  4. I just bought a second hand one about 10 years ago and it gets used once sometimes twice a week sits out in the sun and never misses a beat, I dont see the sense in paying heaps when you can pick up 2nd hand ones for a couple of hundred. My friend that has 12 labs has an original old dark blue greyhound tub with the door in the side she bought for about 50 bucks, all labs get washed in it and it is still going strong.

  11. ANIMAL CARE AND PROTECTION ACT 2001 - SECT 25 25 Debarking operations (1) A person, other than a veterinary surgeon, must not perform an operation on a dog to prevent it from being able to bark or to reduce the volume of its bark (a debarking operation). Maximum penalty--300 penalty units or 1 year's imprisonment. (2) A veterinary surgeon must not perform a debarking operation on a dog unless the surgeon-- (a) reasonably considers the operation is in the interests of the dog's welfare; or (b) has been given a relevant nuisance abatement notice and the surgeon reasonably considers the operation is the only way to comply with the notice without destroying the dog; or © has been given an appropriate notice and the surgeon reasonably considers the only way to stop the dog's barking from being a nuisance, without destroying the dog, is to perform the operation. Maximum penalty--300 penalty units or 1 year's imprisonment. (3) For subsection (2)©, an appropriate notice means a notice signed by each owner of the dog asking the veterinary surgeon to perform the operation and stating each of the following-- (a) that, in the opinion of each owner, the dog's barking is a nuisance; (b) attempts have made to prevent the dog's barking from being a nuisance; © for each attempt-- (i) the nature of the attempt; and (ii) enough details of the attempt to allow the veterinary surgeon to form a view under subsection (2)©; (d) that each attempt has been unsuccessful. Example f an attempt-- Behavioural approaches taken in consultation with a veterinary surgeon or animal behaviour expert. (4) In this section-- bark includes cry, howl and yelp. nuisance, for barking, means interference with the reasonable comfort, peace or privacy of anyone. relevant nuisance abatement notice means the original, or a copy, of a notice as follows relating to the dog-- (a) a nuisance abatement notice under the Environmental Protection Act 1994 (an EPA notice); (b) a notice, however called, under a local law if the notice-- (i) complies, or substantially complies, with the requirements for an EPA notice; or (ii) has the same, or substantially the same, purpose as an EPA notice.5 QUEENSLAND
  12. Dogs normally make the rackett when the owners out, best thing is to leave a tape running and hear it when you return. Debarking saves dogs lives. Personally I dont like it but if was debarking or death I know which one I would choose. The Animal Care and Protection Act of 2001 permits surgical debarking in Queensland so long as a Veterinarian is satisfied that it is in the dog's best interests, an approriate notice has been issued about the dog's barking, and the Veterinarian considers other options have been reasonably exhausted. An ethical discussion is undertaken and it is argued that, for other options to be reasonably exhausted, an electrical stimulation anti-barking collar/s (amongst other treatments)should be tried before surgical debarking is undertaken. Such would minimise or possibly eliminate the need for surgical debarking.
  13. WOW what a great Breeder hope they never breed any more, cruel mongrels.
  14. They pee in their bowl to mark it and so no one will eat whats left, my male Vizslas used to do this
  15. Oliver does chuck chunders (GSD) on those foods except for the Bonnie working dog. Also dry food tends to go off in the heat. I had Oliver to the vet numerous times tested for numerous things put him on working dog and the little bit he eats is fine. He tends to dig all the meat out of it I have tried him on Hills, Eukanuba,Royal Canin specially for GSD's (the cats liked that) and now he is on the Bonie working dog. But I feed him a lot of briskett bones and chicken wings. He is also a very slow eater. Also GermanShepherds can have icky bellies. Add GSD to your title that will get the GSD people straight on to help you out. hope he gets over it
  16. Shilo Tina and Grandad may you all play together again. RIP

    Desexing.....

You can desex from about 8 weeks upwards ask your vet what they think, better off before the 1 st season because then getting cancer is next to nil in the nether regions. They also do not appear to get fat that is my experience anyway. Also I have a male who was desexed at 12 weeks and there is nothing wrong with him either and they get over it a lot quicker than older dogs. I just had Kim done at nearly 6years and she took ages to get back to being herself whereas the pup done at 12 weeks was back to normal the next morning. Talk to your vet and they would be the best ones to inform you of all possible outcomes.
  18. Mines not as much to brag as you lot because we dont have any fun stuff obedience agility etc here and it is a bit hard to train a dog with no one to train with. Our Achievements---- the top would be Elka getting 5 BIS and 3RIS and her championship. And Oliver getting his championship and actually beating Elka for a bob and getting his 1st group. And Kim for being just Kim, and keeping the other two in line.
  19. My friends bully bitch went the same but she paniked and the vet opened the dog up and out came a bath mat dont ya luv bullies
