I agree Tralee, stunning photo tlc. :)

Here's my first attempt. It wasn't taken at an ideal time of day but it's a start :)

Sounds like my Husky. I fed him a lamb heart, he licked the blood off it, sat by it for an hour or so then decided to eat it. Yep mine too. Mya does exactly this with her meaty bones.

I had a typical Lab who would pretty much anything, including 18 mince pies and three quarters of a tub of guinea pig food (not at the same time  ) Jenna - Samoyed x GR, is a guts Luka - Aussie Shepherd, is a guts (including dirt it turns out, as people in the Aussie sub forum have recently found out ) Mya - Husky, is a very picky eater I think they all follow the perceived norm for their breeds.

At times like this we need a like button :) Well said Aphra -
Thanks for the welcome Snook. I adore your photos of Justice. They are so clear and vibrant. Just finished the Understanding Exposure today, are there any other books people would recommend? So time to put all the knowledge into practice. I've been out messing around with exposures today. Good fun. Really need a new computer though, takes aaaaaaages to upload images. Santa? Pleeeeease? (If I can wait that long)

I agree with Pers. Be very careful with your timing. You actually inadvertently punished her for doing what you wanted her to do. You wanted her to come to you, she didn't at first, which isn't ideal I know, but when she did, you punished her. You state she is not terribly obedient so should probably not be off lead the the park. You need to work on her recall and for the time being keep her on a leash or long line if you want to give her some freedom.

I think most, if not all, of the comments you refer to, came after she had had her hissy fit and left. Her second post made it VERY clear she was not open to any discussion on the vaccination issue as she had spent many many hours on the net researching. Never mind the many many YEARS of experience of some of the people on here, their opinion counted for nothing, her mind was made up.

Ok This is my first post in the photo thread. I have been lurking and admiring everyone's photos. Your beautiful photos seem to have ignited something in me so, to begin with, I have borrowed a copy of Understanding Exposure from the library so at least I know what ISO, aperture and shutter speed is lol. Lots to learn but here's one i took today and I thought it 'stood out'.

Yep I saw this too. Will watch with interest -
Added to this, if he is not fully emptying his bladder, I find this can be sometimes caused by owners praising their dogs the second they start peeing. What I ensure i do when teaching my pups to empty on command is say the command, then wait, do not stare them down, just check peripherally, then ensure I am dead still and quiet whilst they are eliminating. Only praise and big fuss once they are finished. if you praise too early, they stop and come running for treat or going back indoors. If you are not doing this, give it a try perhaps. Personally I would be crating when inside or certainly only allowing the dog a small area unless 100% fully supervised (as in when you can and will see the dog showing signs of being about to pee and know you can stop it in time) for a while until the issue is sorted. Good luck. Very good point Dyzney, I was guilty of this with Luka at first, and he would come inside and go again. I soon learned to do as you say and wait till he had finished before the praise.

This is what the OP stated I think it is perfectly reasonable for people to suggest she looks for a new vet. The one she is currently seeing, appears to know absolutely nothing about a dog's digestive system. The points you make are relevant to the greater discussion of feeding raw (and have been mentioned already) but are not directly related to the original question.

There did seem to be an over abundance of blue eyes. I would guess that was intentional as I'm sure blue eyes are trendy. Never seen blue eyes in a Tri before but I'm new to the whole Aussie world anyway. I must say the red tri looks stunning but you can only see her face. Does anone know how they are breeding the minis? Did they just select the smaller Aussie and breed from them, or are they actually crossed with something to make them smaller? It is hard to get an indication of size from the pics on the website. I'd like to see one next to a standard Aussie.

Bloody ticks. I hate them. Here are a couple of pictures of a paralysis tick I took off Jenna a couple of years ago. I reckon, by it's size, it had been on there about 2 days. Kept a very close eye on Jenna but, thankfully, she was fine. As you can see very different to the tick you took off your dog. It would say it was a bush tick.

Oh my, she is just gorgeous. Looking forward to hearing more about her as she grows up. I know very little about Shibas but my daughter has loved them forever and insists she wants one when she is older.(You may possibly hear her squeals when I show her this thread :D ) I have always been under the impression that they could be a more challenging breed, so it will be very interesting to hear about Cinder's adventures.

Lovely to read about your 'little man' Ms Dani. Hope it is helping you heal. Lots and lots of
-
MsDani, there are no words to ease your pain. I'm so sorry these decisions have to be made. I'm so sorry we can't have our dogs with us for all our lives but know that our memories will be. once again. I wish there was more I could do, wish there was some way to let you know it will be alright. You will get through this and there will be a time when you can look back at the happy memories. take care of yourself and your partner
-
Just MsDani. I can't say anything to make it easier but I am thinking of you. Please be kind to yourself. You love your dog immensely, what dog could possibly ask for more?
-
Oh my heart goes out to you MsDani, this brings back so many memories of having to make this decision for my 5 year old Lab. How do you ever know the time is right? TBH I don't think you do, but you have to make the decision anyway. As a few have said on here, a few days or even months too soon is better than too late. I remember I would go to bed every night fearing the morning. Fearing Holly had died in the night and fearing she hadn't. I so didn't want to have to make the decision. But we did and on the morning she was booked to go to the vets my OH took her for a gentle walk on the beach and then took her to the vets. I was too much of a coward to be there, I wish I had been though, for her and my OH. It hurt like hell when she'd gone but we knew deep down it was right thing to do and given time, the pain fades but the memories remain. I still cry when I think of Holly but they are sort of happy tears for the wonderful memories we have of her, there were many more good times than bad. Hold on to those.

Hope your boy is feeling better today. Just wanted to add. Sometimes when they are 'in the position' for a while it doesn't mean they are constipated, it can mean they are having tummy pains and know they need to go some more. Bit like when we get the runs, we know from the pain that there's more to come.

Glad to hear Bailey is continuing to improve. Loved the video, he looks like such a happy man :D

I think I would freak out if I suddenly came across two disembodied heads staring at me. Sounds like a Gus had a perfectly normal reaction to me
-
What a darling, he is. Hope he has a speedy recovery. Will keep checking for updates. And feel free to post plenty more photos of Bailey :D

So, don't all council's provide the free dogs bags? If not, cudos to Sushine Coast Council (for a change  ). There are plenty of free dispensers all over the place here. Two on the estate where I live ( about 400 houses), they are occasionally empty but not for long. It was one of the things I thought was totally awesome when we frist emmigrated here from the UK. That and free parking by the beach :D

I swear Luka would do that given half a chance. He's always there trying to lick stuff when I'm loading the dishwasher.
