  1. I'll definitely join in again this year. I really like having the incentive to keep getting out and about and hopefully improving my photography. No theme from me though, just whatever takes my fancy :)
  2. It has been quiet in here for a while now, not just in the run up to Christmas. It's a shame, but on the upside, I don't lose an entire day catching up on new posts :)
  3. Nearly there 51/52 IMG_0114.jpg by teejkay1, on Flickr
  4. That's an interesting approach Airedaler, I wonder how much it would cost to add in a heartworm test when my dogs are being titre tested every year?
  5. Thanks for the replies :) Possibly Danois, she can be quite smelly on her neck area. I have often put this down to getting in a mess with her RMBs but now I'm wondering if there is an underlying yeast problem going on. This, too sounds like it could be the culprit. I have some Maleseb so i think I will start bathing her with that tomorrow. Her skin is not looking too bad tonight. The redness seems to be subsiding but she wasn't happy about me touching it. Mind you, I think she is fed up with me messing with her. She had conjunctivitis week before last so I think she looks at me apporaching and thinks "Bloody hell, what is she going to do to me now"
  6. I understand a hot spot needs to he kept dry but not sure it is a hot spot, it isn't oozing or pussy at all just a bit red with these small yellow flakes Any other opinions on the photo?
  7. She's had it for a few days though so wouldn't it be more sore by now if it was a hot spot? I am so wary of hot spots as she is such a heavy coated dog but so far we've been ok. I've just trimmed the fur around the area to make it easier to get the cream on the skin.
  8. I was grooming Jenna a couple of days ago and noticed a patch if skin on her neck that was quite red and the fur next to her skin a sort of yellowy brown. I brewed up some calendula and put that on it for a couple of days but decided to put neocort on it yesterday ad the calendula did not seem to be helping and the skin looked like it was getting more red. This morning I noticed some flakey yellow bits in her fur around the area. Pic attached. She doesn't seem to be too bothered by it, scratches occasionaly but not a lot. I am thinking vet visi? Does anyone have any ideas? Can't work out how to attach pics on my phone so will post this, then put Pic in next post
  9. Oh no, how shocking Scootaloo. Many many
  10. Looks a similar size to one I pulled off my Jenna a few years ago and she showed no symptoms at all, Mind you, she is a lot bigger than little Lucy. Hope she continues to be fine. Nasty bloody ticks
  11. Yep that's my Luka :) and yes, just as an auditor. I just know I would never get round to doing the videos. Besides which I hate loath and detest hearing myself speak :D
  12. Fantastic dress Gapvic, what colour is it? Can I pretty please see the colour version :)
  13. Oh my goodness only 2 weeks left 50/52 Butter wouldn't melt................... yeah right :D IMG_0380.jpg by teejkay1, on Flickr
  14. Oh my goodness, that was hilarious. Thanks Hazywal, I needed that this morning :)
  15. Oh gosh Trifecta, he is gorgeous. You'll be set for your subject matter for the remainder of the year :)
  16. Great shot Leah :) 49/52 IMG_0331.jpg by teejkay1, on Flickr
  17. Wow, what a thread :) I have been thinking about this a fair bit and to be honest I am completely torn. Yes, I can see why a breeder would want to do everything humanly possible to ensure their pups go to suitable life long homes but I worry about how many people, especially new to the dog world people, may be put off and end up going to a pet shop or the internet instead. And, yes, I am sure most would think the people who are put off are not the 'suitable homes' but just because you do not like the personal nature of the questions does not mean that you would not make a good pet home. I don't know what the answer is. Don't sell interstate? I have absolutely no problem with a home check and/or face to face meetings. I think they are a very very good idea and doubt prospective responsible owners would object either. Very different to the 'on the spot questions' on the phone or in an email, which can feel a bit like a job interview It sounds to me like the interaction Perfume has had with the breeder should have given her a fairly good idea of the life a pup would have with her. Photos of herself are really not going to do anything further and as for the question "What drives you?". Bloody hell I wouldn't have a clue how to answer that Maybe some re wording is in order. Basically if a breeder chooses to sell interstate there is always going to be a risk. Stories, photos, etc can be fabricated. If you want to be sure, don't sell interstate. Perfume, I commend you for sticking round here, despite some not so friendly posts. And I understand being interested in more than one breed. I am torn between a Labrador and a Finnish Lapphund for my next dog. I want them both for entirely different reasons :) Doesn't mean either of them wouldn't have a fantastic life. As long as you have done your research for each of the breeds and their needs fit in with your lifestyle, I think thats fine.
  18. My agility teacher has sent me the link to this too. Think I will probably give it a go. Give me motivation to do stuff over the summer break. Would absolutely love to do Susan Garrett's Handling 360 course but that is waaaaaay too expensive.
  19. Awwwww BC, that's so lovely to hear :)
  20. There are lots of threads on here about pet insurance but a quick summary: Petplan (Allianz) have the best coverage and pay out 100% less the excess, of any claim. They are expensive and can be a bit slow to pay out but I have always had all my claims paid eventually. I haven't had to claim recently though, and they have been in a bit of a administration mess since all the policy pricing changes. All others are underwritten by Hollards and tend to be very similar. They only pay out 80% of a claim.
  21. Although, perhaps not expressed the most tactful way, I do think Rebanne has a point. I have seen Jane Harper myself, with my Aussie, and mental stimulation was definitely a high priority also Nothing in Life is free would be a good idea, I think. Good luck for the weekend
  22. Are all these photos taken in your garden, Impatiens? If they are, what a fantastic assortment of gorgeous flowers you have. I actually think I like the B&W one best, strange for flowers because usually you would want to see all the colour but there is just something I like about the B&W one. :) This week's entry I took last week. It wasn't the shot I was aiming for. I was planning on doing a black and white of the wreck but I really liked the colour and mood of this shot and it didn't look any where near as good in B&W :) 48/52 Dicky Beach Wreck by teejkay1, on Flickr
  23. We actually have a lot of interstate clients travel to see us for training and we have packages designed for this (clients come from QLD, VIC, ACT and even WA for example). However we will be bringing back our online courses early next year too :) This is what I've been thinking about recently. I absolutely loved my one session with Steve when he came up to Brisbane but, I must admit, I stuggled with the logistics of the follow up online. It's just not the same as seeing someone in person. Will be saving my pocket money up and hoping to do a trip next year sometime :)
