Thanks for the feedback on the bee shot. :) Glad I had been slack with letting the clover grow in my lawn now  I'm sure you'll get the shot you want Gapvic. Looking forward to seeing it :)

Not me Gapvic, very intrigued now :-)

Awwwwww what a cutie pie Bluey :) My first attempt at bees. Those little buggers just don't keep still  I didn't get stung though, so I'll call it a success 34/52 bee by teejkay1, on Flickr

Thanks BC. I sometimes think it's more luck than judgement but thank you anyway :D

Absolutely Gapvic, I am loving the fact that this thread does make me get up and go out and shoot something. I love having somewhere to share my efforts, other than FB. :D Hi LFF. It was taken on a Canon 5D II, 24-70mm canon lens at 70mm with a magnification (close up +4) filter, because I can't afford a macro just yet :) I did edit it slightly, just increased the contrast, decreased the vibrance, because I like the, almost black and white but not quite, effect :) , and increased the pink tint a little. :D

Seems to be getting fewer in here. Must admit I've been finding it hard to get any inspiration/motivation to take shots lately. After a few dreary rainy days here on the Sunny  coast the sun has made a reappearance today and I thought I would get out and try and photograph some of the flowers in my garden. Here is my lime tree flowers and a teeny tiny lime :D 33/52 Lime tree flowers by teejkay1, on Flickr

Exercising Reactive Dogs Thread

Bloody hell Snook, you and Justice are not having much luck lately are you? How was Justice while all this was going on? I don't know how you feel about the encounter now but if it was me I would still be seething. I'm not good at confrontation but I do like to write things down. Do you think it would be worth writing down what happened and how it could affect Justice ( and any other nervous/reactive dog passing by) and maybe popping it in the postbox? Probably won't make any difference but it may help to get it off your chest and maybe, just maybe, they will think twice before they let their 'friendly' dog wander in the street. I swear to God, people who have 'friendly' dogs are completely clueless to the struggle we go through daily. -
Wow, what beautiful girls. They are both stunning but I am partial to a black Tri

Thanks Grumpette. x :)

Oh I think I might get that one Snook. I just love Emily Larlham and could definitely use some kind of structure in our reactivity training. We seem to have got so far and stalled. Luka is much better than he was but I would like to do more. Thanks for posting the link :) Great progress at the vets BC, another one here who would love to come to your vet. Luka is due his vaccinations on Sat morning. Not looking forward to it. My OH will be taking him because I think Luka will pick up on my anxiety (he took him last year, after I had done the groundwork - numerous visits to just sniff and get treats :) and he was great) but this year I haven't had time to do many social visits so am worried about how Luka will be and worried that OH won't pick up on Luka's signals if it starts to get too much for him. -
Thanks BC, she's a cross. I hate saying it on here and feel the need to explain myself every time :) I got her before I knew about puppy farms etc. She is a Golden Retriever x Samoyed and, in all likelihood, came from a less than desirable place I guess everyone makes mistakes and as long as we learn from them, I figure it is ok. I would, obviously, never buy a dog off the internet again. She is, however, the most wonderful dog. So gentle and cuddly and no trouble at all. I love her to bits :D

My goodness, that sucker (Excuse the pun :) ) is huuuuuuge

Great news OD, hope she continues to improve. Now have a well deserved cup of tea :)

Wow, Ozstar. Well done. Spot on focus on that little wren. Can't be easy with such a small subject Great shot. What lens were you using?

If this is how she treated her own dog, I hate to think how she treats others in her care. Disgraceful. You do expect more from a profession supposedly dedicated to caring for animals Mind you, I wonder sometimes, why people chose the career they do. Like teachers who seem to hate children Glad this little mite will experience love now she is with you Dogmad

Not sure what you mean by the first bit but I do understand where you are coming from. As a breeder you are proud of what you do, rightly so, and want to put your name to your dogs. Awesome, nothing but admiration from me. As I said, I don't necessarily agree with not registering them, just pointing out why they may not be important to some pet purchasers. Not me, incidentally, if I have purchased a pedigree dog I do want the papers etc, and I do look at Luka's ancestry when I see new litter of Aussies on the ground as I like to see if they have any common ancesters :)
-
Keeping everything crossed for you. For future reference, and anyone else reading this, if you do suspect tick poisoning it's best not to feed your dog or let them drink. This can cause problems as their ability to swallow may be compromised, putting them at risk of aspiration pneumonia. Hope it's good news at the vets x

Not entirely sure where I stand on breeders not registering some or all of a litter, But I do disagree with the bolded bit above. The ancestry of the dog doesn't change if they are not registered. (As long as you are 100% sure the breeder is legit and is doing all the correct health tests and is registered themselves) It is still as valuable to the purchaser, they want a pedigree dog with the lineage intact, they just don't need the piece of paper that proves it. I have the pedigree certificate for the 2 pedigree dogs I have owned. They sit in a safe, never looked at, never needed. In my situation why do I need them? - other than to prove the pedigree is legit, but as i said, if you are sure of that then why? Mind you, if, as stated, it only costs $25 to register a pup then it does seem pointless to break ANKC rules for $25 But when I buy a pup from a breeder the 'label' is unimportant to me. Yes there ae certain breeders I would like to have a pup from but that is becasue I love their lines, not because of their name. If I was to get a dog, in furture from one of my favoured breeders, I wouldn't need to annouce or prove to the world I had a *Insert breeder name here* pup. I would be happy just knowing myself where the pup had come from. Bear in mind these are only the musings of someone who only really inhabits the pet world with short forays into dog sports (not competitively) :)

Went for a lovely walk in the forest today. Just to prove Jenna does have legs  32/52 IMG_0171.jpg by teejkay1, on Flickr

Are you sure they are a Registered breeder? Just because they have pedigree dogs, which they have chosen to breed does not mean they are a registered breeder.

Wow what a difference. How long did it take you Gruflife?

So happy to read Justice's play date was a success. I can just imagine how overjoyed you must have felt Snook. -
