Dogs Behaviour Around People With Disabilities Or Illness'
teekay replied to Oscar (AmBull)'s topic in General Dog Discussion
I haven't got any stories to add but wanted to say thank you for this thread. What lovely heartwarming stories. -
So good to hear Luki is improving. Hope it continues and he is home with you soon. My heart goes out the poor family of the black and white pup. Not what you envision when you pick up your new pup from the pound. Saying prayers for both of them. Poor angels.

Oh Poor little darling. RIP Beam
-
Oh How sad, she looked adorable. My thoughts are with you. It's so hard when it's so sudden. Run free Charm
-
I hope little Beam made it through the night and is recovering. What an awful situation for you to have been in LC. ((hugs)) to you. Keeping everything crossed for the pup.

Gosh how fast have those 2 weeks gone. Mya is settling in nicely. She and Jenna appear to be getting on fine. Jenna keeps taking her toys to Mya and dropping them on her head. It's hilarious. They have had a few tussles but it all seems to be play based. I've never had 2 dogs before so it was a bit hard at first, to tell if they were fighting or playing, but they each come back for more and there are no yelps or menacing growls involved, so I think it's all good. We had a dreadful scare the first week. We'd only had Mya about 4 days and she manged to climb the back fence and escape. She was having a wonderful time chasing the farmer's cows in the field behind us while we tried to catch her. Fortunately the flooding around us helped, she marooned herself on this lump of ground and hubby waded nearly waist deep in water to get her. Scary scary times. The farmer had sent someone to go and get his gun so not something I want to repeat. We have erected a more secure fence but I am paranoid now and keep looking at my 6ft fences thinking "she could get over that if she really wanted to". She just so springy when she gets excited. I've never seen a dog jump as high and as far as Mya. We are looking into the 'invisible fences' at the moment. Anything to keep her safe. She was a bit reluctant to eat at first but is now eating much better. She lost a little bit of weight in the first week but has put it back on now. :D She is a pleasure to walk, unfortunately my Jenna aka 'fluffy bum' does have a tendency to get a bit excited when I walk them together but mostly it's all good. It's been so wet up here lately but I have taken them out no matter the weather, had a good few soakings but at least it hasn't been baking hot. Unfortunately the garden is a bit flooded and 2 white dogs and a muddy garden isn't much fun LOL I took Mya for her first trip to the beach 2 days ago. She was a bit unsure to begin with and was pulling away each time a wave came in but after a while she was pulling to go in to the waves so i think it was a hit. Can't wait to go again but it's sooooo windy here at the moment I think the ocean might be a bit wild. I haven't got round to taking too many photos but here is one I took today EEEK look at that grass!!!

Ohhh Just read this K9angel. I really hope the little angel makes it. What a sorry looking little one. He looks like her would be gorgeous with a bit of TLC. Will be saying my prayers for him tonight. What a day for you (((HUGS)))

I haven't bothered with a command for poo as I don't really expect Jenna to do that on command but we also use "go toilet" for No 1s

Wanted: Foster Carer Or Rescue For Huskies X 3
teekay replied to k9angel's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
I'm keeping everything crossed for Bailey, K9angel. He has the same look about him as Mya. I'd never seen a white husky before Mya and now they seem to be turning up all over the place. So pleased Mya's run is now being put to good use with Jasmine and Alaska. They look so cuddly. -
Just wanted to add to this thread. I was relocating a noisy green tree frog last night. I wet my hands picked him up, had a look at him 'cos I think they're lovely, then ran across the road to put him in some bushland. Suddenly my eye starting stinging like hell. It must have been the frog. There was absolutely nothing else it could have been. Has anyone else ever heard of them squirting toxin. My eye is a bit better today after copious flushings with water and Systane. It's still a bit sore and red but on the mend I think.

I hope your pup is better today. It is a worry when they are so young. We also had a similar problem with Jenna when we first got her. She had runny poos for at least a week and we were feeding her the same food as she was used to. I think it was the stress of leaving littermates, and she came to us on a flight which would not have helped matters. Eventually the vet gave us some pink medicine. Nasty smelling stuff - smells like muscle rub but did the trick. Sorry I can't remember what it was called. I'm not really much help am I?

Just Had To Post This..
teekay replied to Staff'n'Toller's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Now That is funny. Isn't he just adorable. His owner is obviously a good sport too. -
Awwww bless. She'll probably still be doing it when the pups here. My youngest was always obsessed with my Labrador's bed when he was little. There was just enough room for the 2 of them in there.

Happy Birthday Ivan Stunning pictures as ever Ruthless. What a gorgeous boy
-
Happy 1st Birthday Darcy. Handsome fella you've got there. He looks so hugable
-
I have definitely got to get some of this stuff. Sounds great. Like the OP when we moved out of our last house and then went back to clean it the next day. It was then I realised how much it smelled. Yuck! I do not want my new house to go the same way so I'm off to the website. Thanks

This is absolutely shocking and so worrying to think you try and do everything right and still lose your dog. Just awful
-
So sad, those poor poor dogs
-
Fantastic story. We need more of these good news dog stories, makes a nice change from the dog bite ones that grab the headlines all too frequently
-
Jenna is short for Genevieve which means 'White Spirit, white wave". Chosen for obvious reasons
-
Fabulous photos. thanks for sharing, brought a smile to my face.

Thanks Guys. Some interesting stuff there. And I will talk directly to K9angel too. I'm praying it's not raining Friday so we can take our time with introductions at the local park area, mind you I don't want it sunny either - too hot. Ok I'll put my order in for overcast with a slight breeze, perfect ;)
