  2. I vaccinated and microchipped my babies late (8 weeks) i just paid the extra $35 for 24 hour processing and $5 for express post, sent registration on tuesday, processed wednesday, received thursday and sent off entries thursday so hopfully the entries made it by fridays closing :-)
  3. I received mine yesterday :-) Im suprised there isnt more dogs entered, being there a few shows all together.
  4. Ive done the full glam suit with gumboots and done pretty well with them on! If the judge can wear them, i can too if im running around in mud and slush! Big NO-No's... Thongs or sandals, no open toed shoes at all. (seen judges excuse exhibitors from the ring for wearing sandals, even it it was 35 degrees) Skirts that are way too short or way too tight. (the length of your jacket should be the same length of your skirt, they should look equal)
  5. Think i seen this on a Crested breeders FB page? It give me a laugh :-)
  6. Where were you parked ? I will be down there early tomorrow running dogs so can have a look :). I did have a spare set at home so i could get the dogs off and get the trailer off the car! Was parked at the end of the pavillion, group 3/7 end, proberly have fallen off going over the speed humps. I am going to change the locks on the trailer soon as it has a different key for each of the four doors. Very annoying! Cheers for keeping any eye out for me :-)
  7. If anyone finds a set of keys for a dog trailer, 4 main black plastic and metal keys, with a blue tag and small keys for padlocks on the roadway/carpark at KCC Park today, please contact me! @ [email protected] I had no pockets, left the trailer keys on top of the dog trailer and took off without them! :-(
  8. I never received mine back for friday or saturday, but cheque has been cashed, so i guess im entered!
  9. The huge shawled dogs are here too. Recently i was at a show and overheard a conversation between an exhibitor with a newly imported hairless Crested and their friend. The exhibitor was complaining about the amount of hair it had and the friend replied 'well you are showing a coated dog there' Ive never seen a hairy faced crested being shown, both in hairless or puff. I have heard that there has been some shown in the past. I prefer the clipped and shaved look. Same for the ears on some dogs. If a crested has alot of hair and grows the fringing well then its looks lovely, but some i have, have very little hair on their ears, some bald and some whispy bits on the ends and it looks much tidier if cleaned up for a show.
  10. Definitely not what i was eluding to, you do get some correct coated puffs and some terrier coated puffs yes, should the terrier coats be shown? No. They are incorrect, thats why we have a standard. I have mixed feelings about whether they should be bred with also. Our first Crested was a terrier coat powderpuff and really i wished someone had of pulled us aside and said 'listen that dog isnt going to grow a coat' We did have some remarks like 'gee who has been scruffing him up?' He had a lovely temperament, was a great dog to show, behaved well in the ring and really showed his butt off, but the coat did never grow and we pet homed him. This was after id spent $300 on grooming products because i thought i was grooming him wrong. It wasnt until we had bought a powderpuff from different bloodlines that i realised that they had totally different coats as the second dog had the correct veil and undercoat and when matured it reached the ground. Those with whispy single coats that are patchy, may be quite bald in some areas are hairy hairless. Im not sure of the exhibitors frame of mind whether they think the dogs coat is going to get thicker or they dont believe they could have a hairless so hairy.
  11. Also BB, some breeders are actually trying to breed a decent PP to show. With myself the powderpuffs i have bred have been assessed equally to the hairless, but have failed in temperament, movement or some other reason to irk me not to go on showing them. If anything i give the powderpuffs more of a chance to prove themsleves than the hairless. Its a real shame sometimes to see people being placed with powderpuffs who like me have a real love of them, but unfortunately will never get anywhere because of the coat. Do i shut up and say nothing or say something and be deemed a nosey b**ch?
  12. Hi Rhonda, Both powderpuffs and hairless are geneticly the same dog. There has been in the past a few very nice powderpuffs that have been shown , before your time and some that are still shown in Australia with great success. They should never be placed in seperate classes, even though some judges are prejudicial towards the powderpuffs. The problem with powderpuffs is, and the same goes for hairless is that you have varying differences in coats in the powderpuffs and hairlessness in the hairless. There are those powderpuffs which have correct veil and double coat, but then there are those powderpuffs that are 'terrier coat' they look rather scruffy or fluffy, single coat and will never have the correct coat desired. I know as i have one here and they really arnt worth showing. Its through no fault of their own. With the hairless you can also have a varying degree of hairlessness, true hairless with very little cresting and body hair and then then very hairy 'hairy hairless' which is a hell of alot of work to prepare them for a show. So hairy in fact they need to have hair removal cream used on them. Those who dont use hair removal cream may shave but will end up with rash on the dog. Then of course you have those who have powderpuffs who in an attempt to fool judges, veet and shave their powderpuffs to have a chance of winning. It fools some, but the normal teeth on a powderpuff gives the dog away. Hairless should have forward pointing teeth. If you ever want any advice or want to have a chat, feel free to approach me at a show. I was once a newbie at Cresteds only a short time ago :-) I meant to say too that most people are not prepared to show a powderpuff, its some work to have a double coat to the ground. A magnificent sight to see, but they can still have a fight on their hands to be put up over the hairless at times. Rebecca

  17. It wasnt actually the KCC who changed their regulations, It was the agricultural societies who wanted to keep charging dog exhibitors to enter a shows grounds as well as for their vehicle... as well as pay an entry fee. The KCC worked with VASA (Victorian Agricultural Societies Association) and the many society affiliates who conducted dog shows at the same venue as their agricultural shows so that dog exhibitors were given a pass for themselves as well as for their vehicle. Some Societies were happy with the change and to keep a very main attraction at their show. Other societies did not give passes and hence lost the dog shows at their agricultural shows. For a couple of years in the 90's i was a VASA representative for dogs shows held at Agricultural shows in Victoria. At the time, it was most harmonious and as a an exhibitor myself at many agricultural shows at the time, i done my best to keep it that way.
  18. 2012 CONFORMATION - SCHEDULE OF JUDGING Link to Judging Schedule
  19. I know, if your not in it, you cant win it! thats my theory anyway. Absolutely ridiculous behavior and quite childish. Anyway...im not their psychologist LOL
  20. Thanks to the club who also had their own website with their schedule and address of the venue on it. I had left home without looking at the address (first time exhibitor there) So went on Google on my mobile, looked for Romsey kennel Club, found their website and the address for the show. Put that in my GPS and away i went :-)
  21. Many years ago when we titled a dog, we would leave that dog at home to show the next generation that we had kept for showing. No good entering a titled dog and keep flogging the dog out till they were sick of it or that it kept beating our younger dogs just on maturity. When there was a large show like the Australia Day shows used to be with 2000+ dogs and the Melb Royal, we would then bring the older dogs out. It wasn't just us that did that, others in the same breed did the same. Yes there are influences like petrol costs and people now getting their children involved in other things other. But its also not a family outing much anymore. Years ago you would see many families with 2-3 children turn up and they would all be involved in grooming the dogs and showing. Now its more singles, and couples, both straight and gay involved in showing dogs. Now with the grand champion title here, many are keeping on showing their older dogs, as well as young ones who may be already titled and will keep on showing in the knowledge they will have a good chance on showing till they get their grand (i included in that). Other exhibitors with dogs who quite well be good enough specimens to get their championship kept getting beaten and beaten, trying to dodge the people that win constantly or even calling their dogs absent when they see another exhibitor turning up to a show because they know they havnt got a chance in hell of winning. Years ago to... breeders kept their pick from a litter to go on with but there would be other puppies in the litter with just as much promise which might not be kept because of lack of room rather than quality and these would be found homes that people would show these puppies, hence bringing new people to the dog world. Now breeders are so worried of guarding their lines or worried about being beaten by a dog which they may of bred. They don't see a dog being shown they have bred and win and think to themselves 'i bred that dog and im proud of it' its more of 'i bred that dog and i cant believe i sold it to someone who is now beating me with it' Peoples attitudes have changed, its all about winning and not about the good for the betterment of the breed.
  22. Group 1 BIG - Chinese Crested (my girl Ch. Entourage Professional Widow) RUBIG - Havanese (Fleming)
  23. The benching at Adelaide may be fine for larger dogs, but with Toy dogs.. we were penned away from public which is good, but hardly any room to put trolleys or even a chair to sit on. I had two dogs entered, one penned on top of the other so i had about one and half foot wide in front of my pens to park my trolley and grooming box etc. Luckily the other exhibitors were much in the same boat and we just squished together. The surface in the rings was fine but as you ran around, it was a little uneven at times and uneven sounding. Parking and marshalling is excellent. I arrived just after 8am and there was still a fair amount of parking there. Good for when you are by yourself.
