  1. When I was thinking of getting an Australian Shepherd, I wasn't sure about a dog with no tail. I thought it might be a bit strange and I had heard people say "how do you know when they are happy?" I think this video truly shows exactly how we know when Luka is happy :D this is him when my son arrives home from school. They are best mates Sorry I don't know how to embed the video properly
  2. Thanks both. I do love long exposures. You have time to think about what you want to achieve and the settings you will need for that. I'm not good a thinking quickly :) I am about to order a ND400 filter (Neutral Density filter - blocks light coming into your camera) which will allow me to do reeeeeeelly long exposures. Can't wait :D
  3. Gorgeous sunrise shots Leanne. I like my bed. No summer sunrises for me :) : Maybe in the winter months but even then it's pushing it  For this week's shot I went to our local waterfalls just after ex cyclone Marcia had pushed through. I have also posted a shot I took there last year for comparison. 09/52 IMG_0284.jpg by teejkay1, on Flickr IMG_0714.jpg by teejkay1, on Flickr
  4. How lovely Terri, it is such a beautiful place. Hard to believe it is only a few kms off Brisbane. it feels more like you're on a tropical island :) We really should go more often.
  5. This shot is fantastic Leanne. Gorgeous colours Fat flea looks fabulous SheWolf, her coat is so shiny :) Bubbles looks like a lovely cat MDD. I love cuddly cats :) Like the funky shot Ranga, very creative. We went to Tangalooma, on Moreton Island this past weekend. Took lots of photos, which are on my flickr but i am actually going to share a phone photo I took just as we arrived. It shows just how gorgeous the water was there. This is the wrecks that you can dive/snorkel. Lots of colourful fish. :) 08/52 DSC_0050 by teejkay1, on Flickr
  6. Thanks for typing that espinay. Very informative. I have often wondered about the term "bettering the breed" myself, and you have explained it very well
  7. Thanks again :) Yes, BC, I immediately fell in love when I saw those photos of her at Rach's place :) I hope K9Angel pops in here to see the photos. She doesn't seem to be on DOL much anymore and I can't PM her
  8. Thank you so much trifecta. That means a lot to me. I haven't been at this photography lark for very long so I'm really pleased you like them. I presume you like them? I guess you could mean I'm consistently bad
  9. :) VizslaMomma. I think it was more "Just take the shot and give me the bloody sausage, woman "
  10. Thanks all, it does help that Mya is so pretty :) it's hard to take a bad photo of her
  11. Bloody hell Terri, Didi's legs look like they go up to her armpits. Weeeeeell................................. she's a dog so they do, but you know what I mean  Early one from me. Using one of Mya's graffiti shots from her thread. 07/52 IMG_0766.jpg by teejkay1, on Flickr ETA. Missed the bit about Dewey, SheWolf. Hope he's ok and for you x
  12. I can't believe it is nearly 5 years since we have had Mya in our lives. For those that don't know Mya's story. She was picked up as a stray and put in Blacktown pound. She was incredibly thin and was due to be PTS when K9Angel was visiting there to pic up another dog. It was Mya's lucky day because someone mentioned her to Rach and she took her home too. Rach fattened her up and desexed her and a few weeks later she flew up to Qld to be join our doggy family. Her and Jenna got on great immediately. Mya does have a tendency to be a bt dominant but Jenna has always been absolutely fine with that :) We had a short rocky period when we added Luka to the family but nothing serious and all is good now. They all get on great. Mya does love to escape though. We have had a number of fraught hours searching for her but, thankfully, even her Houdini episodes have slowed down (or maybe I have just learnt to be more careful) Either way she hasn't got out for a long time now. I've been wanting to take some pictues of Mya next to a graffiti wall for a while now. I just thought her white fur against the colours would look great. Well, just the other day I suddenly noticed this alleyway not far from us, with a few different graffiti works of art (It's the wall of a paint shop so the graffiti is meant to be there :) ) so we popped down there this weekend, armed with sausage treats and a long line. No way I'm letting her off lead, Houdidni that she is  The first 2 pics are of her at Rach's place when she first arrived, all skin and bone And here she is now :) IMG_0766.jpg by teejkay1, on Flickr IMG_0770.jpg by teejkay1, on Flickr IMG_0772.jpg by teejkay1, on Flickr And here she is perfectly demonstrating her RBF ( resting bitch face  ) IMG_0753.jpg by teejkay1, on Flickr
  13. His ears were the bane of my life for his first year Lisa, I tried to no avail to get them to behave. I finally gave up and let them be free lol. I'm used to them now but still get a dose of envy when I see perfect button or rose ears :)
  14. Thanks both. He does look a bit posh
  15. We all seem to be getting into our stride now, great fast moving thread. So many photos to mention. Interesting angles LFF Fantastic sunset shot Helen, love it :) Ouchy, poor Dewey, that wound looks nasty. Good to see him smiling :) Like the silhouettes of the trees in your sunset shot Grumpette. Oh Kirty what a precious little bundle. I first saw the photo on my phone and couldn't work out what it was  I like the action shot of Jonah, Canetoad. Nice warm light. Great focus on such a small subject Trifecta, not easy with the foliage in the foreground. Well done. Well, we took another trip to the beach yesterday. It was Luka's turn this time :) 06/52 IMG_0737.jpg by teejkay1, on Flickr
  16. I like the first one Tay. I like the backlightling and Jess looks great I know what you mean though. It is hard to pick just one sometimes. I took myself off to some waterfalls today. They aren't the most spectacular falls but i had a wonderful 2 hours taking lots of different shots. Hence my difficulty only choosing one. I thiiiiiink this one :) 05/52 IMG_0712.jpg by teejkay1, on Flickr
  17. How gorgeous he is, looks like he is popping up to say 'hello'. Handsome fella! He does doesn't he? Sort of "Why, hello there. How you doing?" Great capture Ranga, (in more ways than one :) )
  18. Hahahaha Grumpette. Great shots. The one of Zeph is hilarious  Why oh why do my dogs hate water?
  19. Wow Gapvic, that's awesome and fantastic shots. You must be really stoked. No excuse not to visit us in the 52 week thread though :)
  20. Fantastic sky Canetoad I'll wait for winter for my sunsets. And even then I struggle to get up in time  We've had a fair bit of rain here recently so it was nice to get to the beach once it had stopped :) 04/52 IMG_0659.jpg by teejkay1, on Flickr
  21. Love love love Newfies. There's a couple that live around here. I see them at the beach and always go gaga at them. Gorgeous dogs.
  22. This appeared on my fb feed today. An interesting look into the history of the LDH. http://www.savingpets.com.au/2015/01/lost-dogs-home-vigil-and-broken-trust/ And http://www.savingpets.com.au/2015/01/the-lost-dogs-home-a-quick-and-dirty-guide-research-guide/
  23. I am from the Uk and I'm not sure if it's relevant but I have been wondering lately whether the concept of an 'outside dog' has any statistical relevance to the prevalence of attacks in Australia. Now, first of all I am not condemning those who have an outside dog as long as they get enough interaction with the family as well as mental stimulation and obviously, exercise. I'm talking about people, like my next door neighbour, who get a dog and then just leave it to its own devices in the back yard. Occasionally throwing a ball for it and shouting at it to stop barking. I'm afraid I think this scenario is all too common in Australia. Until I came here 8 years ago I had no concept of an outside dog. The weather is not conducive to this arrangement in England. A dog is very much part of the family and has to learn behave accordingly. Nuisnace barking doesn't tend to happen when the dog is inside either.
  24. A but off topic but found this and thought it amusing and sometimes a bit http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1043775/Champagne-corks-Inflatable-elephants-Too-Viagra--new-book-revealing-unlikely-ways-people-meet-maker.html
  25. It was Kae Norman who got these babies out of LDH and drove them to the airport so they could come to Canberra, she is an amazing woman and she has been fighting the bureaucrats for 10 years trying to get them to do something about the LDH it would be a victory for all to see something finally get done about that place. Maree CPR Here here Maree, I don't know Kae personally but have been following her work for many years. What a fabulous women with a fantastic attitude. She never wants to get into judging the previous owners of the dogs that come into her care. With her its just all about the dogs and getting on with making their lives better. She is totally dedicated. Wish I could meet her IRL.
