Whohoo on a wonderfull win from the minor class for Kimissa Maverick for Maverick's breeders Mandy and Reg Clancy and for me, Mavericks new owner and handler. ;)

Terrible news for the owners on their Chi being stolen, hopefully with the description of the culprit they might be able to track him down. My thoughts are with you. Two years ago one of our powderpuffs was taken to with a pair of scissors at Adelaide Royal. A surveilance camera in the pavillion might of helped us find the culprit for that attack, we were told pretty much bad luck. We do need some security vision at the large shows, handbags and credit cards can be replaced, but you cant replace a loved dog.

Capanash, maybe a personal joke that I am not following? Royal Geelong Show The joke is that yes, its the 'Royal' Geelong Show, but there is nothing 'Royal' or prestigious about it. I won BOB there last year...woop-de-do LOL I wasnt exactly yelling that from any rooftops! Usually we have Victorian judges, sometimes we get some intertstaters, never any international judges. Proberly why the entries are so low there.

Ok Calm Me Dumb But What Does This Mean.....
Entourage replied to Jsk's topic in General Dog Discussion
Yep id say like that, just so working, non sporting and utility people all arnt cramming for space around the same ring. Its a good approach with larger dogs and large gazebos. -
At metropolitan shows no i dont think commitee members should be exhibiting, as there are plenty of other shows through out the year with little travel to do. In country areas where the commitee, secretary maybe showing their dogs and it is some distance to other shows and there isnt a show every weekend, then that is fine, i dont mind. But in saying that, you get to realise who is secretary of a particular show, know a particular person who is on commitee or will be stewarding at that show and who is judging, work out that yes a certain person will win, either the sec, commitee person or steward and they will win. Its hard finding this out AFTER you have travelled several hours for the show and then have them laugh in your face and confess that they had it in the bag all along. Its stinks, but when you know your win is honest and not swayed by who you knew or what you had to do with the club or whatever else, it is a great feeling and its heartwarming that your dog won on its own merits.

Quite true, Some have their powderpuffs looking like a old english sheepdogs. Grooming with hairless depends on if you have hairless whom you can clean up the day before the show or hairy hairless which needs shaving half an hour before judging and then another shave to get rid of the 5 O'Clock shadow before specials!

I bought a pair of Rivers sneakers with velcro on them, absolute rubbish, they kept undoing when i ran and i seen another exhibitor with the same shoes on, running around for BIS and one shoe comes flying off! She still won BIS though LOL but now i stick with slip ons that fit tight and have some grip on the bottom. Some surfaces are fine to run on like KCC Park indoors and Bulla indoors but at the Royal, running on ashphalt you can lose your grip.

I have found this with the cresteds, i have a better chance with the internationals because of non 'face judging' but in saying that i have come across an international judge who i beleive had never judged Cresteds before and she was from Canada. Many years ago when we were showing kelpies at an Australia day show, we had a Canadian judge and she asked me whether my male (who was dog CC winner) or the bitch CC winner was the best! being a gobsmacked 12 year old i answered with 'Both dogs are equal, your the judge, its your decision' So she give the BOB to the bitch! My mother asked me what the conversation was about and was fuming! luckily the rep on the day calmed my mum down. But ill always remember that!

Hi BBJ and Sway, Group 7 is the *ss end of the show and all the dogs that dont belong in groups 1-6, get chucked in group 7 LOL. Years ago Utillity and Non-Sporting were together, then the utillity group grew so big that they got sick of group 7 hangers on and dumped us on our own :-p But seriously, i have seen group 7 a number of times since moving back to group 1, has been on last of 2 or 3 groups on the day and i think to myself 'thank goodness im not in group 7 anymore or id be here all day'

It used to be at the Colac High School but it looks like, by the map, its now at Warrion. Go through Colac and turn right onto the Cororooke Road, go through Cororooke and Coragulac and next locality is Warrion. Just before getting into the town, there looks to be a Cricket oval on Glen Street, Warrion. Just looked on Google maps :-p
