All I am going to say on the subject is they all had plenty of warning, I would have had my animals elsewhere by the time the water hit. My Aunt was in cyclone Tracey and when she evacuated with her 6 kids the also took their small dog she wrapped it in a shawl kept her covered and pretended she was a baby. Because their was no way she was leaving her behind either.

I am currently clipping my shepherds off and am using Oster horseclippers as they dont get as hot as the dog ones. I use a size 10 blade, and the dogs dont mind either, I also do my cat with the same size blade.

My GSD's have their breed tattoo and a desex one, but I can tell you not all pound staff even bother to look in ears. And you would be surprised how many dont even know that sheppies , kelpies or vizslas are tattooed.

Good idea the letter and maybe offer your services to help out as well. Or maybe go and have another look as looks are decieving and it is only ones perception.

My old girl has been super confident not scared of anything not even fireworks actually everyone was scared of her she is aging she is scared of thunder and loud noises, but she spends 23 hours of a day inside on her bed .

Very cruel and heartless response Oakway. We KNOW our dogs are not human children but they are our 'family' none the less. Most on here view their dogs as their furKIDS and we ALL suffer the same grief in losing a beloved pet as we do a human relative. There is also NO TIME LIMIT on grief. Cruel, heartless, I don't think so. Cruel and heartless is when you lose your new baby son at 5 days of age. But life goes on and we live on. Does Yap think think they are are the only ones to lose a beloved dog. We all lose them but we still get on with our lives. Also what I said is the truth how do know that those words may be just the words to bring Yap out of this state. Those words stand a dog is not a child and Yap needs professional help. I have removed my post as reading further down I realize Yap is just heartbroken badly reading between the lines I think she needs to come on here with dog lovers and people who understand her pain and get full on support she needs t is cruel and heartless, I lost my son at 3 months of age another that was dear to me at 18 I also lost my 13 yo Abbey ROad and my grief was no different , I grieved my sons and I grieved my old dog who was part of our child family. Yap you grieve all you need to but please go and talk to someone as well. I talk to my dear departed ones all the time, time heals but never does it forget. I have a sick dog and I was told by someone I highly respect that there comes a time when enough is enough and you need to draw the line in the sand, Well for My girl there is still no line in the sand but it will get there one day now she is in her twilight years, and whilst I can afford it and she is painless the line can wait.

After serious thought and desexing my dogs I am going to sell my dog trailer as I no longer require it. It was a 6 berth ranger , and made into a 4 berth for extra room. It has a large water tank in the roof. I can have it taken to Townsville, free of charge.
