That would be wonderful...I am in Rosanna/Heidelberg but don't mind travelling a little to sort this problem out. I can tell Ollie is a bit out of sorts....even tho he loves having Penny around I think he is taking some time to adjust. This might sounds crazy but it really upsets me too

Thanks for the reply Kavik. The dogs are all different that he has had a go at. Penny is always in close proximity. I think I will get someone to help me. I am concerned that it will become a problem that I can't fix. I am not very experienced with dogs so I definately don't want an out of hand situation. So my next question is who do I go to. Is it simply a training issue? Can anyone recommend someone in Melbourne?

Hello everyone, I need some help! My 3 year old rescue Ollie has started showing signs of aggression over the past 3 weeks. This all started about 3 weeks after we bought home a second rescue Penny. Ollie and Penny loooovvveee each other. From that perspective it has been a great decision. Ollie has started getting very aggressive with other dogs tho'. We go to an off lead park and both Penny and Ollie have an absolute ball but on three occasions we have come across a single dog and Ollie has got very aggressive/vicious with the other dog (3 different dogs!). I have had to physicall pick him up and carry him off - could he be protecting Penny? He has also started to get aggressive around his bones etc and yesterday when he and Penny were sitting on my lap he started to growl at her. I am not sure how to go about this. I think the answer for the bones and Penny is to just tell him NO when growls. What do I do about the dogs at the park. I would like to still let him off the lead and deal with the behaviour rather than just keep him on the lead all the time. I hope some one out there can help me out....Thank you

This may or may not be strange...what do you think? We adopted Ollie from a shelter about 5months ago. He settled in really well. We had a couple of little weeing accidents but nothing more than you would expect with a dog that finds himself in a new environment. About three weeks ago we bought Penny home, she is also a shelter dog and she has settled in really well. Ollie loves her, although every now and then he behaves a bit silly and a bit put out by Penny but overall I think it has been really positive for Ollie. Anyway - to the point of the post. Over the last week or so we have had two weeing incidents with Ollie. He has been weeing in the house. (After the first one I thought it was Penny but now have confirmed it was Ollie!) Aah but that is not all - this morning I heard him wee in the laundry and then go out the doggie door and do a poo on the paving! It was a big wee too, so I'd say he was hanging on for a while.....does this sound strange to anyone or do you think its just settling in issues? Both times he has done it, it almost seems that he is on his way out but doesnt quite make it. My thinking is that maybe he is doesnt want to leave sight of Penny or me, for fear of 'missing out' and then perhaps leaves it too late! Am hoping he doesnt make a habit of it

I do call him in when I think he is wandering off too far. Penny and Ollie are good for getting on the leash - they know they will get a treat! The voice thing is interesting tho' - I get a bit panicky and my darling partner tells me I have a bit of a high pitched shrill...so I guess its not surprising Ollie doesnt come running straight to me

Cosmolo - we use liver treats when we are at the park. I guess when he doesnt normally come, I call him perhaps a couple of times. If he still doesnt come I tend to go after him because I am concerned I will lose sight of him. On the lead he is ok, he will pull away if there is something he wants to see/sniff. Only very occassionally will he dig in tho' he generally gives up when i tug on the lead. He likes a squeeky toy but we have tried that and that only lasts for one or two tweeks!

Thanks for all the great advice. I think I will stay away from the chocolate tho'! You know I think the comment about him 'having a choice' is right on the money. When I call him he actually stops and looks at me..its almost as if he is deciding what the better option is. I also avoid the areas where I know he will want to wander so that helps but it is something I would like to overcome...especially the rolling in dog poop Well I now have some techniques to try....I will have to find some new tasty treats to have something special up my sleeve

Hello everyone I am new and need some help. I have a 3 year old rescue dog - Jack Russell X. He is a lovely little guy with loads of personality. For a dog that has had much training he is a nice natured well behaved little fellow...well generally! We have a great off-lead park near where I live. Its an old converted golf course. The dogs love it, lots of trees and adventures for them. Ollie generally comes when he is called however when he gets really distracted, like when he is rolling in something dead or sniffing around a house which front onto the park, he suddenly falls deaf and will not come when called. My concern, especially, with the houses is that he will wander somewhere I can't find him or worse, end up on the road. How do I get him to come to me everytime I call him? The treats just don't seem to be enough enticement anymore. Thanks
