So yesterday, I was kicking a ball for Luka and the goofball manged to get in front of it as I kicked it. It's a Chuckit kick fetch ball. Made of hard foam. It hit him squarely in the eye He didn't yelp or anything but slinked off so I had a look and his eye was closed up. I prised it apart, which didn't seem to hurt him and it looked fine. I kept an eye on him and over the next couple of hours the eye returned to normal. He seemed totally fine. Tbh I forgot all about it today. He has seemed absolutely fine, however he has just come over to me and I have noticed the white of his eye is very red. Now, normally it would be off to the vets in the morning no problem. The problem here is Luka's fear issues. I do not want to go to the vet if it isn't warranted. Especially as she is going to have to get so close to look in his eye, it's going to be a very stressful day, for him and me Obviously if he needs it we will suck it up and go but wondered what people thought. Could he have any serious damage going on. He seems totally fine, doesn't mind me touching it. Advice? Experiences?

That tree carving is fantastic SheWolf, what a great idea. Getting in early again this week, and cheating a little. I took this one a few days ago but had to include it in here because I love it so much :D 17/52 IMG_0123.jpg by teejkay1, on Flickr

I'm sure you will be fine with an Aussie Miru. For all Luka's faults I have to say, I absolutely love him to bits. He is very special to me. Yes, there are days I wish He was more of a social butterfly but he is so loving and adorable when he is at home it makes up for all his 'issues' Good luck with your search and keep us posted :D

The love is so deep and the loss so all consuming. Kajtek, my thoughts are with you. Wishing you peace at this horrible time Run free beautiful boy.

I really like that Ranga, great composition

For those that manage to brush successfully, can I ask what toothpaste you use because I bought some and it smelt really chemically and Luka hated it.

Fantastic Landscape shots everyone. I love taking landscape photos. I love the way you really take in everything and there's no rush and you are surrounding by the wonderful things in nature (and the not so wonderful, mozzie spray is a permanent addition to my camera bag  ) It truly makes you be in the moment. :) I took this one a couple of night's ago. It was getting dark and I was on my own. Need to take a buddy with me next time. I was feeling a little vulnerable but at least I had a tripod to defend myself with  IMG_0116.jpg by teejkay1, on Flickr

Welcome Kito, who knew there was a ferret rescue? I hope he settles in well with the rest of the ferret pack, looks like he is making himself right at home. I chuckled a little at the focus thing. I have so many photos of the dogs where their nose is so perfectly sharp. :D Including this weeks photo (I found out after taking a bunch that the AF point wasn't set in the centre *Forehead slap  I let this one through though becasue I liked it overall but lesson learnt. Check the AF point. 16/52 IMG_0085.jpg by teejkay1, on Flickr

+1 if I was to get another Aussie I would be talking to Pawsitive, although I' m not sure Amanda has any litters planned at the moment but she was very helpful when I asked her for advice.

They really need mental stimulation as much, if not more, than physical expertise. They have a very sharp brain and need to use it :)

Yep, Lisa has said it all. I am one of those people with a anxious Aussie. He is the most wonderful, loyal, intelligent, gorgeous dog ( can you tell I love him just a little bit :D ) BUT he has his issues. People. He is really not keen on people he doesn't know, he is very nervous. barks like crazy if people come to the house or try and approach him on the street. After much work he can now walk past people when out on walks but does not like it if they to stop and talk. Oddly enough there have been a few random strangers who he has bounded up to say hello to but that just him being the crazy unpredictable dog he is  Another problem I have with him is chasing other dogs or cats. Again I have worked and worked and worked on his recall and he is fantastic as long as there are no other dogs around. Thankfully I have a deserted beach to take him for off lead romps but I am always vigilant and will recall him if I see another dog. He's not at all aggressive but I will not have him barrelling up to a strange dog. Potentially dangerous for him and not at all polite. Oh and once he's on lead if the other dog is walking he will walk past no problem but if the dog is running. He will lose it. He will literally scream because he wants to chase the dog. It is an awful awful sound Having said all this there are plenty of Aussies out there with wonderful stable temperaments and they are a gorgeous, gorgeous breed. If you want Bomb proof maybe you could look for an older dog where you have a better chance of knowing what you are getting? Good luck in your search and, most importantly, do not rush into any decisions.

Mine all get the same food kibble of an evening and various RMBS for breakfast, Mya, 7, pretty good, Jenna, 5, excellent teeth, Luka, 3, has the worst teeth of all of them

Love the shot of Koda MDD. Yes I may be a bit biased, Aussies make such wonderful models :D Fantastic moon series Ozstar. I haven't attempted any moon shots after my first and only try went pretty badly. Admittedly I didn't even own a tripod then and had my camera balanced on my BBQ  Love the depth of field in the cat photo MDD. My son and I were out exploring the rock pools yesterday so this was taken then, as the sun was going down 15/52 IMG_0061.jpg by teejkay1, on Flickr

Can someone please tell me what the Facebook Page is. I'd like to follow her but I don't want to watch the video. Too upsetting -
Thanks MDD, that shot was taken at F2.8, 24mm, ISO 3200, 25 seconds From what I have gathered from my Googling, you basically want the largest aperture you have with the widest angle lens and high ISO 3200 or even 6200, the ISO will depend on how high you can get away with on your camera before the the shot gets too noisy. the longest shutter speed you can get away with before you start to get star trails is generally worked out as 600 divided by the focal length, so in my case it was 600/24=25 They do ned a fair amount of post processing though, to really bring out the stars Oh and to have the best chance of capturing something great you really need to be away from any light pollution. There was definitely too much light in my shot so I want to go inland and into the mountains next time. And make sure the moon is either very small or not out at all. :) I can't wait to have another go. I didn't realise when I took that shot that I wasn't pointing at the 'core' of the milky way so I really want to try and capture that. If only the bloody rain would stop  A fantastic app I downloaded on my iPad is called Star Walk, it's absolutely brilliant for tracking what the night sky will look like on any given day. Great for planning. The weather? Not so much

Oh great colours in that last shot Ozstar, lovely. I tried my hand at astro photography this last week. Definitely want to have another go but the weather has not been kind  14/52 IMG_0026.jpg by teejkay1, on Flickr

Exercising Reactive Dogs Thread

OMG, if people still approach when he's wearing that then you should bite them yourself! Hahaha SG, it sure is a great little jacket and very obvious. Good luck MDD, hope It does the trick. -
Wow, Gapvic, some stunning pics in there, you must be really pleased I'm not a great flyer but I reckon I could manage the trip to NZ. South Island is now on my 'to do' list when ny youngest has grown up a bit. A road trip with a grumpy 10 year old doesn't seem like it would be too much fun :D
