealistic things or work miracles on dogs that have not been brushed in months (years even), never been clipped in their life, have the wrong coats, etc.
