I know reverse sneezing is pretty common and my husky does it fairly frequently, no problem. Just wanted to ask if people thought there could be a reason why Jenna would have suddenly started doing this too. Jenna is 3 years old now and I can not ever remember her having a reverse sneezing attack until yesterday. It was quite a long one too. Really freaked out the other dogs. She has had a couple of bouts since yesterday morning, but not nearly as long. Otherwise she seems fine. I just wondered if anyone else's dog had suddenly developed this.

Oh No Owey, how awful for you and your family. Poor little man My labrador, Holly, died prematurely of a neurological condition which meant she slowly lost the use of her legs so I know how distressing it is to watch. Thinking of you all.

Scourban - Causing Constipation After Diarrhea
teekay replied to giraffez's topic in General Dog Discussion
Has he actually strained to go and not produced anything or not even tried to go? I do find it can take a while for my dogs to produce a poo after a bout of diarrhoea, especially while they are still on small meals of rice/chicken. If he is bright and alert I wouldn't be overly concerned yet. Maybe give the vets a quick call if you're worried. -
Me too EI. had a bit of a giggle

What Breed? - Shelter Dog

Oh what a beautiful boy. Keeping everything crossed that he is just waiting for the temp test. Good luck. Will watch this thread with interest -
I haven't re introduced the BH to Luka, he is enjoying the Nutro and doing well so I am reluctant to try the BH again but I have changed Mya over to the BH (both the big dogs have been on Uncle Albers for ages but Mya tends to get fed up with the same food and a change seems to increase her appetite) and she is fine on it. Maybe it was the lamb content that didn't agree with Luka after all.

You could try a probiotic. When Luka had the runs the vet gave him Poly-aid plus which I gave him for a few days. Not sure whether it was that that did the trick but might be worth a try. I think you can use the innerhealth plus too but not sure how much you would give. Hope he improves soon. If you are still concerned, though, I would pop him down the vets.

You haven't recently started a new pack of BH have you? I ask because my boy was fine on BH but started having problems. I couldn't understand it but some people on the other thread have had problems when stating a new pack. I still don't know if this is the case with Luka as I haven't reintroduced the BH yet. He is on Nutro for the moment. I always fast for 24 hours, then start with plain boiled chicken and rice and once poos have firmed up, go back to kibble. Sometimes the change back to kibble can start things again. If so, I will return to the chicken/rice then reintroduce the kibble much slower. Just add a little to the chicken/rice and gradually increase until back to normal. Hope he gets better soon

Just read these last few posts with great interest. I hadn't really put 2 and 2 together before, but Luka's tummy troubles did start when we started a new bag of BH. He'd been fine for about 4 weeks on a previous bag, then suddenly started with intermittent really runny poos. I couldn't work it out at the time, never thought about the fact it was a new bag, but he is doing fine since we changed to a different food. I thought it may have been the lamb content but given he was fine for 4 weeks that doesn't really make sense. I still have the big bag in the pantry as I want to try him again but atm I just want him to be stable and have a healthy weight gain. I may give it a go with Jenna, she usually has a cast iron stomach and can eat anything so it would be interesting to see how she goes on it.

I think I like the first one the best except for the eyes. You cannot see any detail like you can in the 2nd and 3rd.

So I know it's not a good idea for dogs to excerices just before or after eating, so why is my 3 always want to tear round the garden like lunatics just after food? Isn't nature supposed to tell them not to do this? Aren't they supposed to want to laze around and sleep off a full tummy? Don't think my 3 have read the manual

This is madness. I am so appalled. Those poor poor people. Things need to change. I hope there is a massive outcry over this. This is not justice, it's barbaric. I've typed and deleted, typed and deleted. Just can't express what I'm feeling

Disappointed. Luka has just been out and done a really runny poo again. Can't understand what is going on. It seems like the morning poos are ok but as the day wears on they get runnier and runnier. He is due for his 3 rd vaccs on Tuesday so will have a chat with the vet. Am going to give him chicken and rice tonight and tomorrow and see what the vet says on Tuesday. May get a small bag of some chicken based kibble as well but if it was the BH wouldn''t all of his poos be sloppy? Grrrrr I'm so frustrated, I hate not knowing what is going on.

No he was on Supercoat but we were getting lots of poos on that and wanted to change over to something of better quality. As I said though, he had been on BH for quite a few weeks with no problems so I am doubting it's the food itself. Treats have been Happy Paws Training treats. Again, he has had these for weeks and has been fine. Interesting about the bird poo. That is a possibility. We have lots of birds walking around on our lawn, especially Plovers, so it is possible he has been eating some of that. I have actually continued with the BH today as this morning's poo was fine. He has done another since and alls good so far. It's raining here today so he has been inside mostly. So no access to bird poo. We will see how the rest of the day goes. Thanks for the input. :)

Thanks Dogmad, will go and get some pumpkin and give that a try. Oddly, this morning's poo is fine. Not sure whether to do the chicken and rice thing or not now

Luka, our Aussie Shepherd pup, is nearly 16 weeks now and is a delight. Over the last week though he has had a few tummy troubles. We have been feeding Black Hawk holistic morning and evening, with chicken necks most days for a light lunch. This has been his diet for the last 3ish weeks, no problem. Last week he started doing really sloppy poos so, to begin with, I dropped the chicken necks. Still sloppy so decided to give plain boiled chicken and rice for a day. All seemed ok so next day went back to Black Hawk, but think I didn't give him long enough on the chicken/rice so his poos went really sloppy and one was even worse, really liquid. Back to chicken and rice and I waited unitl I had got a good few solid poos out of him. Yesterday he had chicken/rice for brekkie. I re introduced a bit of black hawk for lunch and chicken/rice for tea. No problems, Nice healthy poos yesterday and this morning, so today I went back to giving him Black Hawk for all his meals (didn't want to risk ckn necks yet). Tonight he has just done another sloppy poo. Should I have kept up with the chicken and rice longer? I'm thinking maybe I should give him chicken/rice for a day then day 2 chicken/rice for brekkie and tea with a bit of black hawk for lunch. If all's good, day 3 chicken/ rice for brekkie. Black hawk for lunch and dinner and day4 back to all black Hawk. Is this a good plan? Any other suggestions? I really hope it's not the black Hawk. I like it as it is a small kibble and good quality one without being too expensive. He was fine on it for a good few weeks so hopefully it's not that. He is due to be wormed next week, don't know if that is relevant. He isn't a poo eater or anything like that. Oh and he is absolutely fine in himself. Lively, playful, great appetite, still putting weight on. And isn't doing lots of poos, same amount as normal (3 a day) just gooey. Thanks for any advice. :)

Fantastic photos and very very jealous. I think my two would love the snow. My old Lab used to love it when it snowed in England, but she would eat so much of it she would be peeing all day

Just looked at that link Wuffles, thanks for that. Here is a pic of what Luka's ear is like most of the time at the moment. It looks like the second 'correct' standard but presumably both ears are supposed to be the same. :D
-
That's interesting Wuffles, I was going to post in the Aussie thread because I was wondering if I should do anything about it. I've heard of people taping ears to make them stand up but not to keep them down. What kind of tape do you use, do you know. He's so fluffy, how would it stick? ETA Have asked in the Aussie thread :)

They can't decide what they want to do lol. They're up (ok, admittedly he was running - I cheated :) ) One up one down Almost up or is it almost down :D Just lol

RIP little Cookie, you touched so many lives in your short time on Earth. Run free little one

Oh no Rach that's just awful, bloody awful. Poor Cookie, as others have said, at least she knew love in the end. Massive hugs to you and your family Rach, you went above and beyond and take solace in the fact you did everything you possibly could for Cookie including holding her to the very end. Run free beautiful Cookie
