  1. I was afraid it was. What makes you think it has fed for 2 days? I've just measured it. It was 3mm wide and 4mm long, does that still fit with the 2 days theory?
  2. Could someone please help me identify this tick I took off Jenna tonight. She is not showing any symptoms of hind leg weakness or anything atm. Vet says just keep an eye on her. Won't get much sleep tonight.
  3. Thanks for posting. I've just ordered 2, wasn't sure at first but then after looking on ebay at what they sell for I decided if I didn't use them I could sell them on there. Probably even make a profit
  4. Yes, to a certain extent, especially with her toys. If I throw a ball or toy for Jenna now she runs to get it then takes it straight over to Mya to try to get her to play, (which she rarely does). Stoopid dog, if she brought it back to me i would play with her. I guess this is why people say not to get two puppies at the same time as they form a stronger bond than they have with you. I try to make time to play with Jenna when Mya is locked inside, she's back to her old self then. Like you, I am so happy that they get on so well and have each other for company but sometimes get a bit peeved when she choses Mya over me.
  5. Sorry I should have added he's only 10 months so still on puppy amounts. Ah, that makes more sense! I would have to say the best food I have found that packs the most nutrition into the smallest amount would be EVO. Am still hoping that one day it will be available through shops other than the current chain of stores that sell it. Just wanted to second what Dobesrock said, Innova Evo is a high protein, no grain food but I cannot bring myself to buy it because of the shops which sell it. Very unfortunate
  6. Sorry, couldn't really let this go without saying something. On the 'other' forum, not only were you warned off BYB and pet shops, you were also advised to seek out a responsible breeder, to expect to meet the puppy's parents and to steer clear of designer cross breeds. People did, understandably, get a little upset when you then announced you had got a Cavalier X Cavoodle from a lady and didn't get to see any parents and really didn't appear to really know where the pup had come from. With regard to members saying she was full of worms and had anal gland problems, these were replies based on your posts about Poppy scooting her bottom alot. They were just ideas of what could be wrong with her. I, sadly, bought my Jenna from what I suspect is a puppy farm, before I knew better. I was not given a hard time on the other forum when I introduced her as people do understand not everyone knows what a puppy farm is. The problem was, you asked for advice and then proceeded to ignore it.
  7. I am a relative "newb" to Dol but didn't want to let that stop me from wishing you a continued recovery in both body and spirit. You have been through such an ordeal that most of us can barely begin to imagine in our worst nightmares, but your posts have still shown such wisdom and warm heartedness I am humbled. if only there were more people like you the world would a much friendlier and nicer place to live. There are so many Dolers out there sending you positive vibes, the poor few souls who do not wish you well are so completely drowned out. Glad to hear you pay them no mind, they are not worth it.
  8. Thanks Steve, that is what I thought. These people are obviously members but not registered breeders and the Office of Fair trading do not understand the difference.
  9. But it only says she is (well another family member is) a "Financial Member" nothing about a breeders Prefix. Bear in mid this Breeder has numerous Designer Crossbreeds for sale.
  10. Thanks Lab lady, I just found the info on the Dogs NSW site FAQ page but the bit that still confuses me is where they say "membership allows her to sell pure bred Scottish Terriers" ?????????
  11. OK, I'm a little confused. I will try to give a 'quick' overview of my situation. As some of you know I abhor the 'breeders' where I got Jenna (GR xSamoyed). When I first discovered their website they stated they were 'registered Professional Breeders with the NSW Canine Associations." I exchanged many e-mails with them when I discovered the potential problems with Jenna's hips and one of the things I kept asking them for, was proof of this statement. I continually asked them for a prefix which they refused to give me and they removed the claim from their website. I have subsequently reported them to the Office of Fair Trading sending copies of all e-mails we exchanged, some of which were really nasty on the 'breeders' part. Today I received a letter from the OFT. In the letter it states that the breeder is a member of Dogs NSW, membership No. xxxxxxxxxxx and that membership allows her to sell pure bred Scottish Terriers This is where I get a bit confused. Does being a "member" mean she is a "registered Breeder" or does it just mean she pays a membership fee, or is there even a difference? I do not know how Dog NSW works. Can anyone become a "member"? I did e-mail Dogs NSW to check the information and also told them about the many crossbreeds they are selling and received the following reply: Ms xxxxxxx is not a financial member of DOGS NSW. Another family member is and Dogs NSW is currently investigating the matter of cross bred dogs being offered for sale on this website. There is probably not much more I can do. I hope I have made life a little more difficult for her at least. Any thoughts?
  12. Apple seeds contain cyanide. While a few seeds will probably not cause a problem, the effects can be cumulative so best not to give the cores too often. Also do not give cherry pits, peach pits, pear pips, plum pits, or apricot pits for the same reason.
  13. Wow, just spent the last hour or so catching up with the news. First I smiled, so pleased to see you well enough to post Jed Then I cried, such gorgeous pictures of wonderful dogs lost way too soon Then I cried some more, a beautiful poem and fitting tribute to those doggie souls lost. Take care Jed, I just can't begin to imagine what you are going through and so pleased that this wonderful community can help in whatever small way it can. Sending you continued get well vibes and gentle cyber hugs and licks from my 2 fluffs. :D
  14. I cannot honestly believe you asked that question.
  15. Excellent post, i agree completely. I have nothing but respect for responsible registered breeders but do believe there are responsible cross breeders out there. Unfortunately they are very few and far between, which is the problem. I bought Jenna from what I now realise was probably a puppy farm. I feel terrible about it and angry too. She is the most gorgeous, stunning, good natured, sweet dog and I was thinking the other day. If, god forbid, anything should happen to her I would dearly love another GR x Samoyed, like her. I wouldn't be able to, though, as the only places that seem to have this crossbreed appear to be puppy farms. If only puppy farms could be outlawed, pet shops banned from selling live animals and more regulation of breeding and owning dogs, brought into place. Maybe, just maybe crossbreeds could be bred responsibly and people would have more choice. I know I'm probably hoping for a miracle but I can dream Oh and slightly OT but I think a big reason why people buy crosses and 'pure' from pet shops, internet, Trading post etc is because it's 'easy'. I think the process of contacting a registered breeder and being 'vetted' to buy a puppy does put alot of people off. I'm not saying it's wrong to vet potential owners, not at all, but it will put off some people and they turn to the more readily available pups.
  16. Stay strong Jed, praying for you every day. Another candle re-lit
  17. Jenna is a stunner - look at those loooonnnnng legs. And going totally off topic (but still about beautiful dogs ), I'm glad you didn't know any better when you got Jenna because if you hadn't have had her, you probably wouldn't have adopted Mya . You know, I hadn't thought of it that way, but you are so right MM, I probably wouldn't. Everything happens for a reason eh?
  18. Stunning pups, absolutely gorgeous. I Luuuuuvre the tri colour. Not that long ago someone asked me if Jenna was a white Border Collie. At the time I thought the man was a bit daft but seeing these pictures maybe he wasn't so daft after all. Just another thing I have learned on DOL. Here's Jenna and she is Border Collie size. She's a GR x Samoyed (for those that don't know me, I got her before I knew better.)
  19. Once again, words fail me. So much sadness. it's hard to comprehend, RIP Magnus, what a wonderful life you had, watch over your Mum. Sending healing thoughts for Jane, for todays surgery and her long road to recovery, physical and emotional.
  20. Avatar changed, candle lit, many many prayers continue to be said. Keep strong Jed
  21. OMG I've only just read all this. Words fail me As many others have said, well done everyone helping out, DOL is a very very special place, and you are very special people. I feel honoured to be part of this fantastic community There will be one more praying for Jed and the surviving animals, especially Magnus. All our combined prayers HAVE to make a difference, surely. to eveyrone involved.
  22. The original article came from the UK (Daily Mail) and they stated the weights were 18lbs and 40lbs. Converted, I think this is where the Australian article got their numbers from. Definitely not right. My guess is the original article should have been in Kgs. ie 40kg and 18kg, sounds more likely eh? Although 18kg is still a smallish GR, i would think.
  23. Canon EOS 5D mark II. He borrowed a Canon EF 70-200mm F2.8L usm lens which I think is what makes the pictures so clear. Now he wants to buy one but I think they're $1500
